Here is my story, maybe it will help. First let me say vaping will never taste the same as an analog cigarette. They are two different things. Now having said that I vaped off and on for a year and a half and still smoked 3 packs a day. What got me off analogs were two things. One, read this: http://thepreppersite.com/uploads/Allen_Carr-Easy_Way_To_Stop_Smoking.pdf. The second thing, which others have mentioned, is juice with Whole tobacco Alkaloid or WTF. I have been off analogs for over 2 months now and will never smoke again.

Just started myself... bought some disposable Blu ecigs to get me through until my Volt rig showed up. Not even in the same league. Blu had next to nil throat hit... if you've ever tried a Marlboro Ultra Light, you know what I mean; it's like smoking air through a silly straw no matter how hard you draw.

The Volt, aside from being heavier than a cig, "feels" like a ciggy drag, good throat hit. That said, I really don't care for any of their juice flavors, so I've got samples of others coming. For right now, their Desert Joe is a not-completely-unpleasant experience in 24ml (2.4%) nicotine level... a little sweet for my taste.

I'm also new to vaping and need the basic info as well! I bought a kit from the kiosk in the mall only to discover their carts were PG and made in China. I found this out ONLY after I got sores and raw areas in my mouth. Learned that about 3% of the population is allergic to or has bad reactions to PG. Guess I'm in the 3%... lucky me!

I need to know that next best route to go. Need to know the best and not necessarily most expensive system/starter kit to buy and also the best US made flavored VG carts or juice. The Chinese made disposables I tried really let me know that I wasn't attracted to the menthol, but the nicotine and the "hand to mouth" desire. I am looking for that someone who has made the expensive mistakes already and can advise the best way to go early on in the e-cigs game! Please forgive me as I really don't know the lingo yet!!

Any suggestions? I really don't want to go back to the analogs right now but need to make a decision asap.

Most important is that you genuinely want to quit, not just "need" to quit. Desire and motivation has to be present. With those two things present, you can do it.

Probably what can best be learned from this already too long thread is to just jump into vaping with something. That way you will be able to figure out what works best for you. The experienced and successful vapors here all took a different road to where they are now. And yours will be unique also.

Start simple. You'll need batteries to power the attachments that make vapor. Then you will need those attachments. There are many kinds of both batteries and attachments to use on them. And then there is the juice that becomes vapor. Don't forget a battery charger for those batteries, too.

If a battery the size of a skinny cigar doesn't turn you off, get an Ego Twist. You'll probably have more success with these because of longer battery life than the cigarette look-a-likes. A respectable company to deal with is AltSmoke with quality products, good prices, customer service, and fast delivery is AltSmoke.com | Personal Vaporizers | Electronic Cigarette | Ecigs | Your one stop shop!.

I would recommend the following for a best friend interested in getting started vaping:
___________

Ego Twist battery x 2 - AltSmoke.com | Personal Vaporizers | Electronic Cigarette | Ecigs | AltSmoke.com | eGo-C Twist Battery

USB ego battery recharger
x 1 - AltSmoke.com | Personal Vaporizers | Electronic Cigarette | Ecigs | eGo Series - USB Battery Charger - Chargers - Accessories

ego - usb wall adaptor x1 AltSmoke.com | Personal Vaporizers | Electronic Cigarette | Ecigs | eGo-C - USB Wall Adapter - Chargers - Accessories

Vision clearomizer x 3-4 - AltSmoke.com | Personal Vaporizers | Electronic Cigarette | Ecigs | Vision Clearomizer - AltSmoke

bottled e-juice x 3-4 - AltSmoke.com | Personal Vaporizers | Electronic Cigarette | Ecigs | | AltLiquid | Buy electronic cigarettes| Cigarettes Electronic| Cigarette Electronic Cigarette| Best Electronic Cigarettes | Electronic Cigarettes
________

Battery times are calculated roughly by this formula: 100 mah = 1 hr (650 mah = 6.5 hr; 1000 mah = 10 hr)

I chose clearomizers for you as they are easy to fill with juice and easy to use. You can see your juice levels as you vape. These should last you 2-4 weeks each.

