Hey everyone ! First i'd like to say thanks to the creators of this website, I'm sure I will be visiting quite frequently as i begin my "vaping" journey. Now some background on myself. I am 20 years old, and have been smoking for about 6 years ( yes I know early starter.) I am currently working on joining the army as an MP ( Military Police , would choose infantry/ sniper if i was male :D . ) I have tried an E-Cig in the mall before because I thought they looked cool, but i wasn't about to spend $120 bucks on what they were trying to sell me. I am interested in switching from regular cigarettes to e cigs because I no longer want to smell like smoke, and want to make a healthier choice especially with how much I work out, smoking really slows me down. I currently smoke Camel Bolds, around half a pack a day. I have gone weeks / months without smoking, and I am not physically addicted to nicotine, however I really enjoy the act of smoking. I was looking for some advice as to which type of E-Cig I should go with for my first one. I would like to get Menthol flavour since thats what I am used to, and was going to go for 0mg nicotine, since I know I can go without. So far I have been interested in the 510 although it is a bit bigger than i think i would like, and the Pro Smoke. I am looking for something that is most like a real cigarette in terms of feel, produces quite a large amount of vapor, and has good battery life. I would prefer getting something with a pcc since I work in an office 8 hours a day 5 days a week, it would allow me to smoke at work and keep it charged all day. Any help is greatly appreciated :D. PS Sorry its so long =/.

I'll tell you my advice. Most newbs do well with something that looks like a cigarette - a Riva is the solution for that but is a bit fatter and rounder than an ecig. You can find one at liberty flights USA. If you are less concerned about the way that your PV looks I'd go for a higher end mod and save a few bucks from doing the weekly upgrade that many of us experienced early on. Semi disposable PVs are less expensive due to shorter battery life and are a bit less versatile.

If I were you would def order some nicotine in different strengths to ward off a craving and also by 0mg. It'll be worth nothing to you if it doesn't cure your cravings for an analog. I'd also try a variety of ejuices (even ones that you don't think you'd like) as your tastes will bounce all over the place as you adjust to quitting.

I admire your desire to get involved in protecting our nation and wish you the best w/ quitting the analogs and your career. Welcome to the ECF!

Hello, and welcome to ECF. If you're looking for a mini/real cig look alike then I would have to suggest the volt, as that seems to be a solid PV for the look. That being said I can tell you from personal experience that the best thing about a mini is the look of it...unfortunately for me that was it, some people stop there, but most find they want more battery power, or cartridges that last longer than a few cigs.

I started with a micro, moved on to a mini, changed brands of minis, then settled on an Ego (close to the size of a cigar). Most would suggest an Ego for a better starting place than a mini, sure it doesn't look like a real cigarette but I found that once I got away from that look that it was easier to forget about analogues anyway. Also, and most people can easily agree with this, you'll never find a flavor that tastes like a cigarette because nothing's burning. There are brands/flavors that claim it all day, but I have yet to try a flavor that just reminded me of a cig, and once you quite for a while you wont want that taste anyway lol. One of my favorite quotes, recent quote too, "When it looked like a cigarette I kind of expected it to taste like one" (my dad), once I got him an Ego he actually quit.

Anyway, segued a bit there, check out the Volt. I'm sure someone here will be able to tell you the threading on it, you'll want either 510 or KR808 threading on whatever you get so you're not stuck with the manufacturers flavors/carts/cartos. Good luck on your journey, and welcome to the forums.

Hi Bobo & welcome to ECF & vaping
Basic vaping is done at 3.7 volts, this is with a low resistance atomizer/cartomizer will produce a very satisfing vape.
What will determine the length of vaping time is the battery. So a small cigarette type battery will provide 3.7 volt vaping, due to it's size it wont last very long before it would need to be recharged.
If you were to use duel coil carto's then the battery will run out of power just that much faster.
The cigarette type systems usually have a battery rated around 250mah to 350mah, the bigger systems can have battery's rated at 3000mah. Each 100 mah = 1 hour of vaping as a rule of thumb.
Something you could consider is a passthru type if you have a place to leave it plugged in all day & still have the battery for use while traveling.
Read up on the forum lots of info here to help you out.
Good luck and keep asking questions

Agree that nothing that I have tasted thus far is like that of a "real" cigarette. I have found a fairly nice "camel" type flavor though. You can check out Awesome Vapor. I have mixed their "camel" and "menthol" together and it tastes pretty nice like that. I'm sure other vendors make a good Camel like flavor too, but again nothing's burning, so none of them will be exact. I forgot to order my menthol from them this time, busy grabbing my free samples of other things I wanted to try...so I grabbed some menthol from ecblends. I'm hopping around with vendors currently trying to find the flavors I will really like. Good luck.

Hello and welcome to ECF. Everyone is going to suggest different things, the key is that you need to find what is right for you. Most standard 510's are quite small, in fact...about the width of a normal cigarette, and slightly longer (depending on the setup of course). You might find that the 510 will work just fine for you. If you are planning to vape at a computer desk, I would also suggest a USB pass-through (your computer is creating the power, rathar then wearing down a battery). Look into a 510 starter kit (typically 2 of each piece which you'll need), get a few spare attys or cartos (depending on what you prefer) and buy some juices online. I don't know much about menthol juice, but I buy mainly from Backwoods, Highbrow, and Vermillion River...I'm sure you can find them all in the vendors section of the forum. If you have any friends who vape, try out their setup and see if it works for you. Keep reading and trying new things. Let us know how it works out! Cheers.

Thank you all for the responses ! I'm going to look into the 510 some more and to my understanding a few companies make 510's? Where should I get mine and what brand ? Also, since I'm just looking into switching Im not very familiar with the terminology some of you are using , what is the difference between carto / atty? Not sure I got that right , I'm mobile so I can't refer to what was previously mentioned haha.

Most popular brand seems to be boge for cartos. there are threads that have some of the best prices around

It's a great starter kit! Good luck. Dekang makes a TAB (turkish american blend) Menthol flavor. (Don't confuse it with the actual camel and desert ship flavors which didn't satisfy me.) I enjoyed it for awhile even though I wasn't a menthol smoker. I'm off the chinese juice now just as a preference to support my USA juice makers but it was a good juice. A lot of ex-menthol smokers actually like cinnamon too.
