Haven't seen it yet, but my friends says it s*cked. Going to watch it anyway when i will be back at home.
I saw it in 3D, good decent story, kinda cheesy and the plot is overplayed a bit, but well written and acted. The 3D was not to much and was mild with some floaty things being the most noticable. CGI has came a long way but still needs to go further. The love story felt incomplete to me, the sarge felt to cheesy as well. It does feel as epic as any star wars and you do fell into the dream of worlds like this existing in a distant place.
all in all,, I give it a 8/10

Story was good but nothing new. acting was above par with a few big names. Now here is what differs I honestly wish i didn't watch it the first time in 3D because it took away the stunning visials. And those damn glasses arg. I watched it again online found a good quailty and was a lot happier watching it the second time. The visials of this movie really are why i give avatar a 9/10. I love what they did with there new CGI that they made for this movie and you can tell the actors enjoyed working with it as well. I hope to see it used in a lot more movies going forward.

Yeah, when rating this movie, it about 20% character story and 80% visual story. The visuals ARE a part of the story, because it's about another world. So the flora and fauna depicted are a big part of the movie overall.
Let's hope for more blue chicks too. I can't wait to see a new quentin tarantino film using it............... yep he would make some HAWT looking blue chicks.
????? This was well written? Some of the cheesiest dialog I've heard in a while and a totally predictable, run of the mill story we've seen before.
Same old product with slick new packaging. Mostly style and no substance (other than the most thinly veiled political statement ever in a movie).
Some of the visuals were cool but I'm not sure it was worth losing three hours of my life and $14 out of my wallet for.
Definately not a film to watch for the plot (but then anyone who saw the trailer knew that). In the same way that Titanic can be pared down to "The ship sinks, and there's a love story" this film is basically "Killing folk to access natural resources is bad, and there's a love story".
As a piece of entertainment I thought it MORE than justified the ticket price. The effects are astonishingly well done, to the point where you cease to notice them and just accept it. Given that for 80% of the film the main characters are pretty much completely CGI that's not a small accolade.
The basic plot is solid if unexciting, the action scenes are excellent, the characters are all fairly basic stereotypes but well played. I'd recommend it as a fun film to go and see.
If you want a genuinely GREAT film (by which I personally mean it really grabbed me emotionally as well as being fun) then go see "Where the wild things are". Film of the year for me.

I got to see Avatar in 3-D AND IMAX 3-D. Amazing visuals. Plotline could have taken a few risks but still awesome.
BTW Love the Serenity icon/sig. I'm a huge Firefly fan myself. Can't wait for Book's story to come out.
I saw it for the second time in IMAX today. OUTSTANDING!! Was rooting for the Navi the whole time. However I usually root for the underdog. Go see it.
This one has a better ending.

"well" to me does not mean great, or outstanding, I did not feel for the characters at all in any point of the movie, the plot is old and overplayed but still it is solid.
To be honest I enjoyed 2012 more, I was LOLing and cheering as cali sank into the ocean, and the plot twist with the ships was great, the whole movie was epic on a grand scale.
Avatar was decent, not epic, it felt more like star wars, while I prefer firefly and farscape.
But then I loved waterworld........ to each there own....
Well, I for one enjoyed Dances With Aliens. I mean, Wolves. I mean, Avatar.
The plot was the definition of "trite", but it was still a great experience, mostly due to the visuals. However, once I was able to suppress my reservations about the plot (this took place about 2/3rds through the movie), I even found that enjoyable. It's not going to surprise anyone, but the plot is still heart-warming. I won't be buying the film on DVD, but I am glad I went to see it.

The plot wasn't that great but it was good, but then again, I watched it for the immersive, everything is beautiful and amazing factor.
