Hi everyone--

Just wanted to drop in and say a few things: I haven't been on this site for a few months (was trying to quit cigarettes (analogs) and hubby and I purchased a couple of starter kits). We were doing ok, but never really got the "bang", this is really working! effect. I think now, that I look back, we were still smoking and the two just don't mix well.

Well needless to say, I did eventually quit smoking for 2 weeks, Cold turkey, but was going nuts to to say the least!! Made the mistake of taking a few hits now and then and now I am climbing the walls! I refuse to smoke another ciggie and have pulled out the ole 510 I believe it is. So vaping I am!

My question is: Since I pretty much detoxed for 15 days, except for a few hits today and yesterday, why am I so nutty still???? I mean, I was going nutty and resentful that hubby was still smoking (he smokes like a train), and I was a 10 ciggie a day person. I figured the 15 days should have helped??

Well anyway, I am here for another true go around with u guys and will keep u posted!

Welcome back Littlesara.

Anytime you do something like smoking, repetitiously, putting that burning tube up to your lips and inhaling/exhaling smoke many (100s?) times a day for however many years, beside the nicotine, it also is an addicting habit. It will take longer than a few weeks to fully get it out of your system.
vaping only provides a fraction of the nicotine of a cigarette unless you vape a lot. I estimate for me, that I need to vape 4-5 drags to equal one drag on a cigarette, smoking one pack is about 200 drags per day. To equal that nicotine in vapes, would be 800-1000 vape hits. That's not practical. I vape an average of 400 hits per day. Thats with 25mg/ml juice I mix myself. I am getting less nicotine, but satisfying the other addictions. It is enough for me. Good luck.

Hi Sara, and welcome back! We're all rooting for you. Now:

I just don't understand why so many people torture themselves like this, when it clearly isn't working. "Climbing the walls"? Why does it have to be some kind of instant, all-or-nothing ordeal? I envy your will-power and self control, but it isn't stricktly necessary.

A lot of us quit gradually, and maybe that can work for you as well. Just try to vape more, and smoke less. So what if it takes an entire month before cigarettes taste so foul to you that you cant even take a drag? It took me almost 3 months to quit. I'm not even sure exactly what day it was when I smoked my last cigarette, but I think it was a day or two after Christmas last year. I have zero desire to smoke, and I attribute that in part to the fact that, whenever I thought I REALLY wanted a cigarette, I smoked one! They taste worse and worse over time, until you simply don't want them anymore. Then you're not like an "ex-smoker", jonesing for a cigarette all the time, and one lousy day away from buying another pack. You're almost like a non-smoker. People will smoke around you, and you won't even notice. It's irrelavent to you.

Allowing yourself to do it this way also removes the urgency and some of the stress from the situation. You have time to experiment with different things, to find that combination of things that will work for you. A different brand of juice, with a different flavor, higher nic level, different ratio of PG/VG. A more powerful battery. A different method of vaping, or a different technique.

Just take off the hair shirt, and put down the lash. You didn't do anything wrong, and you don't deserve to be punished, so stop beating yourself up.

That's my take on it, anyway.

Ya know Quasi...ya had to go and use a term like Hairshirt... made me go look it up. :p

Welcome back, it's a year later and the 510 is still one of the top performing standard models and one of the most popular atomizer types. Cartomizers are available now for them. hmm...what else has changed....

New juices I guess, more DIYers, WAY more mods and modders, ego clones of all sorts.
This year seems to be the year of the big battery.
