As you can see from my sig, I have been at this a long time.
First Ry1 Hangsen, then Ry6 and Cigar
PG or VG (I just use VG)
Nic at whatever level you are at. (I use 0nic)
Mix- one drop of Ry1 per ml of juice. This is important, less is best here. I credit JimiD for this tip.
Steep 3 to 5 days.
When you try this you may never want another tobacco flavor.

Besides Hangsen, in a distant 2nd, VZ Tobakum and Parliament everything else I have tried in the last few years were all squirrel food.

I prefer using lower mg nic base like 48 mg because I am too nervous using 100 mg nic base, and I've been diy'ing a long time. I Los recommend using the ejuicemeup calculator. You can google it to download for free. You can also watch Youtubes on how to use the calculator. It has a feature for using different based flavorings such as the alcohol based flavors I like to use. I get my nic from myfreedomsmokes or wizard lab, and I think High Desert Vapes extracts are good, but that depends I guess on what flavors you prefer to use. Mainly I watched alot of DIY Youtubes til I felt comfortable with it all. Good luck! It's definitely way cheaper and well worth messing around with til you can figure out a great flavor you like. Just don't be surprised if you make some bad tasting flavors, and always try to make small 3 ml amounts until you know you will like the flavor. 
I use ml in measuring instead of drops as all drop sizes vary, plus it's just way easier. I only use drops for slight flavor enhances.
I use the ejuice_calculator by Scubabatdan (In a stickie). Its an interactive spreadsheet, with a LOT of useful stuff in it, like cost analysis, recipes, etc.

Favors are really individual. So far, no one I know has disliked TFA Cinnamon Danish [add some TFA New York Cheesecake to that recently and it is fabulous], TFA cantaloupe, TFA Juicy Peach. I like TFA fruit10% and ethyl malto 5%.
If you go to Wizard Labs you can get flavors to try for $1.49 for 8 ml. Try them and if you don't like a flaovr, don't buy it again.
Go to the recipe pages and see what you think might look good. Personally, I like tobacco flavors with graham cracker, whip cream, ethyl malto and/or fruit in them. and cinnmon danish

I used the nicotine calculator and it said put 2.4ml in a 10ml bottle for 24mg does that sound right? I bought 100mg Unflavored e-Liquid Nicotine.

I have an order on the way from Ecigx. My first time trying DIY. I'm a homebrewer so it seemed like a natural fit for me. However I'm nervous about mixing 100% nic so I ordered 50/50 24% plain nic base, a bunch of different flavors and some 5ml bottles to play with. Baby steps I guess.
Thats the main reason I started to DIY and I found out that I can screw it up even more

The one drop per ml is drops of the Ry1 from the bottle it comes in. I do not know the size of the drop from this container but the results are excellent at this mix. Use a more exact method to measure and mix the nic.
I got that once I was on a bigger screen, I don't have a very large screen on my phone.
How long does my witches brew have to steep before it goes in the garbage? I'm assuming that the first few batches are not going to go as planned.
I did my TFA fruits at 10%fruit 5% ethyl amlto and left them overnight. Most were vapable the next day. Blackberry went into the tras after 3 weeks. Never liked it.
Cinnamon Danish I leave overnight and then vape although I added some NY Cheesecake to a premade batch and let it sit for several days before trying it. Definitely turning into a favorite.
The tobaccos I steep for 10 days before even trying them.
