I'd recommend the KR808d-1 too. KR808s are only 2 pieces (a battery and a screw-on cartomizer), there is no separate atomizer to worry about - much simpler, especially for newbies.

There's no need to spend more than $30-40 for a "starter kit". Most of them include 2 batteries, a USB charger, a wall outlet adapter, and cartomizers. It doesn't necessarily need to be in a kit, you can order the same things separately if you choose too. I would get no less than 10-15 cartomizers to start with - that's enough to hold you several days to place another quick order if you like e-cigs.
Figure on 2-3 cartos per day, at first, until you learn how to refill them and/or make your own juice. That can lower the cost quite a bit - down to almost nothing per month, actually.

Below is a link for the best price I know of for a starter kit, and a link for a bigger, longer lasting KR808 battery too. (If you want to stick with e-cigs, get additional batteries and chargers, so that you don't run out. A pass-through is a good idea too, along with a high mAh charger so that wall current can be used with it - there are chargers for the car too.)

I am a GUY from L.A. not girl. lol
OK, having both a KR8 and a SmokeStik I can honestly say, they are comparable but not equal. The KR8 has a slightly higher voltage, so a slightly higher temp vapor. However, the SmokeStik has a much more responsive switch, making it more cigarette like. Also, the SS has a lifetime warranty, assuming you continue to purchase cartos from them. For me, I like the SmokeStik better, but the KR808 is a fine choice also.

The reason people are saying to get the eGo is because they're trying to save you money in the long run. The majority of us started out with something else and quickly found out what we chose wasn't right for us. Like so many, I went for the kind that looks like a cigarette and I wish I hadn't. The batteries don't last that long and the one I bought, the batteries take a good 4 hours to charge and they don't last that long before needing to be recharged again, maybe 2 hours maximum with what I would consider conservative vaping (one or two drags every 15 minutes or so). It has helped me cut down from 1 to 1.5 packs of smokes a day down to maybe 5 cigarettes a week but I want something better to help me completely put down the regular cigarettes.

I found this forum after buying my first kit and I wish it was the other way around. After doing a lot of research and listening to what others have said, I too will be going by the way of the eGo as well. I'm not trying to push it on to you, I'm just saying I think that's going to be the best one for me since I want something that has a longer battery life and holds more juice. It gets old having to refill as often as I need to in order to get the best vaping experience and to keep my atomizer wet so it doesn't burn out. The first kit I bought, was a double kit (two complete e-cigarettes) because my husband wanted to try it too. We spent a total of $230 for that kit at the beginning of Sept. When he gets paid at the end of this month, I'll be spending approximately $190 for a new eGo kit as well as the supplies I'll need to make my own juice. So, in basically a month's time, I'll have spent $490 on e-cig stuff. It's still cheaper than the $500 we would have spent but we could have saved ourselves a lot more had we found this site and listened to what the others are saying and started out with the eGo.

Vaping is just like anything else in life, you start out knowing nothing about it but the more you do it, the more you learn and the better you get at it, whatever that may be... walking, riding a bike, using a compter, driving a car... Once you get your first kit and start using it, you'll see just how easy it really is. If you do nothing else as far as research, at least watch MistressNomad's videos on this forum. She explains the basics on the e-cigarettes. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/new-members-forum/120044-i-made-videos-newbies-particular-broke-newbies.html

$190 for an eGo? Are you sure you are getting the best price for what you are buying because without details it seems overpriced to me.

I've only been at this a couple months, but my trek has been a lot like Chalie_Champ.

I started with the Blu, which was just good enough to make be believe I could find one I like.

Then I went with the Revolver Elite, which from my experience and all I have read, is probably the best super-mini (actual size of a cigarette) on the market.

Now I'm considering an eGo. (Actually, the Revolver vGo, which is their eGo clone) I don't think I'll ever get rid of my Elite, and I think it will continue to be my main PV because even after vaping for a couple months I still find it important that it be the size of a cig. But, the eGo will be MUCH better for long car trips and the like.

No, no, nooooo!!! LOL The $190 is not just for an eGo! It's what I'm paying for the eGo PLUS some extra stuff like a PT, extra atties, drip tips, AND DIY supplies so I can start making my own juice! The eGo kit by itself is only $69 of that total and I'll be getting it from cignot.com. I guess I worded it badly in my other post.

