Wow, guys, thanks so much for your open arm heart warming reception, and greatly appreciated insights and advice. So back to me.... I've been on copious amounts of tea, coffee, red wine, fags (cigs) and Shellac (don't knock it till you've tried it) for decades.....never had this "issue". Nvee premium nic salt btw.... Oh and please forgive me for any misunderstandings, be assured that I'd never presume to "warn" those who are clearly better qualified than I. xx
The issue is that there are occasionally trolls who come along here and try to start anti-vaping rumors. Sometimes it even works for a little while.
Your claim doesn’t agree with the experience of 99% of vapors, and we’ve all been burned before by misleading or outright false rumors.
The takeaway in your situation I think is:

1. Despite your hygiene regimen you’re apparently not getting your back teeth as well as you think you do.

2. If it does have to do with vaping it’s likely something unusual. I can think of a few possibilities:

A. Some juices have dyes in them. It’s considered a bad practice but it’s still occasionally done. It could be that what you’re seeing is food coloring adhering to other stuff on your teeth which means it’s not a stain per se.

B. There’s something unusual about your particular rig. To diagnose this one I’d need a bunch of information:
What atomizer?
What drip tip?
What juice exactly? If diy what contents?
What wattage do you vape at?

Well live and learn, I may need to pick up a six pack for watching UK basketball on Saturday.
:toast:
UK basketball? Is that like American football? Different rules etc?
Misinformation is everywhere. Sifting it is a lot of work. The vegan contingent seems particularly prone as their agenda is functionally religious in origin and prone to frantic justification because of it.

Here's an educational moment about shellac - The Vegetarian Resource Group Blog

Now I know every M&M I've ever eaten was coated in bug secretions!

That was interesting. Amazing what you learn on ECF.

I think you lucked out on the M&M front though.

" As a general rule, any hard-coated, shiny candy contains a shellac coating or glaze (M&Ms™ is one notable exception.)"

safe distance from a black hole
Smoked for years with no staining (I'm .... about cleaning my teeth..spend ages, twice daily)
Month back took a closer look and to my horror the backs were dark brown!
Straight to the hygienist to be told..."your a smoker"....but I haven't smoked for a year. She spent a hour cleaning, all good. One month later and it's back! Its a varnish like deposit that scrapes off (needle or some other metal implement) ....Also noticed similar deposits on the vape mouth-piece. Any thoughts folks?
You are ".... about cleaning your teeth". Maybe you need to try a different approach

It's pretty much the same. Just a bit more cultured and refined.

Misinformation is everywhere. Sifting it is a lot of work. The vegan contingent seems particularly prone as their agenda is functionally religious in origin and prone to frantic justification because of it.

My brother is a vegan. He seems pretty non-crazy to me.

My mother stopped eating meat in her early teens, for no reason she was ever able to articulate. That was back in the 40's when it was kind of unusual. Her school actually referred her to a psychiatrist to find out what was wrong with her, but somehow she stuck to her guns and never ate meat again. That kind of judgmental attitude is still around, just more on the fringes these days.

I should have been more specific, University of Kentucky.
I was kidding when I said I was going drink some shellac.

That may or may not help. Might also depend on where the brush is stored while not in use.

Ah. Kentucky isn’t even a little like Britain. Personally I consider some American beers indistinguishable from shellac aside from the lower alcohol content (natural shellac uses alcohol as a carrier)

Smoking used to stain my teeth something fierce.

I have dentures now and smoking NOR vaping stain my teeth, mainly because they sit in a vat of like, bleach all night.

I am just saying... It's an option....

When I had 24 teeth removed, I asked if I could "have them" only they told me they would be so smashed up into a jillion pieces, I would not want them.

It was not reassuring, especially as I gazed at the dental try of like, implements that looked like they were for killing cows, castrating horses and etc.

After I woke up, I didn't really want the teeth anyway, to be honest. As the anesthetic wore off, I just wanted to die, frankly. As my doctor said when he saw my pumpkin face the next day ,"Most certainly, I could give you something STRONGER for that... But nothing is going to fix that, frankly. . Go forth and Advil."

    LOL

    It's an option though!

The way they meticulously lay them out, with me in the chair, it always reminds me of those scenes in movies where some bad guy is about to use "enhanced interrogation" on some poor guy that he wants information from.

They definitely should NOT take the cover off before they sedate you.

I will say, since I did all my implants awake, I understand now why my oral surgeon had forearms like Thor.

Bone is really..... It's really not all soft like Swiss cheese.

My stupid new doctor wants to reduce my thyroid dose if I am "suppressed." It's this thing that happens with natural thyroid hormone and it is TOTES FINE. I may need to find an out of network thyroid expert who will verify this. She said she was worried about "Osteoporosis and like, atrial fibrillation."

I was like, "Lady I have been suppressed for about 15 years and I can safely verify per my oral surgeon's assessment I have GREAT BONES."

I may just return to Tucson where my PCPs aren't ....... I mean.... They are far, but they understand natural thyroid.

Atrial fibrillation my bung hole. She was just trying to scare me and I know more about natural thyroid than her.

While this is often the case with a condition I have, it just never instills freaking confidence in me. When I am TELLING you for 20 minutes it is FINE, it might behoove you to go look it up.

    But yes, those implements SUCK.

I know someone whose teeth started to yellow after making the switch to vaping. Previously had shiny white teeth, regular dental visits. So yes, it can happen, after all, we're all not the same. It's pretty rare though from what I've seen/heard/read. She quit vaping (and didn't start smoking again).

Weird. The complete opposite of my experience. My dentist doesn't bother with the clean anymore and praises the cleanliness of my teeth since i stopped smoking.
(yet another saving to add to the growing list)
Now we all need to know what in tarnation you be vaping...

Interesting that you say that. I have a pet theory that the relatively neutral pH of juices might tend to suppress the acidic environment destructive oral bacteria crave (so does peanut butter btw). But who am I to claim a medical benefit. I'm no FDA scientist.

    Good luck. :)

Could be. Considering some people use nic salts, others use nic freebase, and different flavors will also have varying pH, this could be why some have issues, some no change, and others good benefits. Of course I am no dentist either. I'm just the guy they waterboard with that damn sonic cleaner thingy.
