If you could do it all over again from the beginning, what gear would you want? What gear would you avoid?

I was lucky enough to find this forum and get good starting advice. I've been happy with my itaste vvs, and I have an MVP on the way, and I have no desire whatever for a Provari or mechanical mod.

The only thing that I would have skipped would have been carto tanks. I much prefer my protanks and davides, though I'm glad that I tried other toppers so that I know what I like and don't like.

I would have done it sooner , love my toys

Lol Yeah, but that's like "all over again from before the beginning". I think us earlier adopters all wish there had been more noise about e-cigs, and better equipment so we would have started sooner. My awareness of eicgs only came about from "free" As Seen On TV ads showing up, and every Kwikee Mart around here having a tiny display ad in the window for nJoy.

Stuff I liked:

Ego Twist
ProVari
VTR, Cool Fire 2, 134, and MVP
mechs
Carto Tanks
Kayfun
ProTank 2
AW IMR batteries

Stuff I could have skipped:

Cigalikes
Reo (not into bottomfeeders)
Kanger t2s
Vision Vivi Nova
iClear 30S
AGA-t2
RSST

Other:

Efest batteries did not work well in my ProVaris, but I like them for my VTR.

I would have avoided blus and the other cig-a-likes I wasted a lot of money on and went straight to my current Vision Spinners and T2 setup . I've only had this setup for about a month but I think I already want some kind of mod. I do like my T2 tanks. Just wish I could find some reliable info on recoiling them.

:thumb:

  • MVP - good all-around inexpensive regulated mod for the money; too bad it's gonna die one day & can't be salvaged

  • Smoktech Gripper - great little stealth mod

I have an MVP and love it, saw this post and just ordered that gripper.....really, $10.00! Hard to go wrong there. Just wondering how you like it, I couldn't (ok, didn't) find any reviews on this model.

The gear which I'd be interested in:
A Provari
RDA's and RTA's (kayfun, russian, etc)
GOOD batteries, AW IMR mainly

What I'd stay away from:
Any type of clearomizer (except the iclear 16, which was the only clearo that ever worked for me)
Cheaper made China mods (except the MVP, like Baditude stated)
Genesis style rebuildable atomizers

I would never have bought the "cigalike" half hour charge with filled cartos that I started with.
On the other hand, I still use for tasting new juice mixes the 901 with atty and tank. The tank is washable and about0.75ml, so it is useful from time to time.

But many items that exist now were unheard of when I began vaping. So I guess I followed the developments, and I don't regret any of the gear I bought. I must admit, though, it does fill a very large container, and much is now hardly ever used...
I guess it's just the growing knowledge, ours and the fabricants, that improves as time passes.

Knowing what you know now, and if you could do it all over again from the beginning, what gear (power source and vapor delivery device) would you be interested in getting? What would you avoid wasting time, money and effort on?

Here are the ones I would be interested in, in no particular order:
1. Reo Grand and RM2
2. Provari and IBTanked cartotank
3. Mech and Kayfun-type RTA (3.1, KFL+, Russians or good-quality clone equivalents)

These are the ones I would avoid:
1. Cigalikes. All of them.
2. Clearomizers. All of them.

Cheap choices:
MVP2
IBTanked tanks
Cartos

Spendy choices:
ProVari
Billet Box
ZNA
IBTanked tanks
Cartos

What to avoid:
808 batteries | Cig-a-Likes
prefilled carts
almost any clearo

If I could do it all over again, I would have done it a lot sooner!!!
When I first heard about the e-cig, I thought it was a gimmick. Wish I would have given them a chance back then.
We all live & learn........

THIS post makes a very good and strong point for me, and I imagine a lot of other folks too.

Id skip the overpriced kr808a I started with and go straight for a Provari.

Id also skip buying an IBTanked pyrex tank and get a Phiniac instead.

It cost a bit more but is thicker glass and much more durable in the long run.

I have two Phiniacs that have lasted 15 months now with heavy use and being knocked off my desk onto wood floors countless times. Both of the IBTanks I had cracked within two months time from taking the dime thin metal caps off to refill.

After getting Provari's I accumulated more KR808's

I wouldn't change a thing. It was all great stepping stones to the AWESOME gear I have today. Although I started to procure that awesome gear only a month into vaping thanks to ECF - REOs, RBA's and Unflavored Nic Base :)

If I could have skipped anything it would have been:

1. Any flavored eliquid.
2. Buying toenail clippers to trim wire - these small side cutters work so much better cause wire doesn't go flying everywhere :)
