OK, I am so excited about this whole e cig thing..As with anything i get excited about, I have been doing a lot of reading (and youtubing)...but MAN I'm overwhelmed and a bit confused...So many different models...so many different suppliers! Here is my story!

My brother purchased a M602 form electronic-cigz..I tried it I immediately now want to purchase an e-cig. I am NOT a cigarette smoker but I do enjoy smoking cigars and pipes. (not on a daily basis) So I don't need something thats going to last me through each day..I love the auto battery and I love the look of the compact M602 (not to mention the LED...who doesn't love LED's?) But as I kept looking around I saw there are much larger models (Silver bullet, Protege, prodigy, etc)

SO what should i do? get a 602 like my brother? Get a Joye 510?..Go with one of the bigger models? I'm overwhelmed with my options! Like I said, I'm not doing this to quit smoking or to supplement smoking.. I just love smoking cigars and pipes for the taste and the act of smoking. Do those larger, cigar sized, models taste better than the smaller 602 type cigs?? If so is it worth it to have something 3 times the size and half as cool looking? (in my opinion)

If someone could enlighten me in the main differences between the little cigarette size models and the larger cigar models that would be GREAT! And if you could point me in the way of a reputable and reliable dealer that would be BETTER!! Any help would be greatly appreciated and I look forward to being a contributing educated member of this forum in the future!! :)

I ordered a Tornado kit from Totally Wicked USA after a buddy of mine had been vaping for about a month. He had tried the Blu, Titan, and then finally the Tornado. The tornado is pretty much a regular 510 but it has a better and bigger battery that lasts a lot longer than the mini-ecigs or pen style ones. With those, depending on how much you vape, you might have to charge and recharge batteries several times a day, along with having several spares at hand at all times.
It produces good vapor and looks nice. I am very happy with it. The Totally Wicked customer service has been great to me, and their separate forum has helped too, though this forum is much better.

I guess I am going to have to be the first buzz kill here. If you are not a normal smoker - IE about a pack a day - then LEAVE THE E-GIGS ALONE!!! Don't add an addiction you don't need. I have been fighting it for 18 years and it is way not north getting hooked on. Just my two cents.
yeah, I wasn't going to say anything...I think I'm officially on the fence now.

The no nic option is probably your best bet. No need to use nic just for the action of smoking pipes. If you like smoking pipes though I suggest a e cig pipe. I think there is also e cig cigars around. 510s are always a safe bet too. It's what I use and seems to be a good all round device. Atomatic batteries I would say don't bother. It seems cool for a little while that you just hit it and it goes but after a week or two I think you will notice problems with it. Manual batteries have been one of the most valuable changes for me. Many automatics have auto cutoffs and also can go off in your pocket as well as malfunction in general. I have two old auto batts that just sit unless it is a dire situation. Also my two cents on carts: If you plan to just vape (0 nic juice i would hope) every once in a while, I would go with directly dripping the liquid on the atomizer. Doing this will get you 5 or 6 good draws before you need to drip some more. Carts can be a huge pain to get to work properly, and also cost more in the long run. I love to use carts but have only been getting good results since using the blue aquarium filter foam mod. (you can find that on the forums). As I'm sure you have noticed there are a lot of options. The only way to really figure out what is good for your needs is to try something. Hope this helps. By the way, don't go using the nic juice unless you want an addiction you didn't have.

yeah...non-smoker's pro/con vaping arguments...

pro argument:
*nicotine is no worse than coffee as addictions go
*if you're going to smoke at all, better to vape instead (the only good cigarette is the one you didn't smoke)

anti argument:
*what will you do once you're hooked on vaping? Hooked on nicotine is hooked on nicotine no matter how you slice it or try to pretty it up. (and will you then switch to smoking when they're banned?)
*nobody knows yet what the long term health effects are of using PV's, so why risk it?

so, yeah, on the fence here....

Oh sry forgot to include good places to get stuff. If you go the 510, 901 route electronicstix.com has pretty decent prices on parts. For the juice I havn't found better prices than awesomevapor.com (16ml + a 3 ml bottle to try a diff flavor for $10). I havn't purchased anything from madvapes.com, (will soon for building mods) but they have a $30 510 kit. Jantyusa is a fine dealer but expect to pay a little more. All of the sites mentioned have great customer service (aside from madvapes which I have no business with yet). Now for comparisons I started with a super mini from janty called the mini fogger. It is known as the 306. This is where I discovered the problems with automatic batteries. It is ok as an ecig the problem is with the cartridges. They never worked properly and this is due to the design of the cart. Because of the small size the cart was poorly designed and is essentially useless. The 510 on the other hand is only slightly larger (1 or 2 mm in diameter, and half an inch in legnth) but allows for a cart that has functioned well after the mod in my previous post. The larger mods are mostly based around a 510 or 901 atomizer, and are mostly for long battery life and higher voltage. For someone looking for a casual vape these are not needed.

