Baking soda is your friend... For baking. Also, for keeping a fridge smelling "its sweetest."

For teeth? Okay fine, if you don't have porous teeth. If you have porous teeth you can totally forget all the mumbo jumbo about "what will clean your teeth."

My former dentist used to clean my teeth and tell me to return in like, 2 weeks. Etc.

I am feeling really quite good about my dentures at the moment.

It's pretty much the same. Just a bit more cultured and refined.

My brother is a vegan. He seems pretty non-crazy to me.

My mother stopped eating meat in her early teens, for no reason she was ever able to articulate. That was back in the 40's when it was kind of unusual. Her school actually referred her to a psychiatrist to find out what was wrong with her, but somehow she stuck to her guns and never ate meat again. That kind of judgmental attitude is still around, just more on the fringes these days.

Oh dear. I’m afraid ive now got another lengthy soliloquy incomming. You may want to look away.

I do not consider religion insane. I am religious myself. Religion tends to have a weak point though, and that is the desire to produce proof of faith. For The big 3 “people of the book” religions, proof of faith is by definition impossible. The closest thing there is is that meteorite in Mecca, and that’s not proof of god, that’s just proof that one event in the Koran happened. Different thing entirely. Various sects from pretty much every faith have attempted to produce various miracles on command. They always turn out to be crap. No exceptions. Does this mean that the central tenants of the theosophy are untrue? No. It merely proves that whoever is claiming the ability to perform miracles is probably full of it.

This is actually the main reason I consider veganism a theosophy and not a philosophy. Many (but not all) of them stretch fact and logic to the breaking point and past it attempting to support their case.

There are numerous examples of this. My personal favorite vegan one is “man is the only creature that drinks the milk of another animal”. You hear this one all the time.
This is both factually and logically incorrect.

Factual: There are many insect species that farm aphids.
Logic: this is a classic does-not-follow fallacy. The implication is that milk is therefore by definition a human perversion and as such unhealthy.
That is an implied assumption with no actual basis.

Vegans aren’t stupid or crazy. They just WANT others to believe very badly and when you want something a lot, arguments that are actually weak seem strong. They have FAITH that their theosophy is correct. Proof would make things so much easier. Sadly there isn’t any.

A Muslim might for example claim that since the rock exists the entirety of the Koran is without possible flaw. This is the same does-not-follow fallacy. There are OTHER things as well that when taken together reliably show that the Koran is very likely the most unaltered sacred book currently available by probably a fairly wide margin. Again, though it’s not quite the same thing.

Does it mean they are wrong? Imho, no. It just means they need to watch themselves extra hard so as not to fall into the stupid.

Drinking in a Belgian bar

Ken - Are you from the States?
Jimmy - Yeah, but don't hold it against me.
Ken - I'll try not to. Just try not to say anything too loud, or crass...

I would have posted a link to the clip, but it has too many swears.

My daughter has been vegan since she was about 12, and learned to cook for herself. She’s very respectful of me though, although I still eat meat. Some people are not. They are way over the line with crazy fake ‘science’ and false assumptions about meat eaters in general. I’ve had people threaten to steal my dogs because obviously I hate and torture all animals. To me, that is over the line, a million miles from rational thinking.

Went veggie once for a spell to quell the better half's health food mania. When dared I finally broke my fast at a local Fuddruckers bike rally on S. Dixie and I thought I was gonna die.

Moral of the story, carnivores eating grasses is grossly unnatural so be careful…veganism kills.

Good luck. :)

Here's an educational moment about shellac - The Vegetarian Resource Group Blog

Now I know every M&M I've ever eaten was coated in bug secretions!

okayyy, now Im worried about the writers qualifications.... it stated "lac" came from bugs as honey comes from bees... I always thought honey was in the bee hive combs and not squished out of a bee. o_O

Well, DD has been at it for 17 years and hasn’t died yet, but there is much to learn about how to get the nutrients one needs while avoiding major areas of diet.

I always laugh when people say other animals don’t drink milk except that of their mothers, and only as babies. It’s not about milk, it’s about a source of protein, calcium, and all that. What difference is there if you get your protein from milk, meat, or rice and beans? Nutritionally, there isn’t.

The reason veganism is equated to religion isn’t that everyone thinks both are crazy. It’s because people in both those camps - not all, but enough- think they have the right, and possibly the responsibility, to force their beliefs on the rest of us.

