I'm new here, but I just want to say I'm sick from vaping on a Tugboat clone

I wanted to bring to light that some of the things we're vaping on may not be as safe as we'd hope. Today I'm very, very sick from vaping on a Tugboat clone. I will be telling the seller that their product makes people sick, but before I do, I want to warn people about what they're buying.

FYI I know it's the atty because I let myself get better by not vaping on it and then I tried it again today and I'm deathly ill again.

Edit: Took out the conjecture here. I'm just sick from vaping on this atty and I don't know why. Could be the finish, could be the machine oil, or it could be something else entirely. Trying to figure it out.

Yeah, clones are always controversial to me because you really are getting what you pay for unfortunately, but sometimes this option is better for newer users who aren't ready to pay the big bucks for authentics. You could very well be onto something with the paint, if not that, my best guess is they could have left machine oil on the atty that got incorporated with your liquid somehow. That happened to me like 2 years ago with an igo-w I got from fast-tech. Made me so sick, finally figured out it was the machine oil, so authentic or not, I make sure I do a thorough cleaning before I start to vape.

Another problem with CLONE attys, is once you do go to clean them, if you try using even the slightest bit of alcohol, many times they RUST! Which is even scarier in terms of what im inhaling D:

I have to say though, the "metals" you could be ingesting to make you sick, are in no way in high enough doses to be toxic to the human body (but then again it IS a clone, so there is no way to know for sure it was made with high quality metals that don't break down quickly.) But I pray either way you are ok after this. I'd take the clone back to the store you bought it from and notify them of your experience. Unfortunately, not all store owners will justify a refund or replacement for clone atomizers, but I would fight it.

No reason to buy a product that makes you physically sick. #saynotoclones. I got my Taurus from Vape Tribe (made my Da Touch Customs)... it was only $35 from the source and it's been the best atty i've ever had.

#saynotoclones.

Agreed with the proper cleaning needed before use (of any atty).

There are so many variables involved (juice, wick, wire, atty, etc) to make a definitive statement as to cause. That's why your statement is suspect. It could also, conceivably, be something environmental, or otherwise, and not having anything to do with vaping but just coincidentally coincide.

I'm not saying the atty isn't the cause, just that without more information that can't be stated objectively.

Hope you are feeling better and can nail down what is making you I'll.

For one, certain metals bleed out and get onto the wick. If you want to vape that, it's on you, but I would suggest you switch to all stainless steel.

Second, paint on an RDA is bad. If it's painted, I wouldn't recommend you buy it unless you like inhaling paint fumes, especially on clones that were created for less and sold for less than the originals.

Just something to keep in mind.

FYI I know it's the atty because I let myself get better by not vaping on it and then I tried it again today and I'm deathly ill again.

When you say "Deathly Ill" what were your symptoms?
Did you quit smoking at the same time?
As others have said, what was your nic level and PG/VG mix?
Did te vape taste good or was it harsh, oily, etc?
And was this head actually painted? (Never seen one that was, wouldn't buy one that was)

I find it very hard to believe that you are inhaling enough metals to make you ill.

I await your answers to the above (although I half-suspect it's a drive-by)

Without something that even hints at bearing a resemblance to anything that could be construed as a fact based observation, what you seem to be attempting to pass as a PSA really comes off as being a blatant troll.

To me at any rate.

If trolling is not the case, what would actually be of service to this community would be a calm, un-editorialzed accounting of what you have experienced.

All equipment used, voltage wattage settings as applicable.
All liquids involved, specifically PG/VG ratios, flavorings, nicotine content.
Have you been seen by a medical professional?

Details presented in a calm and open minded manner for discussion will go far.

Take a breath and try again please.

Don't be condescending. I'm suffering from a great deal of confusion and dizziness and it's hard to type right now and get my thoughts out, so I see what you're saying.

Mod: Grand Vapor m16 telescopic mod clone (served me well)
Battery: Kidney Puncher 2000 MaH 10a continuous 18650s
Liquids: 100% VG Cap'n Comet (used when I tested with my tobh to make sure it wasn't the juice)

No, I haven't seen a doctor, however, it doesn't take a genius to realize what was going on. I used a Tobh clone and wasn't getting sick and then as soon as I vape the same juice on the same type of kanthal in the Tugboat, I got extremely sick.

I feel like people are defending this stuff very blindly in this thread and insulting me in the process. I'm sick and I just can't think clearly, which sets a great precedent for this forum and its users who aren't receptive at all to possible health risks.

Thanks Roni. Very kind response. I just threw the atty in the trash and ordered a different one from an American manufacturer that uses stainless steel. I have cleaned it multiple times to no avail. I cleaned it three times with rubbing alcohol, soap, and a scrubbing pad (three different times I did this procedure) before I vaped on it again when I got sick the first time. No luck. Still got sick after only 4-5 pulls. Lesson learned, you know?

I didn't see any rust, but I did some discoloration inside the atty near the top that could have been something that was slowly falling away from the interior. Hard to say, but I'd rather not get sick again so I just threw it out.

I did tell the seller and I expect to hear back from them some time today.

First, stop vaping on it immediately if that is what is currently causing this:
I'm suffering from a great deal of confusion and dizziness and it's hard to type right now and get my thoughts out, so I see what you're saying.

Then, did you clean it before using it as was suggested above. We still don't know your liquids nicotine level and what the resistance of your coil(s) are.

I did clean it. See my reply to Roni.
