I found an email address for DJLsb Vapes, and I sent him a request for a review of theCaptain PD270. I love his detailed reviews and extensive testing. When he makes one for this, it should answer any and all questions about the Mod. :)
I love Phil Busardo's, too, but he takes so long in getting around to making one on a new device. :(

.
Just did mine :)

Hmm the 510 and battery door kinda suck

Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using Tapatalk
For those wondering it's basically the same exact design as the predator but with a dab of glue

Resistance all over the place... Any idea if the Fuchai Duo 3 is more accurate?

Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using Tapatalk
For watts mode? hard to say. I haven't tested it quite yet. for resistance reading yeah it's always within .1 so pretty normal

OMG doesn't fire on Aromamizer Plus your review just saved me well over $100 I had planned on picking up a Captain AND an Aromamizer Plus to use damn near exclusively with one another.

Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using Tapatalk
Some people have worked on theirs. others haven't so hard to say. Personally as of now I don't think it's worth the money but I do have a rainbow one on the way to test

Hi..u compete ? I'm not that deep yet..my 510 solid,straight,even..slight gap(short 510 cup).less than sheet of paper. Battery door solid as well.no wobble.
I didn't use a build,a Scylla tank w ni200 coil, .15 ohm,450°-500°at 55w (I like a cool vape) or a tfv8 t- 6 coil at 60- 70w..I'm satisfied.20700 batteries only 1/2 drained,17 hrs since 05:00est.-(long day)22:00 hrs. 200 puffs 5-8 sec each..
For a work mod,it's solid.got it in a flash bang pouch on my belt between my other utility pouches getting banged around pretty good.
When I get around to my builds, i use SxQ mini..I'll swap out and see..
Thx for the review

BTW..I thought I found my EDC mod w the predator, seriously
disappointed :(. Just like all the wismec devices I've owned and given away..510 b.s.
Cuboid Tap lightweight but constant pressure needed w weak physical fire button.
Alien too fragile, ipv 6,8 battery door pops open at the worst times.
Fuchai 213 good door but fragile also. .510 top plate bends if knocked around..
The higher quality mods I won't take out to work. Not a 9-5 job.
The only device that can take a real beating, imho..is the Cuboid 150. Locking battery door, solid feel (like a roll of quarters) & good battery life..just hate the tiny screen..
this Captain is holding up so far (no silicone cover yet)..I'm wondering if any of you have experience w the Boxer mods..they look durable.

Just did mine :)

Wow! I wonder if a firmware update will fix any of that. Mine came in today and I was like

upssmiley1_zpsde1f4ddd.gif

But after opening the package... My first impression was a little disappointing. I guess it wasn't what I was expecting. Guess maybe I thought it would be bigger and heavier, but more than that; it seemed kinda flimsy (I may have to retract that later and I do). My battery door is nothing like yours. It seems perfect compared to that. No sideways flopping around and it latches well, but the Mod itself feels kinda cheaply made (at least without 20700 batteries). The weight without batteries is quite nice. I liked the feel in the hand (I have big [not fat] hands), and I liked the placement of the power button, but the carbon fiber stickers were loose at the outer edges. I pressed them down and they stayed. The screen and back are easily marred and scratched. Thinking it had a protective applique on it, I tried to remove it and the screen was messed up a little by my fingernail. The front and back panels (the Screen and the one with the Captain logo) are marred and not perfect looking, right out of the box.

RANT
Hey iJoy... We want and need something much better for these kinds of things!!! Juice spills are inevitable, but getting messed up this easily is absolutely ridiculous!!! At least put a protective applique on them to protect them before the package is even opened. But there has to be a type of glass or something that could be used instead of this cheap plastic, plexiglas, or whatever it is. This isn't the first device I've said this for, but I think it's about time for something better.
/RANT

I put my 20700s on charge and put two Samsung 30Q in the 18650 adapter. Because it's made of silicone, I thought the adapter might be sticky and make the batteries hard to put in, but it fits 30Qs perfectly. They slide in and out easily. I found the menu intuitive and easy to navigate so I didn't look at the manual, but when I fired it up with a Twisted 26g SS316L Dual Coil build in a Horizon DUOS SUB Tank's RTA, I didn't get much vapor at all.

I had to leave, and I'm just now getting back home. Then I saw your video. :( There isn't a firmware update at the iJoy website yet, so I really hope they'll be addressing this Roaming Ohms thing. I haven't experienced that for myself yet (that I noticed), but it could have been why mine didn't work well in Temp Control. BTW, the stickers stayed in place, but I haven't used the Mod and Tank since I left.

I don't have equipment for extensive testing and data recording, but I'll try it with the iJoy 20700s to see if that helps at all. More on that later.

Thanks for this! I had to wonder if maybe he got a bad Mod. The battery door is an indicator of that. I'll try mine with a few tanks to see what I think. Wish I had some comprehensive test gear, but I don't.

I noticed the Boxer DNA 250, but I wasn't attracted to it at all. Not sure if I really want another DNA device anyway. I use my SX Mini Q Mini a lot now. And it handles things like the GUO Altus and the Horizon Krixus better. They use Tungsten surrounded by ceramics, and the DNA 200 doesn't regulate well with them.

