Dagger mod is powering on, reading ohms properly, reading volts properly, but not sending and heat to coils. Tried it on 4 attys. The battery I pulled out of it was down to 1.67. Am not sure how she did this .

1.67V?

That battery is toast..

18650 should NEVER be discharged below 3V. This kills the internal chemistry of the battery and it will never charge correct again.

What brand? if that's a rewrap third party battery, stay away from those and get a good trust-able brand.

I got the battery part. It fried. I wanna know ... is going on with the mod
If you know the battery was good before, then something bad is happening with the mod. You could check the batteries and slots they go in on mod, make sure there is 0 damage or sign of arcing, use a magnifying glass. Could be farther internal, a bad board or loose wire....

On the other hand if you do not 100% trust that battery and have ample battery knowledge, get rid of the battery and get a reliable set of sony, lg, or samsungs from a trusted seller.

A mod that reads a battery as too low when firing, will not fire. It can show full, and the moment that you apply the pressure, the voltage reading drops to "dead".

So I'd start with the battery...

Brand, age, how you've been charging it, etc.

Batteries can die very fast.. I have some older ones that simply stopped holding their charge properly.. they would show as full (in the 3.8-4V range) and a few puffs and they'd be dead.

If it's the mod that's not reading the battery correctly (and not firing), then you'd have to get it tested properly by an expert or such.

But if it's the battery that's having issues as I'm stating above.. then the mod is actually working correctly.

between here and there
Have you tried another 18650 battery in the mod? Until you try a new fresh battery you won't know if the old battery is the ONLY problem. If the battery that is fried is the only one you have then I would stop trying to get it to fire.
Sounds to me like the mod is doing what it is suppose to.

No signs of burning or any of that. The only thing I saw out or ordinary was corrosion inside around the USB slot.
Good bet if there is corrosion around and in the usb it's inside too. That's not a P.O.S., that's user error. Get a water proof mod!:w00t:

I wonder if the corrosion mentioned is just dust dirt and debris; I know my usb ports look a little "corroded" but they never get used or cleaned really, I only use an external charger...
I choose to not make a joke about usb ports being cleaned here, only because I just got home from work and am too tired to think. Feel free.

No jokes comes to mind.. just a forecast of a short caused by the crap in the port and a dead mod.

Its an LG hg2. And yes I tried 2 other lgs and 2 ohm lifes. Also tried 4 other attys. All yielding the same result.

All the batteries ended up at the 1.67V?

If that mod is still under warranty, I'd run to the store to get it exchanged. I'd bring the batteries too so that they could test those too.

I'm wondering if something in the mod is shorting out the batteries? A battery could "soft vent" without any obvious visual signs other than having a voltage of around 1.67 volts. That could explain the low voltage of the batteries, and possibly explain what appears to be "corrosion" around the USB port (expelled chemicals from the batteries venting?).

Could be a faulty internal charger (if the user was charging batteries by USB) in the mod. The batteries used could have had faulty wraps or insulating rings.

This is not supposed to happen in a regulated mod. Regulated mods have a low voltage cutoff as part of their protection circuitry so that a battery can not be drained past 3.2 volts. This is why I believe there was a soft venting of the battery. The problem is to find out why.

I'm not exactly clear what's happening either, do the batteries work in other mods (if you have one)? Could it be the mod is reading the battery wrong somehow, if it's happening to multiple batteries that you know for sure are good? Did you get them all together?

I'm probably going to concur that something may be wrong with your mod, and it may or may not be actually AFFECTING your batteries, or reading them incorrectly (or draining them all) and perhaps a good vape shop if you have one near you may be able to help. IDK. It's worth a shot. If the mod is under warranty you could certainly try that. IDK about the "gunk" accumulating in the battery area, but it's probably not a good sign. Take everything in and if necessary, warranty the mod.

Welcome to ECF and best of luck,

Anna
