Hey all,

Have a dual coil setup @ .9 ohms in my new-ish Igo-L, and it's hitting like a train. I'm not keen on being hit like a train though.

It's just a big harsh vape. It's not burning or anything, it's just strong. Makes me cough, even at 6mg nic.

I'm using the stock airhole for now and want to drill it/them out for a smoother vape. Though I have a garage full of tools, a 1/16 bit is as small as I have, and I couldn't find anything smaller at Lowe's.

I'm concerned a 1/16 hole will be too big and airy.

So should I wait and find a 1mm bit and drill a 2nd hole on the other side, for the 2nd coil, or just keep the single hole drilled out to 1/16?

Piggybacked question, just received my RSST and know I need to drill it out. Will 1/16 be too big for it?

IMHO, 1/16 is perfect for the RSST. I have two RSSTs. One I went a little larger on (5/64 if I remember) and, although it produced clouds, the draw was very airy and the flavor dropped off just a tad. On the other, I stuck with 1/16th and it seemed to be the perfect combo of vapor and flavor.

I'm not sure about the IGO-L, as I haven't used one. My understanding is that dual coil setups work best with a second hole next to the second coil; that way, they both have airflow.... but that's just from reading, not first hand experience. I use AGA-Ts, which are similar in size to the IGO-L, and did drill those to 1/16th as well. On a side note, I found drilling these caps to be a pain in the neck... they are thick, tough, and the polished surface dances your bits...

That's good to know for the RSST. I'll take a 1/16 on that one. The IGO-L though, I would think a 2nd hole for the 2nd coil would be appropriate, but then a 1/16 AND the original hole (1mm I think) will be too much draw. Looks like I'll need to hunt down a 1mm bit.
Thanks for your input.

Take a tapered Dremel bit and advance slowly, widening the hole a little at a time. Periodically check the draw and stop when you get it to your liking.

I'll have to check out my tool box, I might have one of these in my dremel kit. That should help fill the gap between the 1mm hole and the 1/16th. Not sure if I can use it for a new hole though.

OK, so I found a selection of small bits at Ace this morning. Bought the 1.1mm.
Drilled a 2nd hole adjacent to the stock hole on the rsst. Still too tight. Went to 1/16 on both holes. The draw is airy but smooth with tons of vapor. I'm happy.
Next came the igo-l. That was a beast. Broke the bit twice trying to punch through. Eventually gave up and used the 1/16 on both holes, one for each coil. Very airy but very smooth, flavorful, and vaporful. I don't cough my lungs out with 6mg nice now. Again.....very happy. 1/16" bit is the winner. Thanks all for your inputs.

What mm buts do you typically use. I used a 2mm bit but I think its a bit to airy. Is using 2 smaller holes better?

Yeah, 2mm is HUGE. A 1/16th bit equates to about 1.6mm. That's as high as I could imagine going. The stock holes are about 1mm.
As I said earlier, I put a 2nd 1.1mm hole on my RSST and it was still way too tight. Drilling them to 1/16th made it airy but it's hitting like a truck. The IGO-L already had a great draw, but the vape was too harsh and I had 2 coils, so needed 2 holes.
I'm really enjoying my RSST and IGO-L now, but I admit that I pretty much have to do a lung hit. I dont know that a "mouth hit" is even possible, but I'm getting massive clouds and flavor without choking, so it's working well.

Thank you for the tip! Knew I drilled it too large.

If you place the coil and wick right up to the airhole you will choke the airflow again. I use a 2.5mm airhole in my drippers its an amazing vape @5v 2 ohms.. 1/16 in genesis style..

I personally like 3/32 airholes. The coughing you are experiencing is definitely from the stock airhole. I didn't want to drill a second airhole on my igo-l because I like running single coils on it. However my only RBA that has two 3/32 airholes for dual coils is currently out of commission until I find some o-rings that fit it. I wanted a dual coil vape and all I have currently is my igo-l so I did dual coils on one side and they share the one 3/32 airhole. Its not a harsh vape at all. I'm actually really enjoying it. Definitely start small and find the right size airhole that you like