I've also been concerned about the bottom battery door trend. My Cuboid (the original model) would pop open with the least provocations, so I took it apart, worked on it, and put it back together. It worked perfectly for a while, but it's going bad again. My IPV 6X pops open too, but I haven't messed with it yet. It's OK as long as I'm careful with it. The doors pop open the most when setting the Mods down. I figured I'd just never buy another bottom battery door device, and I probably won't, but this one is here now so I'll see how it holds up over time.

I'm feeling much better about the Mod now!!!

The RTA build in my Horizon DUOS SUB Tank was built using Vapers Choice Cotton (VCC). This was my first build ever using VCC. In first attempt, I apparently didn't use enough to fill the juice channels and it leaked, so I rebuilt it with the same coils using more (longer tails to tuck in). The vapor was lessened and the flavor wasn't very good. I had overstuffed the juice channels, so I set it aside for a while and used a second one (I have two) with the DUOS SUB Kanthal coil heads. The RTA still needed to be rebuilt when I tried it on the Captain, so that's the build I posted about earlier with two Samsung 30Q in the 18650 Adapter.

I replaced those batteries with two iJoy 20700 and tweaked the build by removing some of the cotton from the juice channels, but leaving the same amount inside the coils. The VCC seems to be working well now with no leaks. I had to mix more DIY to try it again, so that's mostly what took me so long to get back here. Plus the fact that I stopped for a beer while I was out. :D

One thing I learned from the video review that @Anthony_Vapes posted was how to lock the Ohms, so I did that this time. I hadn't even thought about that before because I was too eager to try my new Mod. I really think you have a bad/faulty device there, brother.

It's working like a Charm now! The Ohms stay locked and don't jump around (not that I noticed it before). The Temperature is regulating with SS316L in a Twisted 26g Dual Coil. The Mod feels like it's supposed to with two 20700 in it. While the Power Button is large, it does not protrude, so finding it blind (without looking) will be something to get used to, but I like it otherwise. And again, the battery door on mine is flawless (so far). I'm still a bit disappointed with the "plastic" on the front and back (Screen and Captain logo panels), but overall, I'm very satisfied with the Mod and iJoy Batteries.

Tanks and the 510:
My Captain PD270 has a raised lip on the 510 to airflow for older tanks, so nothing will be totally flush. However:
The Horizon DUS SUB Tank is very close to flush. Tank sits straight and looks great.
The Eleaf Melo 2 has a larger gap because its 510 is longer, but the tank sits straight.
The Vaporesso Target Pro Tank is close to flush. The Tank sits straight.
- After noticing the Mod's raise 510, and the results above, I stopped testing the 510.

Adjusting the Temp in Temp Control Mode:
This may be in the manual, but I found a way to change the Temp setting without entering the menu. If I just press (+), for example, the Wattage will increase in Temp Mode, but if I double press the Power Button and then quickly press (-), I can then adjust the Temp. It took me a few minutes to figure out a repeatable procedure, but this works for me.

Further comments on the 18650 Adapter:
Samsung 30Q 18650s slide in and out easily with no fuss. The batteries can be changed without removing the adapter; they slide out of the adapter when the Mod is tilted. YMMV with the batteries used, but I tried every make and model that I have with the same results. The only caution I would make, aside from using quality 18650s that will safely accommodate the Amps you'll be requiring from them, is to take care when inserting/replacing the batteries. The door is embossed with a (+) & (-), so please pay attention to that. I haven't inserted them incorrectly in any fashion to test the battery protection, but there's no need to push things here.

My Charger:
I was able to charge four iJoy 20700 in the Efest LUC Blu6 Charger. Four of them will not fit side by side in the 18650 slots, so I charged two of them in the center, and two in the 26650 slots on the outer sides. The length fits comfortably with room to slide them back and remove them easily, without damaging the wrapper on the positive terminal. While Mooch said that they can be safely charged at 2 Amps without reducing battery life, I have a habit of charging my 18650s at 1 Amp, so I left it that way.

Mine was given to me by Urvapin for the purposes of this review. I bought the iJoy 20700s from them. Got a good deal on them, too! The Captain's door is a good one so far.

My Cuboid was given by Heaven Gifts for a review. I bought the IPV 6X from a vape store in New York. I'm not really fond of bottom battery doors.

The Captain's door is push down and slide in to latch. So is the IPV 6X, but it doesn't latch well enough. The Cuboid has a troublesome center lock that has to be pushed, and then the door pops open. That latching system is what goes bad in them.

I treat mine as well as possible, but chit happens. The Cuboid and IPV 6X left a bad taste for bottom battery doors. The Captain PD270 is doing very well so far. I'm hoping that thought has been (and will be) put into the lifespan of bottom battery doors, if they intend to keep using them on our devices.

I found the stickers for the Captain PD270 at Urvapin, quite by accident. I searched the site for "iJoy" in the dropdown, with "captain" in the search field, and there they were.

They have 12 different ones for $6.99 each. Here's a link to them.
