So I recently started vaping to help me quit smoking. I bought myself an ego-t and have been using that for a few months. A friend of mine decided to buy me a igo-w dual coil dripping atomiser for Christmas but unfortunately I don't know what to do with it. I have know idea what batteries to buy or anything so my question is what gear do I need? I know it's a hard question to answer because it comes down to opinion but a few peoples opinions will give me a better picture. Thanks

I have an Igo-W and it is a great atomizer!

First, you need to learn about battery safety, especially since you will probably be vaping lower Ohms on the dual coil system. Read up on Ohms Law and understand what it means. Once you have learned which batteries can be used safely, figured out how many amps you will be drawing from you battery based on your build. I'd recommend any 18650 batteries with a high amp limit (20-30 amps). You'll also want to get a decent charger. I have a Nitecore and really like it.

You'll probably want to get a simple mech, as they really are the best for drippers, unless you are using a DNA 20 device. I'd recommend the Smoktech Magneto as it is simple, inexpensive, and works well.

You'll need building supplies, wick, wire, and a really good, reliable device/multimeter/ohms reader.

There is a lot to learn about RDAs and a million posts here on ECF to help you out and a million YouTube videos out there with building tutorials.

Hope this helps. Above all else, please do some research, learn about Ohm's Law and battery safety!!!

I have an Igo-W that I use with the MVP2 and it seems to be working pretty good. Once I get the hang of rebuilding it then I will be looking into a mechanical. I really think that the MVP doesn't do any justice to it as the amperage output and circuitry do not allow a low ohm coil. I could be wrong and if I am I would like to be corrected but that is what I am thinking.

i wouldn't start out with a mechanical mod. get yourself an MVP2 and start out with a single coil build.

I agree 1000%

dual coil and mechs are for advanced hobbyist vapors and there is going to be a lot of extra items you will need to purchase as RubyRoo stated. Do lots of research before jumping into rebuildables and especially dual coil builds

For quality vapor I prefer single coil small diameter topper.

Ahem, to defend myself, I only recommended a mech because that's my honest opinion as to what would pair best with a dripper. I own an MVP, and LOVE it. However, the Igo-W has a very short 510 connection, and doesn't fire on my MVP. I realize that I could pull the center pin, and I have in the past, only for it to get pushed back down by a Kayfun or a Protank. I didn't want the OP to go though the hassle of modding their mod, straight out of the box. Mechs are for the experienced, I agree 1000%, but they are not that difficult to understand once one has a grasp of Ohms Law and battery safety.

A few things you'll need:

-Kanthal resistance wire. I bought mine from Tecmo. I use 30 gauge for rebuilding. You're gonna have to read up on what to use. For a beginner I would go with 30 gauge.

- A type of wick. People who rebuild often use cotton. I use Sugar 'n Cream yarn. Easy to work with. Stock heads from manufacturers are usually silica. Cotton is easier.

- 1/16 drill bit. toothpick. micro screwdriver. or something else to wrap your kanthal around.

- A variable volatge mod with an ohm reader. I use an iTaste SVD.

- Batteries. I use AW IMR 18650 and a Panasonic NCR... something or other. don't feel like looking up the model number lol.

- Battery charger. I use an Xtar.

- You need to search Youtbue and watch videos. "rebuilding IGO-W".

- Patience.

So you think it's wise for the OP to jump from an ego to a dual coil on a mech. Even if th OP had read up on it for a week straight I don't think it's the right thing to do. Baby steps not leaps.

I wouldn't sentence a friend to an ego (not that there's anything wrong with that). A supra-ohm mech rebuildable may be worth consideration.

Thank you all so much, this has really helped. I much appreciate all the concern about me jumping from an ego to a mechanical mod but no one is more concerned than me. I like the ego a lot because it is relatively hassle free. Having said that it is starting to become quite boring and an upgrade of some description is necessary.

I have found many many way of preparing the igo and frankly I didn't feel comfortable enough to try it so I went to a vaping store in London and had it built for me. Being in the store also helped a lot as I didn't need to google every different mod I found, I could simply ask.

I now have rechargable Li-Mn batteries that I hope to put in a Smoketech Magneto or a Vamo v4. The build on my igo is an pure cotton wick with a 30 gauge kanthal which was wrapped twice around the wick. I hope to fire it up soon and see how it vapes. Thanks again everyone
