I'm just not good at math and the more I try to figure this out, the more confused I'm getting.

If I'm looking for 6MG liquid and the vendor doesn't sell 6MG but they sell 12MG/30ML. Can I buy the 12MG/30ML liquid in the flavor of my choice, then also purchase the same flavor from them in their non nic version (same size)...get a empty bottle and pour half of the 12MG flavor into the bottle, and half of the non nic flavor into the bottle, shake and essentially now have a bottle of 6MG?

If this is not how it works that I'm just not getting it at all.

If someone could chime in here I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

Remember it's not linear. Adding 100% drops it in half, but adding 200% does not drop it to a quarter. You would have to add 100% of the NEW amount, which works out to 300% of the original amount. Example:

Assume 10ml to start with. Add 10ml (100%) to drop from 12nic to 6nic. You now have 20ml
Add 20ml (100% of the new amount) to cut it to 3nic. You now have 40ml, 30ml added (300% of the original 10ml)
Add 40ml to cut it to 1.5nic. You now have 80ml, 70ml added (700% of the original 10ml)

So to cut the nic in half you have to end up with 2x the amount. To cut it to 1/4, you end up with 4x the amount. To cut it to 1/8, you end up with 8x the amount.

The more you reduce the nic, the amount you need to add increases exponentially.

OK so jjt replied to my private and his explanation was...

Take the 1 ounce 12MG nic flavored juice and the 1 ounce 0MG flavored juice (both are same flavors), mix them together and you have 6MG, down from the original 12MG. So in other words, it's not 50/50 of each bottle, it's both bottles full combined!

Is this correct?

What matters is to use equal amounts of each, roughly 50/50 of the 0 mg and the 12 mg. Eyeball is plenty good enough for this, you can use a 3 ml, 6 ml, 10 ml, whatever size bottle you have handy for your new bottle, the one containing the mix.

Take the 0 and 12 mg/ml bottles.
Shake them for a couple seconds to mix them (sometimes you'll get a bit of settling, separation).
Take an empty, clean, bottle, doesn't matter the size, fill it about half way with the 0 mg, then all the way to the top with the 12 mg.
Shake the new bottle, vape :)

You can adjust it based on how you order the non-nic, but that is one more set of variables.

Say the nic containing liquid is 70PG/30VG, and you will mix equal parts of it and the 0nic, to cut the nic level in half.

To get 70/30 in the new liquid, just get the 0 nic at the same 70/30 blend.

To raise the PG in the final liquid, you go to higher PG in the 0 nic. A 90PG/10VG 0nic, mixed with a 70/30 in equal amounts, will result in an 80PG/20VG final eliquid.

Similarly, to decrease the PG portion, a 50PG/50VG mixed in equal amounts with 70PG/30VG will result in 60PG/40VG.

Sorry to confuse you. The short, simple answer I should have stuck with is that equal parts of both will cut the nic in half. I was trying to demonstrate how the math works so that you understood WHY it works. You might want to do something different in the future and it's a good idea to understand how it works.

I understood what you were doing. But you're talking to a math nerd.