The eGo kit from cignot has:

2 650mah batterie
2 atomizers
2 atomizer covers
5 prefilled carts (Marlboro High)
1 eGo fast USB charger
1 AC to USB adapter
1 pouch
1 instruction sheet

I know you can find cheaper kits for the eGo than $69 but this kit is for 2 complete eGos. Most sites cut back on a cone, or go with a regular USB charger, not a fast one or they only come with one battery and one atomizer. Plus with cignot, you can pick different colors for the two eGos vs. being stuck with one color.

no, I wish. There is the 901 pcc which is hard to find and I have been asking around to see if it will work with the 808. I have a thread in 808 forum about it. Only one person responded and they said it would work but because of differences it would take longer. I can not testify to this and I do not know if it will shorten battery life etc...

Go for the eGo. Seriously. get a kit that has two batteries and you will be good to go! The battery life will become INCREDIBLY important! It is such a pain switching out the batteries constantly. I wish someone had just told me to that that from jump instead of me ordering several other things before that. You will probably get over wanting it to look more like a real cig when you see how much of a pain it is. eGo is a good size (not a huge, or a box like some of the mods) and it will last you pretty much all day with one battery if you aren't on it like a crackhead...lol.

The first PV I heard of was the SmokeStik. It's an R4081. After checking out their website, I returned a couple of days later, planning to order. Everything had changed -- not just the layout, the statements and claims. I called and they said all U.S. traffic was being routed to the Canadian site while the U.S. company moved their warehouse. It made me suspicious enough that I kept looking, found ECF and bought an 801. I then bought a 510 and vaped both for a while. I'm now strictly 510 cartomizers.

They did me a favor. SmokeStik is very overpriced and their cartridges are all tobacco flavored (which I wouldn't like.) 4081s are only moderately popular so it probably would have been a while before I learned that I didn't have to buy my e-liquid from them.

The big advantage to the KR808 is the cartos. But now those are available for 510s as well (and I've seen ones for the 801.) While I believe this is some difference in the way they draw, once you decide on cartos, the main question is battery life. On the basic 510 you get to change and recharge your batteries constantly. The KR808 basic battery lasts a little longer. There are "mega" batteries for each which last longer still. The eGo, which is a 510, has a much longer-lived battery. When I started, 9 months ago, the eGo didn't exist so I went straight from a stock 510 to a battery mod. I adore my Chuck but, if you don't know yet if vaping is for you, you probably don't want to spend that much. The reason so many people recommend the eGo is because you can get longer batter life than you can with other stock batteries without buying a more expensive battery mod.

I think the MAIN reason for people to recommend the ego.....is that the op asked for the best kit.

Op, unless I just missed it, you never stated that you wanted something cigarette sized, so getting annoyed with people that are recommending it is.....unfair. Keep in mind that most pv's, although close, are larger than a standard cigarette.

I, like you, wanted something cigarette sized, but after going through a total of 7 batteries in one evening of drinking, and averaging 3 battery changes in each shift at work, I gave up on my 510 kit and built a large battery mod that looks like I'm smoking a 1980's style cell phone.

Perhaps you won't be annoyed at the constant battery changing and charging, I hope you aren't and that your first pv purchase will be your last. However, you would be in the minority. Only time will tell.

Just got home after being gone for a few hours. All four of my cheap batteries each crapped out after 10 to 30 minutes at the most -- and I had charged them all last night and took them off the chargers today before I left, without using them before I left. I even had to resort to smoking a cigarette earlier tonight, which was about the worst one of my life.

Anyway, I intended to post a question about which battery (eGo or KR808D-1 Mega) has the longest battery life and the best throat hits, and then I found this thread. I need to buy something much better for the times when I'm not home and not in my car, since it looks like the two kits I bought three weeks ago are about dead (due to constant vaping and they're just plain inferior). My main concerns are: long battery life (like several hours for one battery), throat hits, and uses cartomizers. It sounds like the eGo is what I need to buy, but I would like to get opinions from the "experts" who have used both.

I'm using passthroughs when I'm at home and in my car (received the car USB adapter today and it works very good with my passthrough -- which means no more having to charge the battery using the car cigarette lighter).

Thanks in advance for your opinions and advice!
