Idea: Ultrasonic atomizer

I was reading in a thread about cool, wet, clouds of dense vapor. That's what we all want, am I right? So would it be possible to use an ultrasonic nebulizer, like for people with a medical condition, to vape? I read that they work by vibrating a metal piece at ultrasonic frequencies to make small droplets in the air. I wouldn't mind a huge unit to put on my desk, I just wonder if it could be done. I'm not satisfied with cartos and until I get my stainless wire rope my ecig just tastes like sub par pooey.

I dont know what tan Ultrasonic nebulizer would do, and Im sure it can be done if the money for research and developement were there, but if your ready to get rid of your sub par pooey, the future is here and its called kayfun/Russian or any of its many clones.

Its not a cool vape, but its the best vape out there (IMHO)

There was a thread on ecf where some guys did try it. It was way over my head. I don't think that they met with much success. But who knows? I haven't seen that thread for a long time.

If I remember correctly, the consensus was that to get the droplets of juice small/fine enough to be like the vapor we inhale from ecigs, the material that vibrates will need really small depressions/pits in it. And that material is not available at your local hardware store.

That would be me. I did worked some with something called vibrating mesh technology. It is a piezo disk with hundreds of holes around around 15 microns. It did not work well. Using water you get a mist not a vapor. You can inhale it, but nothing visible is exhaled. I tried adding flavor to it but tasted nothing. And nothing happened when I tried PG. More power might have helped. But you would probably still end up with a mist.

I have looked at the patent and did quite a bit of searching. And I am convinced that there never was a U/S vaporizer. What I think it was is a piezo pump that delivered the juice to the coil in place of a wick.

I just decided to do a net search on the words, new, ultrasonic, atomizer and e-cig. I came up with a few hits on it. However, some seem to be frauds. Are any real?

My experience was pretty much the same. I could find no indication that anything other than a heated coil ever being used. I believe that claim that the first the claim that the first E-cig was ultrasonic was due to a mention of a ultrasonic pump.

I did some testing of the vibrating mesh. But what was produced was a mist. Not a vapor. However the iVibrant tech looks interesting. Thanks for the lead. Have investigate it further when I have some time.