[...] I am NOT a cigarette smoker but I do enjoy smoking cigars and pipes. (not on a daily basis) [...]

Like I said, I'm not doing this to quit smoking or to supplement smoking.. I just love smoking cigars and pipes for the taste and the act of smoking.
You would be classified currently as a "social' smoker, but even once-in-a-blue-moon smokers can easily turn to the dark side.
fwiw- You ARE getting nicotine and carcinogens from the cigars/pipe through the mucous tissues in your mouth, just not as much as a cigarette smoker. If you smoke more than once every 3 days**, you are already addicted, but you just don't realize it yet.

While I am conflicted as to which direction I would recommend, I'll just say, get an eCigar for those "social" situations, keep it -0- nicotine, and TRY not to develop the desire to vape any more than you currently smoke.
I say that, because like so many others here, you will find wonderful flavors and be tempted to vape more often. :p

Do those larger, cigar sized, models taste better than the smaller 602 type cigs?? If so is it worth it to have something 3 times the size and half as cool looking? (in my opinion)

While I can't help you here, I've quoted this part again in the hopes that cigar/pipe/ vapers will chime in.

I wish you luck in your endeavors,

Welcome, and do you know that you can buy a vaping Pipe...that works just like a E-cig? That way you would have the same feel as a pipe verses a E-cig...and you can add a lot more juice in a vaping pipe...These pipes looks just like a regular smoking pipe...Seen a guy on Y-tube using one...Looked pretty cool, and he liked it...Again, Welcome to this wonderfull forum....

To clarify my point, these are the two passages that worry me the most. They really sound like peer pressure and wanting a cool new toy. If that's the case go buy an iPad, they are cheaper in the long run.

I am all for vaping instead of analogs, but what someone has to remember is that we all know we are guinea pigs here and testing something out. I think it is worth the risk and so do most of you. If you are not a smoker playing with these things, particularly w nic is a dangerous game. Even a 0 nic smoker is running a real fine line, particularly until we know the health risks. It is way to easy to want to get the head rush from the first nic every once in a while (BTW to the noob - that doesn't last).

To me this sounds like someone who would be better off getting another hobby instead of risking an addiction or gateway to one. There is an admitted like for nicotine and it is just too easy. Also add in the unknown health risks and I am really set against it.

All that said, if you are determined to get addicted or flirt with it, I believe that vaping is the better way to go. I have a 510 manual and love it. Just don't be surprised if you find yourself a "smoker" in a year...

with whatever you get go for 0 nic.. from the sounds of it you enjoy a cigar or pipe every now and then and do not smoke them everyday.. and it sounds like you are planning on using the e-cig everyday.. now if it is the occasional nicotine get some lower level 12mg and only put it in every now and then and use the 0 for the all day use you are thinking of..

i would go buy a rc heli instead though.. it is a lot more fun than smoking

WOW, that's alot of feedback! I'm perplexed at many of your
responses.. Do you guys normally try and talk people out of e-cigs? It
just seems odd for an e-cig forum. Nonetheless I am very grateful for
all the honest an bizarrely caring (for the Internet :D) statements. Seriously, Thank you!

Are you guys saying the only reason most of you vape is because you’re so addicted to nicotine that you CANT STOP and you see vaping as a safer alternative? To me..THAT seems immature. I’m not trying to offend anyone with that statement, just trying to understand your point of view. I may have come off as some kid that just wants a new toy (since about 4 of you pretty much said just that, haha) but I think some may have misjudged me…

Let me clear some things up..

I am very aware of the “pull” that nicotine has. I have been smoking cigars and pipes for quite a few years..Every few months or so I will enjoy a cigar. I would love to start vaping instead of smoking tobacco.. since it is better for me..

I am not planning on purchasing smoke juice with nicotine in it… Like I said. I like the flavor of smoking.. …

I am NOT planning on smoking everyway with an e-cig

Thanks guys, this seems like a good group of forum members. Oh and keep the suggestions coming! Later

Most (almost all??) people here are ex analog smokers that have tried every which way to quit and are all to aware of the ease of getting hooked. I think all of us took it up as "social smoking" and got addicted from there. So no - I don't think we are usually talking people out of it, but we are all too aware and hyper sensitive to the risks and wouldn't want anyone to go through what we have. Nobody is trying to talk down or at someone, we just hope nobody would follow the path that we have.

Vaping is a way we can get away from the worst effects of the addiction, although we are aware that it is not risk free. I think most of us would love to take back that first smoke we had...

That all said, 0mg juice is different if you can stick with it. I use a 510 and love it. Cheap and works great. Just my 2 cents.
