Hi all,

I've spent most of the last year getting involved with local advocacy and legislative groups/issues in various ways; I'd like to ramp up my involvement a little bit in 2015 by assisting my fellow analog users with the transition to vaping. I've donated a few iSticks and Nautilus Mini tanks to some friends; and would like to step up this effort in a bit more economical/affordable way. While directing them to our local B&M has worked for some, a lot have "not had time" or are hesitant to spend the time to learn/jump in to it at the local B&M (I'm guessing on most of this.) I don't want to force anything on them; this is the group of friends who always want to try my setup and love it, are very interesting in quitting analogs, but just haven't made the effort to dive in.

I'd like "prime" them a little more to help them with a successful transition by handing them a nice starter device. I don't want to do this by introducing them to poor quality gas station/big tobacco products that will have them back on analogs in no time. I'm looking for a very affordable, simple "starter" setup with everything they need to get them started.

Anyone else with similar experiences and a good device idea for this? I'd like to start with six devices; will spend up to $200 for this initial trial run and see how it goes. I'm wondering if there are some online vendors who may have deals on bulk purchase "starter" packs that will be good for those who know absolutely nothing about vaping and get them more interested in it... any ideas would be appreciated!

Thanks all!

how about this?

better equipment. ($200 for 6 setups is very limiting as far as the group that would likely be successful and/or stay interested IMHO)

give them out with the caveat that they use them for a month. at the conclusion of the first month, they have the option to pay you back for them or give them back for the next person. either way, you're looking to get equipment for the next person.

i would suggest;
an mvp 20 watt (over kill, but cheap, reliable, accurate and ready for the next step... also with no real need for extra equipment such as replacement batteries, chargers, etc.)
carto tank
filler tool
1 amp usb wall charger
a small assortment of laser punched cartos (these can be your contribution free of charge since they're disposable)

I've donated a few iSticks and Nautilus Mini tanks to some friends; and would like to step up this effort in a bit more economical/affordable way.

That's what I gave to my daughter and her boyfriend. The iStick charges like a cell phone, so that's a familiar chore to perform. The Nautilus is easy to fill and gives good performance with the BVC coils.

I'd previously given them eGos and carto tanks but they didn't use them regularly. They seem to be getting on better with the new setup.

@beckdg - good idea. My only hesitation with this plan is actually getting the devices back if they don't choose to stick to it ... that was what I originally did with the iStick/Nautilus - but the person receiving it did eventually pay for it. They wanted to keep it around for when they were "ready" ... this is why I was originally wanting to go with more of a cheaper/disposable setup, as I really don't want them back/don't want to have to keep track of them. Both ideas have their pros/cons I suppose... I've got some thinking/strategizing to do. I really like the idea of an all-inclusive affordable "kit" that will get them started, and eventually get them to visit a local B&M to either upgrade or (at a minimum) get them interested to the point of seeking out more coils/liquids to try. I originally started with an Ego-T kit that got me interested, then it was all downhill from there :D I've had some difficulty finding decent "all-inclusive" kits though; specifically kits that include quality liquids.

If I could find a really nice all-inclusive kit leveraging USB charging, rudimentary VV/VW with a decent tank and some quality liquid for around $40-$50, I think this would suffice. I'll do some more online research later this evening.

An update to this thread: All was successful so far!

Provided PVs for two friends (husband and wife) - they have both successfully quit analogs for good and are vaping full time with their own setups now, with the last analog puffed first week in January for both. As an added bonus, the wife of this couple was also able to get both her parents to completely quit as well as of last weekend. So, four down so far!

They all have their own personal setups now purchased at a good local B&M ... they insisted on giving them back, but do have many other friends who are smokers. I told them to try to "pay it forward" with the PVs I provided. I'll be keeping up on the "pay it forward" progress of these two donated PVs, hoping they go along ways! (As long as a Vamo V5 and a ZMax Mini can go...) :D
