The most upgradable PV on the market is currently the 510. You can use it with small batteries, big ones, or mods. Atty's, LR atty's, HV's, carto's, cart's, drip tip. Pretty much any combo you can think of. But there's not much use in buying a 510 unless you want the small size because bigger batteries are about the same price nowadays. If you're looking to buy a 510 compatible unit with a decent battery life the way to go is an eGo or Riva.

You started right, because a Volcano is a 510 format, so you can easily upgrade if/when you're ready to. Find a juice you like, and you can experiment with different atomizers and cartomizers to find something you like. Giving up cigs is hard, even when you've only smoked them a few years (I was a 30 year smoker), so don't think you have to do this right at the beginning. Take it slow, find what works for you, and transition away from your last cigarette the easy way.

I agree with cskent. As long as the battery connector is a 510 you should be good. The 510 model has a lot(if not the most) options for attys, cartos, a lot of mods use the 510. I also suggest an eGo/Riva as a starter if you can spend the extra ~$20 for it (compared to 510... Almost same thing but battery lasts longer)

Edit*
As for tips to quitting smoking... Order your PV, make sure you have ejuices with nicotine as well as at least one without nicotine (if possible). When you get a craving use ejuice with nic. When you are pretty sure it is more of a (I need a pacifier) use the one without. Oh and of course.... dont ever buy smokes "Just in case".

Just to clarify, the Magma (made by volcano) is a 510 the Volcano is a super mini. And as far as suppliers, there is a whole list of them in this forum, my personal fav is perfectelectroniccigarette.com. Then on the side bar it says smoke shop. The liquid runs you around a dollar or so per milliliter, but T always does an excellent job, tastyvapor is also a great site for liquids and is a bit cheaper.

1. Enough batteries and chargers and a PCC for charging on the go, as well as a spare atty or 2 (I alternate 2 - use one while cleaning one, and the other is emergency spare)

2. Juices you like of the right nicotine. If you are smoking full strength cigs try 24mg, lights or long ultralights try 16-18mg, short ultralights try 10-12mg (and those amounts assume you are not smoking too). Some people need one step higher nicotine in the beginning.

I think the majority of people are able to switch over to vaping pretty quickly (many immediately), and people who have trouble switching are usually very heavy long-time smokers. You just need to find the PV and juice that's right for you and it will be better than smoking.

Re totally quitting - once you are comfortable with only vaping, you can try slipping some lower nicotine juices into your pattern, and eventually switch totally to them. I know I vape a alot more at night than I do at work, and I am planning to go from 18mg to 12mg, so at first I'll just use the 12mg when I am vaping the most (in the evening). When I am comfortable on all 12mg, I'll work some 6mg into my pattern etc. I hope to get to 0 nic and keep vaping but not have the nicotine habit. That's my plan.

Congrats on vaping :) and welcome to ECF! I agree with posters here. The next step up from what you have would be a Riva or eGo type battery. They give you more battery life so you don't have to charge them throughout the day so that is a plus. The batteries are bigger but not bulky. I have both the Riva and the eGo and have enjoyed them both. I'm sure later on down the road you will want to look into mods but who knows. The use of LR atties are great too, gives you a lil more kick...more flavor, more vapor, that sort of thing. Just make sure you have enough nic juice on hand and some extra atties and batteries and you will be good to go :)

i started with the 510 and the next logical stepup is the ego/riva. i ordered a riva within a week of receiving/using the 510, knowing i loved it, and liberty flights had them for $30 (for a pair). the riva has great battery length and is cheap, a pair for $30, that's $15 a piece. another stepup might be to go to straight dripping rather than using cartridges. using driptips it's easy to drip and you get a stronger, cleaner, tastier hit. after that you buy the highend units or make diy units. i've been vaping about a month and i went from a pair of 510s to a pair of rivas to building two box mods and then a tube mod.

Congrats and I hope it works for you, it has for many of us.

My advice, don't give up. You will have days when nothing seems to want to work right. Your taste buds will go off and at times no liquids will taste right. The best way to overcome this is first, keep a good stock of liquids, atties and charged batteries. Keep your threads clean so that batteries fully charge too, that helps.

Good luck and Happy Vaping.

Well you got the first step down...the desire to quit ;) .

I was smoking 1/2 pack a day when I "started" quitting, i'd been smoking for about 12 years .

The trick I used was just trying to do one less every day (and not beating myself up too bad over failing on a given day) every time I got a strong craving I'd drink a 7-11 big gulp's worth of water.

By the time my first e cig arrived I was down to 4 a day, after that I went right to 0. Day 3 of no analogues for me was "the wringer" it was horrible I'm not gonna lie to ya but somehow I made it thru with my pv glued to my face and bucketloads of water.

Been analogue free for 2 1/2 months now. Wish you the same kind of success bud, it's a great feeling of accomplishment.