You do you. Believe what you want. Obey rules you think you need to obey. I’m fine with that. But keep your rules and beliefs out of MY life, thank you very much.

I mean, I am not religious although I was brought up catholic. Our crazy rules included not eating meat on Friday so we had fish sticks. So, fish are less alive than cows? Crazy. But I did it, and without threatening and shaming those who didn’t.

It all goes back to what I said the other day, about people wanting someone to look down on and judge. I may not agree with how someone else lives their life, but as long as they’re not hurting anyone, I keep my pie hole shut. And I demand reciprocity.

You should have broken your pact at Char Hut in Davie..... I envy you living in Hollywood due to Taste Rite being there. The best Jamaican patties in America, maybe even in Jamaica!

Shall avoid, @DancingHeretik LOL.

There are actually good reasons to only breastfeed, FOR the first oh, 6--9 months, but it has to do with how the stomach actually develops, and the need to not introduce other stuff. I just went to a big training on it, and it was very interesting. Babies stomach's are designed for the protein in breastmilk, and adding other stuff like formula actually does bad things, etc.

After that point the stomach changes and is designed to eat, oh, whatever. Hamburger patty, you name it. In fact the healthiest way to go (these days) is considered to be self weaning where at 6 months you let the kiddo start gumming YOUR food, not baby food even. It won't eat much until teeth are in, although it WILL have fun, and then you don't have to buy all that stupid puree stuff, just keep breastfeeding until the kiddo is getting more nutrients from food.

This method actually AVOIDS allergies and is healthier, overall. Because of the minute quantities of the food at first. You can actually REVERESE a peanut allergy doing that very minute quantities at a young age, I did not believe it, personally but I have seen parents do it. I would not care to try it myself, but I have seen/heard it done.

This all presumes you don't eat fast food 3 times a day, also.

IDK I don't care about vegetarians/vegans I figure more MEAT FOR ME.

Humans are very clearly omnivores, and so ketogenic diet @kross8 I am talking to YOU, shut U)P about it and do your thing. That, I don't mind. When you try to shove it on every forum member as "cure" to their aliments I also get dismayed. Same to the gluten folks and @m o m, I am talking to you.

LOL

There is a actually a forum member called mom of course.

Some people just get that way. Like the way some ex-smokers are the meanest anti-smokers of all. My step son's best friend became a born again-ist at age 18. Broke off contact with my lad, and got so obnoxious about lecturing his catholic mother that she kicked him out of the house. If you're a jerk out of the box you'll be a jerk about anything you get into, including eating vegetables.

I have known some "in your face vegans" that wanted the government to ban meat. I think I convinced them to back off by pointing out that I and many like me are pretty strict carnivores and if they took away our beef, chicken, and pork, that wouldn't make us vegans. It would only make us look for an alternative source of meat, and perhaps vegans might be tasty.

Grain Fed Vegans... LOLOLOL:lol::lol::lol::lol: Man, a lot of them "organic.":banana:

My son likes weird food. He was like crazy early on the Soylent train.

He says "real" meat is now being "grown" in "parts" in the "lab" and he says he might eat it for the lack of "cruelty" to animals.

And I say, "Do we really know where the soul resides?"

I also deeply wonder if PETA will "free" the "lab meat" and if so, what will they do with it? Euthanize it like most of their finds??????????

Now that Scientology is dead, vegans and like, PETA are all I have left.

If PETA doesn't meet the definition of a cult I am not sure what does.

Heard that @Skeebo. I'll check it out with my friend George here, knows the lay of the land. He's a native and'll school me if it's authentic.

Humans are very clearly omnivores…

I take exception to that kinda grammar Anna. I likes my meat.

Good luck. :)

Smoked for years with no staining (I'm .... about cleaning my teeth..spend ages, twice daily)
Month back took a closer look and to my horror the backs were dark brown!
Straight to the hygienist to be told..."your a smoker"....but I haven't smoked for a year. She spent a hour cleaning, all good. One month later and it's back! Its a varnish like deposit that scrapes off (needle or some other metal implement) ....Also noticed similar deposits on the vape mouth-piece. Any thoughts folks?

Get a Dremel tool with some wire wheel tips. It will take that stuff right off. Turn it on high.
