I used to be able to eat ridiculously spicy food when I was a smoker. I can't anymore. The super hot stuff is unbearable. I still like my spicy food, but I no longer have the protective layer of tar on my tongue lol.

Had a Big Mac for lunch today and it tasted very different than usual. Not as good as it usually is.
I strongly suspect my taste buds are changing.
While this is likely a good thing in the long run (we all know McDonald's is crap food), the Big Mac has been ol' reliable for me as a quick fast food thing.

I can relate, but it didn't push me into a bout of melancholy. I think I have eaten at McDonald's all of twice since I started vaping. All I could taste was grease and fat, and in the background some kinda texture that was posing as meat. (I think it was meat.) Actually, overall there was more texture to it than flavor. What were those green-ish, semi... ok - not crunchy at all bits? Oh - "lettuce."
All I really remember - clearly - was the taste of fatty grease. Or is that greasy fat? Whatever it is, since my sense of taste improved I just don't do "that" any more.

When I worked at the restaurant down under, there was a soup we would rarely make. Chicken tortilla. So when the ingredients arrived and it was the "soup of the day", it was a special treat for both the employees and the customers. Oh, it was delicious.
But then I switched to vaping. Three weeks later, the ingredients for the chicken tortilla soup came in and, once again, it was the soup d'jour. It made me physically nauseous. The smell turned my stomach so bad that I had to excuse myself from a table. I could smell it across the restaurant. I felt like Wolvie or a psychic inundated with too much data. The smell to this day sickens me, and it was once my favorite soup.
To those not sure if your sense of smell and/or taste will come back, yes, yes, it does. In full force. With a vengeance.

Vape for your health. I love to cook so McDs was never an option for me really, but the food I cook taste better. I use less things like salt to bring out flavor.
You can get over the little sad with a Wendy's Frosty!
