Well, I'm not black, but where I work, here in Costa Mesa, CA, there is a black guy that vapes. When I was struggling with vaping, and beginning to feel defeated, his monster clouds continued to inspire me to keep working on it. I even picked up a couple of nautilus Minis because that's what he has. Turns out there's another black guy here that smokes, but he had been watching me vaping for some time, and now he wants to vape. Kinda interesting how things turn out.

I love my Nautilus and the Minis too. :) I dont do the clouds, but the volume of vapor is way more satisfying than a cigarette especially if you have an awesome flavor to use. :)

Yeah, I definitely feel that volume of vapor is important when switching off cigarettes (I guess to make up for the missing tar). The more vapor I get, the less I think about smoking; and when I do smoke, the smoke volume seems anemic by comparison. Funnily, even though the Atlantis makes me cough, I don't want to put it down.

Bull. What's up devil dog? Oooh Rah. Welcome to the boards and congrats on your new "quit" life. I'm glad you're here. Just the other day I was saying "You know what we need? We need some Diversity in here" (although, at the time I was using diversity as a code word for "bikinis").

Either way... I think you're going to like it here and even though you're just barely out of post-jail you're already adding to the collective with your sweet vape-stand idea. Nicely played.

Again, welcome and I'll see you around the boards.

This is amazing! Such an overwhelming welcome from this place. I love it. :)

I have become spoiled by the Vamo, and I have already ordered a V5. Im seeing lots of people talk about the Provari and although I love the design and finish, I dont like the single button operation for the settings. For me it was a dealbreaker. The Vamo with it's two separate settings buttons and the larger fire button seems perfect. Im still on the fence about getting any of the mechanical mods or those heads with the coils you have to wind, because I am completely uninterested in blowing huge clouds or having to drip juice on the atomizer every time I want to vape. Im not sure if all of them operate this way because I am relatively new at it. I like the mechanical mods because they seem to have the widest variety of designs, but it seems the whole reason they exist is to make giant fog clouds. Is there a reason other than there being no electronics in them, to have one?

Can anyone here point me to one of the forums here where people are using mods but are not cloud chasers?

No, not really. There was a time where it was really the only way to accomplish certain goals, but you can get the same effect with a 1.5 ohm coil and cranking up the watts some as you'd get from a lower one. There are limits to this (you have to have low ohms to read the upper limits of some of the 100w+ boxes), but to many people they're becoming a bit obsolete due to newer box mods that provide a host of other benefits.

The lack of electronics can have benefits in terms of ruggedness (you'll only ever be replacing a switch or spring or magnets or top cap over it's life), and there is an aspect to it that many just enjoy. e.g., there was a time where you wanted a manual transmission to get the fastest lap with a good driver, whereas now it'll actually often be slower if a driver is shifting manually instead of using an automatic -- yet many enthusiasts want to do the shifting themselves.

If it doesn't feel like something that you *have* to do for whatever reason, you'll probably be happiest with a regulated box mod.

Any of them, just be upfront and concise about what your goal is. You can make unregulated-mod builds that are focused on flavor, or ones that are focused on clouds, often using the exact same hardware.

This is helpful. :) I got nothing against the cloud chasers when they are in the vape bars and such, but Im an older guy and where I vape is usually in the company of others my age and social level. There are many smokers in my generation, and many of those are discovering vaping. But in the vape stores you see the younger vapers winding coils, blowing huge clouds and holding big mech mods. That is cool for what they are doing, but that is no place for a smoker to start when switching to vaping. The cigalikes, although nasty, serve a great purpose for transitioning to vaping. I used a Blu. Once I got the Ego/clearomizer setup, I was able to quit completely.

Now, I have a bunch of glass tanks and I still have the Egos but APVs like the Pro Vari and Vamo represent the best experience for me so far. I tried the mech mods and they make monster clouds and have very warm vapor but they still feel like too much. Too extreme for my taste. Im not going to wind any coils or carry juice with me.
