Depends. I have mostly clones. They can be decent.
they can also suck.
Ive got some that feel like 10 bucks down the drain... I think I just toss them aside. When I find them again, Theyll go in the trash most likely.
I actually have one of the earlier version Mutations.... maybe the version 1 or 2? it is also tossed aside, but not because I didnt like it, I actually remember liking it.
The only thing is I am more of a flavor chaser, which means my airflow should be smaller. I actually remember liking the Mutation if I closed the Air flow almost all the way off. But Now I prefer My Turbo clone and my vulcan clones, and My mephisto clone. those are all ones (Apart from the turbo) that are meant for flavor. Tiny airflows. The Turbo I have almost completely closed airflow, so I dont walk around sounding like a kazoo

no need to buy pre-coiled coils, just buy some wire and perhaps a coil jig. The making of the coil is the easiest part of DIY....the hardest part is getting the coil on the deck with these tiny screws and getting the wicking right.

Pre-coiled coils mostly come with short leads which makes getting them on the deck even more of a PITA. Just wind your own...it's very easy certainly with a coil jig, and that way you can make the leads a bit longer if you want to.
Initially I also bought pre made coils, but the are now sitting collecting dust (but they are cheap, so no matter) as self made coils are easier for me.....

I do recommend getting an ohm meter...they are cheap and make the process safer and much easier. I just put my deck on there, put the coil on the deck and you can check resistance immediatly. If it is not right you can just continue to work on it. Else you have to continuesly put it on the mod, check resistance, get it off the mod, rework it, put it back on the mod etc.....

Thanks for the info, also about this wicking... Is it true I can use more or less any type of cotton like even from cotton balls? Or would you reccomend me getting like the organic Japanese kind?

Highly recommend organic cotton, whether from cotton balls or the japanese cotton pads; the taste is much better, and yes there really is a big difference.

If you're going to use a high-PG juice that's thin, then either type of organic cotton will work just fine. If you're going to use 50/50 or more VG, then the organic cotton pads are a much better choice; the aligned fibers do a much better job of actually wicking.
