If you could do it all over again from the beginning, what gear would you want? What gear would you avoid?

I went from a VAMO V3 from fasttech with an x10 pro tank, which both only lasted an exactly a week. The Chinese suck at giving a tight durable insulator around the center 510 connection..I even replaced it with a #60 washer...but eventually the center pin actually detached from the circuit board..completely useless tube. So I began researching for the MOST durable MOD, top 3 was reo, silver bullet, and the provari. The provari always had a good review, after watching bursardos review..I was set. So then I got it and now it is my all day vape, and I have an AR mech for sub OHMing. I got the 22mm IBTanked carto tank and have been through dozens of cartomizers, it's still my tank that I currently use. But if I could do it all over again I would've gotten my provari first and all the money spent on cartons and IBTanked would've gone to a kayfun or a russian instead

Clearomizers, 808 minis and vGo-style batteries, the 801 and 306 kits would all be things I wish I had avoided.

I wish I had grabbed the eRoll a year ago instead of waiting until now. It has become my daily driver. And after trying out the Smileomizer, I now wish I had grabbed the Zeus a year ago as well. I will be getting that one with my tax return.

Other than that, I'm pretty happy with my gear. Except for the Zeus, there's nothing left on my wish list.

Knowing what you know now, and if you could do it all over again from the beginning, what gear (power source and vapor delivery device) would you be interested in getting? What would you avoid wasting time, money and effort on?

Here are the ones I would be interested in, in no particular order:
1. Reo Grand and RM2
2. Provari and IBTanked cartotank
3. Mech and Kayfun-type RTA (3.1, KFL+, Russians or good-quality clone equivalents)

These are the ones I would avoid:
1. Cigalikes. All of them.
2. Clearomizers. All of them.

I disagree about the Cig-A-Like. I needed a similar hand to mouth experience. However I would start with a higher nicotine level. 18-24mg. I started at 6-8 and it took a while to finally get off analogues. It seem the better performance of the Ego and Evod style seems to be the starter of choice today.

That's a somewhat ambiguous question. Do I answer it based on what I know now? Or based on what's available now that wasn't available three years ago? Or based on what I didn't know back then that would lead me to think what I would get of what's available now?

I have no complaints. I landed here first before buying anything. That led me to a 900 mAh Joyetech eGo kit, followed very quickly by a 1,000 mAh eGo kit to have backups - including a second charger. With atty and cartridges even that got me quit and was all I needed for my first nine months. Perhaps I should rephrase that - I still didn't need anything since the batteries were still fine. Buy quality stuff and it lasts.

No regrets. Anything bought after that was a learning experience and none of it broke the bank. There were two pieces of gear I wish I had not bought because one never worked right and the other died in 90 days. But you can't know that is going to happen before you buy every piece of gear. If I could have skipped the E-Power experience and the Tesla APV I would gladly rewrite history on those two. And Bogegate almost drove me right back to smoking in my first carto experiment days.

Thing is, I didn't know then what I know now, and I learned from every mistake that I made.
Hell, the industry didn't know then what it knows now!

Excellent point! There is also something to be said about graduating from the school of "Hard Knocks," right? I do value the learning curve I went through, progressing with my gear. But, dang, I wish I hadn't thrown so much money at some of it, lol! I guess that's price of my vaping education. Some of us slow learners' education costs a little more. ("Hmm, this little crappy thing sucks. I'll go buy another nearly identical one, or three. It surely will be much better than what I've got ).

How, when, and where one vapes determines what hardware works best for each individual. Started with the Ego tank (both A and B styles) but dropped them after several months due to leaking tanks. Switched to the Ego Twist batteries coupled with rebuildable clearomizers (Vision and Innokin). Switched to Vision Spinner batteries as I found the Ego Twist too fragile (they don't like being dropped or bounced around in my saddlebag). I've yet to have a Vision Spinner break and it's thicker size better fits my hand. My day-to-day hardware is now a Vision Spinner mated with a Kanger T3S. I get about 3 weeks use out of each $1.50 coil. I also have a Vamo that's limited to home use (too big to carry). I carry my extra batteries and 4 Kanger T3S clearos with various flavors in a zippered case whenever I leave home..

Yes, I can see the ambiguity you mention... Rather than clarify the specifics of the question, I would rather allow the ambiguity... I think the freedom of interpretation might allow more meaningful responses for individuals based on their specific experiences and unique perspectives. For example, I can respect and appreciate those who say "I wouldn't change a thing, even the crappy XYZ products taught me a valuable lesson," as well as those who say "I would buy a genuine ABC mod with copper shirt and titanum pants with a DEF atomizer octo-coil at 0.215 ohms net resistance using organic Lithuanian cotton harvested on the third Thursday in June."

I really like your response, by the way. The learning experience has been fantastic for me so far... even the stuff I didn't like.

I started out with the Halo G6 so I am very grateful that I liked it enough to quit smoking. That being said and knowing what I know now (and I certainly don't know everything), I would get:

1. a Provari and a few IBTanked tanks
2. another Provari and more IBTanked tanks as backup
3. a dripping atty to test juices
4. iClear 30 (they are juice hogs, but I do still like them)

I would pass on:

1. Protanks
2. Cigalikes
3. Rebuildable attys (at least for now)
