FNG here. I got the Ego. About two years ago, took it to a smoke free bar in Colorado. An after a few minutes of token on the ecig, the bartender instructed me that I couldn't smoke in the bar, which I replied it's not smoke, it's vapor. She says it looks like smoke to the other customers and you can't use it in the bar! Say what! I can't understand the ignorance of most people! Ignorance is Bliss! Right?

I wasn't trying to be rude! I just wasnt thinking. It is a hole in the wall bar, not a nice restaurant. Some of the people in there had missing teeth! I didn't think they would care. I learned from my mistake!

I wasn't trying to insult you, I was just making a point everyone should consider. It's all good. :)

Yeah I agree, I should of asked first. wasn't thinking, at the time thought it was harmless. Plz don't think I'm an ...!

Never crossed my mind thinking of you like that...we all need to band together and show how responsible we are.

Like it or not, most people will still classify us with the smokers.

A lot of times if you don't ask the bartenders will just see a cloud of 'smoke' and already be thinking your doing something wrong. When they confront you and you explain, it doesn't matter because they already made up their mind before they confronted you that you are in the wrong. When you ask first and explain it, then they will generally take a more rational train of thought and be more lenient. At least that is true based on my experiences.

Stealth vaping is the way to go! I remember the shock of how bad a cigarette smelled at a 100' when i got my sense of smell back. I finally got why non-smokers reacted so negatively to cigarettes! I thought they were full of it- thinking they had to be in the plume I was creating to smell it. I pretty much vape where ever i want- I just do it in a way that no can tell what I'm doing. I avoid those kind of confrontations all together!
Like the others have said - best to ask if you are gonna let loose the big clouds! ;o)

Vaping in no smoking area's will not win you any friends. Smokers won't like it, non-smokers won't like it so. People were discussing vaping in movie theaters. Inhale, hold it, blow it down your shirt. I mean, give me a break. If you can't stop for a couple of hours then, like someone said, you're hurting the cause. The public perception of everything vaping is either going to help us or make us look like addicts so addicted that we can't even stop in a movie. Nobody is fooling anybody.

After asking permission from the management, I've never been told I couldn't vape in a bar or restaurant. More often than not, I end up spending several minutes explaining what it is and how it works and what forum to go to for learning more about it if the manager and the inevitable small crowd employees gathering around seem truly interested. A lot of times on my next visit I get showered with thanks for giving at least one or two the information that helped them on their way to a positive life change.

I don't PERSONALLY believe in the whole stealth vaping. IMHO the more one acts like they're trying to get away with something, the more wrong it is perceived. I feel obliged to spread the knowledge rather than hide in the shadows.

As a consumer, it's my right to either frequent an establishment or not. Should there come a day where permission to vape is denied, my patronage will simply go elsewhere.

Well the way I look it is the vapor can still effect someone allergies, I have had smokers ask me to not blow it to close to them before cause it bothered their eyes. I pretty much treat it like a cig and go outside. It may not be as harmful or whatever but it still can annoy or effect people.

While I agree with you, the problem is where do we draw the line? I was thinking about this last night randomly. When they do ban vaping inside establishments, what will the reasoning be? Even if we can prove that vapor doesn't contain anything harmful, what will be the reasoning for the ban? Because it's annoying? I was at a restaurant last week and a woman sat in the both directly behind me. All I could smell the whole meal was her horrendous perfume. It ruined my meal. If I was to complain about that, I would have been the ........ I can imagine people across the establishment complaining because the sight of vapor annoys them. What if someone walks in with a horrible haircut? Can I tell management to ask them to leave because their hair is annoying me?

Just for the record, I've never vaped inside of an establishment. I would rather not deal with the hassle of explaining it.

EDIT: Did I just get censored? What's the purpose of that? The kids under 18 that shouldn't be here anyways might learn new curse words?