You could try cartomizers in place of clearomizers; also easy to fill and cheaper, but you are unable to see juice levels and therefore knowing when to refill becomes an issue with beginners. The choice is yours to make. AltSmoke.com | Personal Vaporizers | Electronic Cigarette | Ecigs | Short eGo Dual Coil Cartomizer - eGo Cartomizers & eGo Clearomizers - Cartomizers - Accessories

I didn't make any juice flavor selections for you; taste is so subjective you must decide what you might like. If you were a menthol cigarette smoker, I recommend an Ice Menthol. Otherwise, your options are wide open. I recommend getting 3-4 bottles of different flavors to try at first.

I think this is a nice starters kit. I tried to keep costs low but also tried to keep everything simple for a beginner. Best of luck!

Hi Sunshyne, welcome to the forum :).

There are many suppliers ejuice suppliers. My favorite is VaporGod. They have awesome juices and a review system so you can actually read what other people say about them. They also have sample packs.
I would suggest an eGo battery and a Mini Vivi Nova. Very easy hassle free! My favorite vaping device, and believe me I have tried plenty.

Thanks so much for the welcome! I really appreciate all of your help in trying to make the 3rd time a charm!

I will check out the links and items you suggested and will hopefully have all of the items I need to "really" start vaping in the mail no later than tomorrow! Just curious, can I have a couple different flavors going at the same time or readily switchable with the eGo as I can with my cheapy/expensive disposables? What do I need to buy to be able to switch out flavors during the day if it is even possible? Are the tanks or carts removable without leaking and can they somehow be sealed to preserve the integrity of the ejuice inside them? Sorry, but I really don't know how they work.

Yes, you can put individual flavors in separate clearomizers or cartomizers, and remove from the battery w/o worrying about leaking.

Once filled with juice and the mouth piece tip is screwed on, the clearomizer's juice is self contained. Once filled and topped off with a press-on tip, the cartomizer will not leak juice when removed from the battery.

Most vapors have a few of either (or both) the clearomizers or cartomizers at one time, each filled with a different flavor. You can change the flavor of a clearomizer by emptying it of its liquid, rinsing it with water and drying it out, and refilling with another flavor. Cartomizers are more difficult to change flavors, as they typically have a polyfill material (not unlike a cig filter) that retains the original flavor.

Below is a demo of the clearomizer:

My 1st try was a Blu disposable from Walgreens. I bought three of them and by the end of the day, the bbatteries had run out on all of them. Costing $10 a piece, I though it to be a huge waste of money. I didn't like the flavor either.

If money isn't a problem, go for a minimum of a Joyetech eGo-T Twist. If money is absolutely no problem, go to the top and get a Provari. There will be a small learning curve, but it's not that difficult, and there are etube video's on how to use them, and you will also get support from the forum members.

No, we aren't supporters of any company. We're a group of people that all have the same goal, quitting analogs!

I just bought exactly this, got it today, it is wonderful. Perfect starter kit IMO. Total cost with 2 sample size bottles of juice was about $75, so hardly more than the starter kits from things like Blu. I started on Blu, and actually quit for 6 months, but they are so unreliable and over priced I went back to real cigs. This hits perfect and hard every time and it exactly what I wanted.

Major thanks to Baditude for recommending this setup, its wonderful!

Also altsmoke seems pretty good. I ordered it on Thursday, and got it today (2 days later).

What size batteries did you end up choosing and what juices? How are the clearomizers working for you?

for simplicity and performance, i'd say the ego twist is a great starter. it's small, reliable, versatile, and it'll give you a taste of the whole variable voltage craze. get yourself a couple of vivi nova mini tanks and some good juice (for that morning nic buzz, i'd recommend backwoods brew 555 exotic at 24mg), and experiment.

...no, i do not work for an e-cig company. i wish i did.

LIKE THAT,this place bans people for giving real reviews. Everything is spam. this place is spam, youtube is spam, internet is spam but having said that you can find info if you look hard enuff. you might find real reviews of products that ecigforum has not yet banned for personal agenda
Before you are banned for ignorance and stupidity, why not offer something positive and not be negative? :glare:
