...and one that I'm sure has been asked before.

Can an Ego 510 atomizer fit onto a regular 510 unit?

They look the same, and it looks like the ones I'm looking at are 2.0 ohms. In theory, they should work, but they specifically say "ego," so...I dunno.

I'm a total newb, and the only unit I've ever used is a regular 510 with atomizers, cartridges, and batteries. never even used a cartomizer.

There are no idiot questions, only idiot ... um ... responses ... or, uh ... something like that.

Anyway, the small atomizers (that are the same diameter as the 510) will work -- they're the same atomizers, in fact, as the eGo can take any 510 attachment. eGo (large bore/"fat") atomizers/cartomizers will fit too, but they'll look really weird and aren't really designed for the 510 (obviously).

To give you an example, everything in BOLD I understood perfectly. Everything else sounded like Charlie Brown's teacher. ;-)

I've never used(or seen) an eGo, tank, pen style, etc. One of the reasons I haven't ventured out into new designs is because I haven't a clue what goes with what, or how to use it. Plus, I already have a bunch of 510 stuff.

I also haven't attempted to use a Mega battery or atomizer. I'm so plain-Jane, it's scary.

Well, yes, indeed, there's a lot of confusion because there are a number of different types of E-cigs out there. Perhaps the most important thing you need to know is that, except for a few cases, the number (510, 808, 901, etc.) indicates a different type of connector, thus almost anything with a number that is different than yours won't work, at least not without an adapter.

- The 306 and 510 are the same threads. However, 306 atomizers are made for those "penstyle" E-cigs you mentioned and have an exposed bridge (the metal mesh that dips into the cartridge to soak up liquid), while the 510 atomizers are recessed up into the body of the atomizer. This is because penstyle E-cigs have a cartridge that fits over top of the 306 atomizer, while the 510 carts are designed to fit inside the 510 atomizer tube. So you can't interchange the cartridges, but you can get 306 drip tips to fit over top of the 306 atomizers to use on a 510 or eGo. The differences aren't really that important beyond know what you've got and what will fit on it, and if you have an eGo or 510, you can use all 510 accessories on the eGo, and most eGo accessories on the 510 though it's not recommended and looks weird anyway. It's recommended you only use straight 510 attachments on a 510 battery. However you will have no problems using any 510 attachments on an eGo.

By "attachments," you mean batteries and atomizers? Cartridges? All of the above?

As has been said, yes. Anything that screws on to the battery is an attachment, be it a cartomizer, atomizer, clearomizer, or whatever.

If that's the case, how would using 510 accessories on an eGo be different from using eGo accessories on a 510?

Then, what is the advantage to an eGo vs a regular 510?

Sorry to be so dense.

The difference arises when you look at the larger attachments designed specifically for the eGo. The eGo uses is a "fat" battery, and eGo attachments are similarly "fat" in that they are the same diameter. The eGo also has a second set of threads outside the main 510 connection in the middle where you can screw on a cone (if using the small 510 attachments). These aren't generally used for anything but the cone, so they're not really important, but large eGo-specific attachments will fit over top of these threads. If you attach them to a 510 battery you'll have this tiny battery sticking out of this big honkin' attachment. They'll work (though it's not recommended, particularly for things like the eGo Mega Dual Coil Cartomizer -- or any dual coil cartomizer for that matter) but they'll look funny.

The advantage of an eGo over a 510 is quite simply a larger battery for more vape time. And of course the ability to use eGo-specific attachments safely.

+1 what everyone said. The eGo is basically just a "fat" (longer lasting between charges) 510 battery. (Like you have only fatter.) The connectors are the same. The thing is, all the stuff that fits the little 510 will fit the eGo and work well....but not all stuff made for the eGo will fit the little bat because the little one doesn't have enough power to run it. I think we're all confusing you....sorry.

To make it simple, 510 refers to the thread design and size. Ego is a bigger, more powerful battery that provides the same voltage as a small 510 battery, but with longer life between charges.

You can use the following atomizers and cartomizers (cartomizer is a term for an atomizer and cartridge combined into one unit).
standard 510 atomizers, mega 510 atomizers, 510 cartomizers, Ego-T Tank, monster 510 atomizers, cone 510 atomizers, clearomizers, and 306 atomizers with a drip tip.

In short, if it says 510, it will most likely work fine with an Ego battery. The ones that won't work well with the standard 510 battery are higher current drain devices like low resistance atomizers of any type. They might work with the 180mah battery, but for short periods and will require much too frequent charging. Ego batts are best for all 510 atomizers.

If you aren't sure, an email to the supplier will get you an answer quickly.

