I have a rifle and a shotgun for sport, period. I wouldn't have a handgun if someone gave it to me. Seeing as they pretty much have one purpose. I am thankful that I live in the last state that does not allow conceal carry. I know people are frightened and it's a sticky topic. I don't know if there is a right answer. Probably should be left up to the locality to decide.

well I hope no one would never take a life. It is a lot to bare on some ones mind to have done it. But in the end no one knows how they will do in a time were it is necessary to do so until it happens.

I have some guns and I will keep buying more til I think I have as many as I need
(that will be the day my wife thinks)
I do not want to take a chance on my life or my 3 girls at home waiting on me.
Also with the crime rates at Ft. Hood my wife will kick some A** if any one tries to come in unwelcome.

Yeah I do understand where you are coming from Sarge. I live in a very rural area but I am very secluded. Matter of fact most people do not even know we are here unless they know us. Our house is in the middle of 15 wooded acres with no views from the road. I do have an alarm system and a heavy duty baseball bat but no guns. I feel sure that hubby or myself could subdue an intruder long enough for help to arrive in the event that we needed to.

Now that movie sounds extra dumb but I may just have to watch it. HEY! You should get a package in the next few days :)

It's a funny movie with George Clooney. I liked it.
Hello Army and Sarge. I hope you guys are having a good day.
I guess you could give up the guns and just set traps.

about 8 years ago I was held up right outside of a 7/11 at knife point. The man got my wallet and with it 2 months rent ( I was on my way to the landlords house). Had I been carrying my pistol like my dad always told me to do I wouldn't have lost my first apartment to some scumbag too damn lazy to earn his own way. no one is going to impose a law on me that denies me the right to protect what I have earned. We all should have the choice, concealed carry laws that deny that choice just make it easier for the people who will take advantage of the fact that victims have no protection. BTW, pepper spray and tasers aren't permanent enough to be any sort of real deterrent to someone desperate for another bag of drugs.

Unfortunately, where I am at (in the middle of 200 wooded acres, a couple of miles from a "neighbor" and 45 minutes from town) it isn't really intruders we are worried about. I imagine if we are using a gun for protection it will be a bear on the other end. The hubby has already had to pop a cyote in the bum for going after one of our dogs.

Or if you would have had knuckles with very long and sharp keys protruding from each one you may have had a shot LOL My mom was born and raised in Hells Kitchen and taught all of her daughters some very cool tricks :)

My grandfather had a number of rifles as he liked to hunt from time to time (.30-06, 12 ga, etc). He took me out once and taught me to fire his .30-06. I turned out to be a natural and hit the target (a 4x6 piece of paper stuck to tree) with a 3 inch grouping. He used a stick to get it to hang on the tree and my first shot took the stick out. The next 4 shots were 1" below and 1" apart in a circle. This was with iron sights from about 20 yards. I'd like to get a .45 or a 9mm but we'll probably start with a .22 so my gf can learn how to shoot before stepping up. She's never fired a gun of any kind before. She had a healthy fear of them since she six when she was accidentally shot with a .22 so it's good to see her overcoming her fear.
