Identifying dead cartos

I don't trust my taste buds yet, and i think i may have pushed some of my cartos too far before refilling, but i'm really just not sure. So my question is this: Is there a way to visually identify a carto that is empty vs a carto that has reached the end of its life span vs one that has been burned?

Krisbkream sir if the tube in the middle is brown and you have am awful taste, good sign the carto is dead. The filler will can also brown, but sometimes that's just the caramelizing the juice if you've refilled it multiple times. If juice leaks out of it and you didn't overfill that's a sure sign it's dead. Hope this helps. :)

I usually take a flashlight, put it at the threaded end of the carto and look through the mouth end. If the inner tube looks all smooth then it's still good. If it obviously has holes burned into it then it's bad.

Also, as Mr. Morandir said, if you are dripping on the filler and juice starts bubbling up the inner tube before you finish filling it then there's probably a hole in there somewhere and it's dead.

Those are the 2 visuals I use to determine if a carto is dead or not :)
