I'd recommend the KR808d-1 too. KR808s are only 2 pieces (a battery and a screw-on cartomizer), there is no separate atomizer to worry about - much simpler, especially for newbies.
There's no need to spend more than $30-40 for a "starter kit". Most of them include 2 batteries, a USB charger, a wall outlet adapter, and cartomizers. It doesn't necessarily need to be in a kit, you can order the same things separately if you choose too. I would get no less than 10-15 cartomizers to start with - that's enough to hold you several days to place another quick order if you like e-cigs.
Figure on 2-3 cartos per day, at first, until you learn how to refill them and/or make your own juice. That can lower the cost quite a bit - down to almost nothing per month, actually.
Below is a link for the best price I know of for a starter kit, and a link for a bigger, longer lasting KR808 battery too. (If you want to stick with e-cigs, get additional batteries and chargers, so that you don't run out. A pass-through is a good idea too, along with a high mAh charger so that wall current can be used with it - there are chargers for the car too.)