Thank you, everyone. But I should use a Mega with a mega, right? Like a mega atomizer needs a mega battery, yes? What are the benefits/disadvantages o the mega parts?

Dave - do you play guitar?

Yes, a mega ("fat") attachment should use a "fat" eGo battery. Doesn't matter which one, as long as it's an eGo. The main advantage of the mega atomizers and cartomizers are:

- Capacity: the cartridges and cartomizers hold more liquid, so less topping up
- Larger coil and larger bridge means more liquid gets to the coil, so you get more vapor. Larger batteries also tend to allow more current to run to the coil, which means they can run a little hotter, which produces still more vapor and improves the flavour. This can also be accomplished with low resistance atomizers. For Mega cartomizers, particularly ones like the eGo Mega Dual Coil Cartomizer, these are only for the eGo (they can kill a 510 battery), but they have huge capacity (about 4.5ml), plus two coils to produce even more vapor and better flavour.

Ego is 14mm in diameter, similar size and shape to a whiteboard marker.
510 is 9.2mm in diameter

Ego has two diameters of atomizers - small diameter like a 510 atomizer, and big diameter to match its battery. Obviously a 14mm diameter atomizer would look weird on a slim 9mm, 510 battery.

In addition - Ego can use LR atomizer and cartomizers - ones below 2.5 ohms. Those are recommended only for batteries 450mah+ and have the potential to damage smaller batteries like 510. Also, slim 510 cannot use the fast charging cable of Ego - it can damage a slim battery.

Note - if you are thinking about Ego-T atomizers (non-LR), the 510 also has a tank atomizer - 510-T tank atomizer and 510-T tanks

306 is an atomizer with the same threads. But it is all steel with exposed bridge. It's little cartridges go over the atomizer and have a small push-up juice cup that is prone to giving a bit a burnt plastic taste. 206 attys need their own style of drip tip that goes over the atty (assuming you have manual batteries. drip tips are not recommended for auto batteries). I use a standard resistance 306 atty to drip on my 510 manuals. The LR 306 atty is popular with people who drip on fat battery models like Ego - it is not for slim batteries.

OK.

I like less topping off, more flavor, and longer battery life.

Not really excited about the dripping concept, tho, not sure why. maybe it's just confusing.

I like a lot of vapor a lot of flavor and not so much of a throat hit. The more vapor and flavor, the better. Throat hits, well, they feel like they sound to me. I'm a singer, and I don't like feeling my throat being "hit" with anything.

I have a stockpile (tho, prolly a drop in the bucket next to most of you) of cartridges, atomizers, and batteries in the 510 variety. I have no idea what the voltage or resistance is on any of them. Is there a way to find out?

Am I understanding correctly that I need a higher powered battery to use a lower resistance atty? Lucy, please esplain.

Incessantly! I started at age 12, joined my first paying band at 15, and played in bands for a couple of decades before settling down and slowing up a bit. Now, I play in a contemporary Christian band at church. Most of the licks are the same, just different words. I find it satisfying for a slowed down music gig. I'm not out until 3AM and seldom have to load equipment in and out!

LOL My cousin is a youth minister for a church in GA. They have bands all the time. Very cool. I sing in a Top40/pop band in the casinos. It's nice to be paid for doing something you love.

Sweet guitar too. I just bought a starter bass. I play like an infant. Funny thing is,I'll probably figure that rig out before I understand these e-cigs.

You can reduce the throat hit by getting a lower strength liquid (6-12mg) and/or by using a liquid that has more VG in it. However, be aware that VG is thicker, and thicker liquids don't do well in cartomizers, if that's something you're planning on trying out. I'd go with something around 6-12mg and 30-50% VG at most.

If you know how to use a multimeter or volt-ohm meter you can use that to test the resistance. Otherwise, no, not really. And yes, a bigger battery is highly recommended for low resistance atomizers and cartomizers because they suck more power from the battery -- power that smaller batteries can't supply much of.

I only use 0mg nic juices, mindfield. I haven't been a hard core smoker for twenty years. I smoked a couple of cloves per day because I liked the relaxation aspect, but they were killing my throat. Plus, I'm asthmatic, so any smoke was bad.

I started ordering 90/10 juice combinations in the hopes that it might increase the vapor production. Hopefully, that will do the trick. I don't wanna go too thick, so I don't gunk up my attys as fast. (see, I do learn along the way)

All I know is that I have a collection of attys and batteries and no idea if they are low or high resistance, or how powerful the batteries are. BUT, I take it that higher power batteries are better for lower resistance attys, and they last longer? in general.
