I'm planning on picking one of these up soon as my main mobile vape. Question to you guys that have it: Will it work with the protected Trustfire 10440 600mAh batteries? I can get a 2 pack for like 5 bucks online, plus the ultrafire 10440s are impossible to find 600mAh batts... they only come in 500mAh everywhere else which is only an effective 305mAh.

Another question, how long does a battery last on a fresh charge if you vape heavily? I'm used to stock 510 batteries that die in a very short time. I also have one mega battery which lasts longer, but only about 2 hours max.

I don't think any of the 10440s are more than about 350 mAh. Some sites that sell the 600 mAh actually say they were labeled wrong and are only about 350 mAh. And unless it is totally different and new technology, a 600 mAh batt would have to be almost twice as large as a 350 mAh. The material (Li-ion) dictates the max voltage (max 4.2V), the amount of that material dictates the longevity of the battery.

BTW this is the same batt that the 510 PT uses. It will give a voltage on the atty coil of about 3.4V. A regular 510 batt gives a voltage of about 3.1V. So somewhat better, and will last longer.

Its a nice little device. As I have a bunch of 10440s and a charger, might have to pick one up. That is, when they get more in. Out of stock for 510s at present.

Just ordered some here:

TrustFire Protected 10440 600mAh 3.7V Battery [TrustFire 10440] - $1.98 : High Tech DealZ, Simplifying the LASER Hobby!

I ordered them to go with the KR laser I ordered from Isaac. Looking forward to getting my hands on both.

Yeah, I'm glad these are now available stateside. They will not be 600 mAh, though, although that is how they will be labeled on the batt. If you find that at DX, you will see this. More like 350 mAh, but YMMV. Still a very good price, and a good battery. I have some, and they are definitely not 600 mAh. Last a little longer than a 280 mAh mega batt.

This is my first go around with 10440s. If they last a little longer than the Megas, I won't be complaining.

What kind of life expectancy is there for these?

If you drain to 80% and recharge everyday its five years. (This battery will go to 4.2 volts on a full charge, 80% is around 3 volts)

if you drain to 10% and recharge a few months.

IF you drain to 5% it is now garbage.

Most devices will not let you drain it this low. (Joule thief exempted)

li ion are a new breed and the rule of thumb is charge often and do not leave in storage discharged.

Hi moonreft,

I am wondering how you know how much has been discharged. Thanks.

901/KR Cartomizer LPV review

Shipping was fast from PA to CA in 2 days packed nicely in original laser box.

First major problem is battery fitting. The spring needs trimming to fit the 10440 with this mod.

2ed major problem the battery cap is NOT the correct thread. This problem will be a deal killer. The only solution will be thread seal that will continue to make a mess and cause battery changing to be a chore.

3rd problem is related to #2; because of the bad ground the power is inconsistent. Very low vapor I hope improves with use. We had these problems with Chinese lasers and it caused lasers to short in and out or be a very weak beam. Threads appear to be metric another problem that may or may not have a solution.

4th problem is the o-ring. This O-ring is of the -100 series what it needed is a -0** size. Not a problem at all for me I have thousands of them at work and will fix this in the morning. This will cause the battery to become even tighter then it already is, hence the spring cut needs to be done first to fit.

Had high hopes on a US artisans project but it is incomplete. Price needs to be lower to stay competitive with ready to go models or he needs to spend more time with the aboved mentioned items.

Thanks for the review, I thought it was just me having trouble fitting the battery. All I've heard is how wonderful they are and no one seemed to be having trouble fitting the batteries, I really thought it was me having problems with the unit since I bought it 2nd hand. Also that O-ring did come off and fits kind of awkward, I don't know how to cut the spring so I guess I'll expect it to short out on me sooner or later. Thanks again.

I been using 10440 ultrfire from DX, no fitting issues at all. The threads on the end cap could definitely use some improvement but has worked without a hitch so far. Life of the battery is about three hours for me and the rechargeable batteries last about two months. Produces plenty of vapor and has been very dependable for the last couple of months. The size is perfect and the batteries are cheap to replace. :)

moonreft and jcamacho something else I thought of last night after I had left the pc.

Which direction are you putting the batteries into the laser?

I remember seeing one or two other people who were having an issue with not getting as much vapor and it turned out they were putting the batteries in backwards.

I just took one battery and tried putting it in backwards and while it will fit it is definitely more difficult to get in that way.

The battery should be placed in with the positive end toward the keychain cap and the negative end toward the atomizer.

Here's hoping that is the issue since it will be an easy fix for you ;)

Thank you Thy, that's exactly what I was doing putting in batteries backwards-positive towards the atomizer! Feel foolish now but I didn't think the Lazer would work if batteries were installed wrong way. Thanks for your help again.

Don't feel foolish jcamacho. I did the same thing at first. :D

Something to do with electrical polarity the battery works in either direction I think. Correct me if I am wrong cause I really don't know just guessing. The reason I have been putting the battery in with negative(smooth flat surface) in first is that it mitigates the chance of the vent holes at the positve end from getting hung up in the wire spring inside thus damaging the spring. For some reason the battery seems narrower at the postive end also which fits in the end cap better. Been using unprotected ultrfire 10440 from DX.
