I'm back!

Welcome back :) I think we should make some sort of checks and balances system on here so everyone has someone else's phone number.. just so we can check in when people disappear to make sure they are okay... at least the regulars. The people who are new may give up vaping (I am still a newbie.. but am never going back!)... but you regulars should all give your phone # to someone to check up on you if you disappear! LOL :)

I'm now rocking a quad-core AMD processor, with 4gb ram and a 600gb HDD, running Vista Home Premium. Mid range system. I had hoped the old one would last a few months longer and then I would have gone for something high-end and optimized for video editing. But c'est la vie.

You have 2 more cores than me thats not fair! Mines just Core Duo and I have 2 gigabytes of RAM:( I do have a terrabyte external drive tho :) and 3 200 gigabyte drives as system drives  and I run Windows XP  but I have FreeBSD on a small fanless server :D but that isn't set up now and needs a bigger laptop disk due to its size and lack of high speed ports 8-o

--EDIT-- I also have a penstyle and thats my redeeming feature!

Good to see you back! Hope you and your parrot are well. When my computer died, I bought a USB external enclosure for the bad hard drive. Plugged it into the usb of the new computer, and copied all the files I needed. It was very easy! The old one was xp and the new was Vista.

You can get an external enclosure, or go this route: I can't post links yet(i spend way too much time lurking instead of posting...), but just go to newegg dot com and search for "BYTECC BT-300 USB 2.0 to IDE/SATA Adapter" -Can't beat if for $25.

It converts any IDE or SATA device to USB 2.0. Being in IT I use this a ton to recover or transfer data from hard drives, or for a quick dvd/cd drive connection.
