And here is the first dissent:

I vape everywhere. I don't ask first. I don't blow huge plumes of smoke, I keep it to myself out of respect for others. If there is a small amount of vapor coming from my nose, I may get a curious look but I certainly don't get told "it looks like cigarette smoke" because it doesn't resemble a cigarette at all. No big plume, no tobacco smell. Why would anyone mind? They don't. Because I have the common decency to keep it to myself and act as natural as can be. I don't feel I am doing anything wrong so I don't look at all guilty either.

If I went to a movie theater (which I don't because sitting that long is painful for my leg) then I would most likely vape and, again, no one would see any plumes billowing around me. That would be RUDE.

I would rather beg forgiveness than ask permission. The more people see it isn't like a cigarette at all, the more accepted it will be.

Hey, it's fine DF! It's as easy as falling off a log to be so enthusiastic about vaping. It's magical and yep, it's great to shout out about it. Just hang in there and be a conservative dude in places that don't understand the concepts. I really think most of the time publicans or restaurant proprietors sympathize, but the real problem is that they face the same grumpy "I know what's really what and the earth is flat" anti-smokers as we do - and the owners really don't want the hassle of locking horns with them. I'm glad you're getting on so well with vaping though. Way to go!!

Cool, thx for the input!

I vape at home and I vape in my car. Guess I'm a closet vaper...LOL I have not gone out in public well the main reason is I have worked and worked. At work I get in my car and drive to another location because vaping is not allow on the property. I don't want to cause issues by stealth vaping so I just drive to another location. Plus I get away for an hour and I am able to relax.
I wouldn't vape in a restaurant, at the movies, at the mall or any other location that is inside. I guess I am use to being outside being its been many years since the smoking ban in public places. I think that vaping needs time for people to understand what it is. I told a girl I work with who smokes that I vape and she started putting me down and saying that I wouldn't trust the e-cigs. I guess to each is own. Let people get use to what vaping is. Many people don't understand what it is. There are many non-smokers who never smoked can be rude and cause issues.

Hi vsummer, I wouldn't call it "dissent", you're being discreet. That's what I do too at work and in restaurants. If I need to have a puff, I keep it to myself as far as possible, and I haven't had anyone question it.

Already banned in some locations, google King County WA. Here is one report of why they said the ban was needed:

King County bans public e-cigarette smoking

The King County Board of Health passed a controversial proposal Thursday that bans the public use of electronic cigarettes, despite protests that the battery-powered, nicotine-delivery sticks emit no second-hand smoke and are often used for harm reduction.

The measure is not a complete ban on e-cigarettes. Rather, it prohibits e-cigarette smoking in the same places where real smoking is forbidden by the state, such as restaurants, bars and workplaces.

But the state's tobacco smoking ban, adopted in 2006, was based on the fact that second-hand smoke causes cancer and other diseases. The rationale behind King County's e-cig ban was a fear of eroding "social norms."

Health officials reasoned that the fake smokes - which emit a less-smelly, combustion-free vapor - are so similar to real smokes that they may cause people to think it's OK to smoke in public. And that may lead to more nicotine addiction and second-hand smoke, officials said.

"By returning smoking to the public eye, public e-cigarette use threatens to undermine the social norming impact" of the smoking ban, testified Scott Neal, manager of the tobacco prevention program for Public Health -- Seattle & King County.

The regulation also prohibits the sale of e-cigarettes, often marketed in bright colors and fun flavors, from minors. It also bans free giveaways and heavily discounted sales of the products."

The ban passed in Dec. 2010.

While I agree with you, the problem is where do we draw the line? I was thinking about this last night randomly. When they do ban vaping inside establishments, what will the reasoning be? Even if we can prove that vapor doesn't contain anything harmful, what will be the reasoning for the ban? Because it's annoying? I was at a restaurant last week and a woman sat in the both directly behind me. All I could smell the whole meal was her horrendous perfume. It ruined my meal. If I was to complain about that, I would have been the ........ I can imagine people across the establishment complaining because the sight of vapor annoys them. What if someone walks in with a horrible haircut? Can I tell management to ask them to leave because their hair is annoying me?

Just for the record, I've never vaped inside of an establishment. I would rather not deal with the hassle of explaining it.

EDIT: Did I just get censored? What's the purpose of that? The kids under 18 that shouldn't be here anyways might learn new curse words?
