Be gentle...haha I have alot of questions!

So I am tired of paying an arm and a leg for e juice, I just cant keep up with the cost with how much I vape since i enjoy it so much. I also honestly believe I can make liquid as good as so called "premium" juice vendors.

Currently I have these items that im going to purchase:

1. Propylene Glycol 1 Quart: Amazon.com: Industrial & Scientific

2. Amazon.com: Glycerin Vegetable Kosher USP - 1 Quart: Health & Personal Care

Are these safe to use/inhale?

This is where I am getting confused. So i need to buy nicotine liquid. I do not know what % i should buy. Liquid Nicotine

On this page there are various strengths listed from 36mg-100mg.

I normally like to vape 6mg VG heavy liquids. I would do 100% vg but my kayfun has problem wicking it so i i usually have to dilute it with a little 50/50 pg / vg juice to make maybe 10 pg / 90 vg just for my kayfun to wick well.

Do I even need to buy a huge amount of PG if I am wanting to make my liquid this way?
What strength of nicotine juice should I buy?
Is it better to buy nicotine that is already has VG or PG in it? or all separate entities?

If I buy a quart of VG or PG, which equates to 946ml each / 1892ml total. How much nicotine juice should I be buying? I do not want to under buy or over buy the amount in relation to the amount of VG/PG i have on hand.

As far as actually mixing the liquids. I have about 20-30 empty bottles from MBV / halo / numerous other vendors all ranging from 15-120ml bottles. Would these suffice?

I also currently have 4x 3ml 18ga syringes and a large 20ml 18ga syringe, are these good enough?

Do I need some crazy stuff like beakers or flasks?

As far as protecting myself, do I need to wear eye protection or face masks? I have a lifetime of rubber gloves on hand.

Lastly is flavorings. Am I supposed to be buying VG based or PG based flavorings? What size is the best to buy for flavorings?

Thank you for the responses, my journey with DIY starts with this post. I am super excited.

Yes. These are fine to use for DIY.

If you prefer having 100% VG juices, then you can use distilled water to thin out juices that are too thick.

What strength of nicotine juice should I buy?

It's personal preference. Since you are vaping 6mg/ml, you can go pretty low. It's mostly up to you and how risky you want mixing to be. Anything at 36 mg/ml or lower is considered low risk.

Is it better to buy nicotine that is already has VG or PG in it? or all separate entities?

Since you prefer 100% VG, I suggest getting 100% VG nicotine.

If I buy a quart of VG or PG, which equates to 946ml each / 1892ml total. How much nicotine juice should I be buying? I do not want to under buy or over buy the amount in relation to the amount of VG/PG i have on hand.

It depends on the strength of nic that you get, but 250ml should be more than enough to get you started.

As far as actually mixing the liquids. I have about 20-30 empty bottles from MBV / halo / numerous other vendors all ranging from 15-120ml bottles. Would these suffice?

That is more than enough to get started.

You will want some 1ml syringes for measuring smaller amounts of flavoring. Also, grab some 14ga needle tips, as VG is tough to suck up with anything smaller. Hint: Warm up the VG to make it easier to handle.

Do I need some crazy stuff like beakers or flasks?

Nope, not at all. Just mix in bottles.

As far as protecting myself, do I need to wear eye protection or face masks? I have a lifetime of rubber gloves on hand.

If you are working with 60 or 100 mg/ml strength nicotine, I would say yes. Otherwise, if spills occur, simply washing with warm water and soap is all you need. Eye protection is always a good idea, no matter what strength nicotine you are working with. Even at low strengths, nicotine will sting if it splashes in your eye.

Lastly is flavorings. Am I supposed to be buying VG based or PG based flavorings? What size is the best to buy for flavorings?

Start with 8-10 ml of each flavoring. If you prefer VG, then seek out VG based flavorings, although PG based flavorings are much more readily available. Since most flavorings are used from 2-10%, you should still be able to achieve 10pg/90vg juices easily. There are flavors that can go as high as 20%, so keep that in mind for your final pg/vg ratios.

Thank you for the responses, my journey with DIY starts with this post. I am super excited.

Good luck. Just don't be afraid to experiment and make mistakes.

I have the same PG and VG that I ordered from Amazon -- and have been vaping it for over a month. I get my unflavored nic juice from My Freedom Smokes and use their 24 or 36 strength to dilute down with the PG and VG from Amazon. I choose not to go over 36 because I happen to be very messy and I don't want to have to worry about getting really strong nic juice all over. For me I ordered 250 ml of the first of October and still have over half a bottle left - and I vape a lot. It really is so much cheaper to DIY. I also order menthol crystals from Amazon which I have been using to flavor my juice -- if you like menthol it's great just drop the crystal in the juice and let it set! I'm simple and menthol is my daily vape although I have tried some tobacco flavors from MFS and some mint flavorings - menthol crystal are still my favorite. MFS sometimes have the crystals but they've been out of stock for awhile.

thanks spaceballs, it was very informative what you wrote. I have one more question. Why is 36mg nicotine liquid cheaper than 100mg? The price difference is almost double. Common sense tells me...just more nicotine is more expensive?
Right. Almost 3x the nicotine for about 2x the cost.(Not to take anything away from Spaceballsrules, because Spaceballs DOES rule!)

Yup. As Hoosier said, you are getting more nicotine for a little less. The nicotine is what costs money to produce. The carrier (pg or vg) is not nearly as expensive as raw nicotine. The higher the concentration you buy, the better the price per mg, but the price is higher overall. Think of it as Buy 2, Get 1 Free.

WOW, YOUR PAYING WAY WAY WAY TO MUCH! STOP THERE!

The cheapest best grade PG & VG can be bought for $3.50 a Pound Here! --> Bulk Vegetable Glycerin | Bulk Apothecary

(The only place I trust) cheap & quality Nicotine can be bought here for LESS ----> Our Unflavored Smoke Juice (Nic. Juice, Nicotine Juice) - My Freedom Smokes

It also sounds to me like you need some more education on the DIY end of this. For every question you can think of, there's a answer. Never assume! Ask, it's free! I feel your pain on the cost to buy e-juice at retail and applaud your courage to start the DIY yet do yourself a favor and READ READ READ. You'll know when it's time!.. Good luck!
