Idea for next Precise model!

Looking at my stainless steel watch just gave me an idea. I think a Precise Plus with a PVD coating on it would be completely bad ...!!! Not to mention scratch proof to boot! And would work well with the whole theme of the precise line. It would be the most rugged and finest made PV available, hands down without a doubt. Maybe name it the Precise Plus Prestige and make it a limited edition with a serial number engraved into the coating. Omg, I am getting excited just thinking about it! Lol

What do you guys think?

Maybe powdercoating would be a cheaper alternative? Laser engravings would be interesting, not sure how easy it would be to do on that shape.

Powder coating would defeat the purpose. PVD would be expensive if you did a handful at a time. Not saying that even in larger batches it would be cheap though, it would still be costly. It would be the ulimate mod, the Rolex of PV's if you will. I have a few connections as there are shops in the area that offer it for machine tooling and firearms. I may make a few calls if there is any interest.

As far as laser engraving goes, it wouldn't be a problem. I used to program them, and all you need is a 5-axis laser to follow the radius of the tube.

If you've ever seen damascus steel, that too would make a beautiful mod! Expensive as all hell, but cool none the less!

Nope, thats not mine. Mine is a Colt Officers model .45. It's a work in Progress! I'll have to post up some pics of it when i get a chance!

I think Caspian was making those 1911 slides for a while. They do look slick.

If I was to have one of my precises really customized, I'd go with color case hardened center tube with brass end caps. Or fire blued finish, like the screws on a custom Colt SAA. I just love the old school firearm finishes like Turnbull Restorations does... Turnbull Mfg.
