Nice job! I remember when I was an apprentice I had a journeyman that was afraid to dig in to a broken piece of equipment. I told him to dig in and fix it. He said but what if I mess it up. I said what are you going to do break it ... it's already broke. That gave him a rush of confidence and he went on to be a very good mechanic. Doing a rebuild of anything is quite a rush when you get done and it works.

 I woke up this morning to a round of applause on my forum! Thanks, guys....you make me feel good! I am pretty proud of myself.

Here's a really funny thing: Karen, somewhere awhile back I thought I remembered reading that YOU had rebuilt a coupe of REOs (turns out you had said your DAUGHTER...) so I told myself, "If Karen's brave enough to rebuild a REO, surely I am too." My total misunderstanding is the only reason I had enough nerve to do it!!! How's that for ironic. Ha.

A few weeks back I bought a Mini 2.1 off Classys for my nephew, and it came with a bunch of stuff including a rebuild kit. I didn't think much of it at the time (except to note to myself that I had really gotten a bargain,) and I just put it aside with my extra springs that I keep on hand. Anyway, my little original Mini dropped two springs within a period of about 5 minutes, and I was just sick. Then I remembered I had that rebuild kit, and thought maybe.......

I watched that video over and over and over and finally thought I'd take a stab at it. It worked!!! Now I need to order another rebuild kit, and some more springs and I'll be ready for anything!!!

Well done buddy! Haven't seen you in way too long. You need to come over for dinner again and visit with me and Julie.

I know, Rob. I've been missing my homies! I'm retiring, so by this fall I'll have TIME on my hands! So excited about that!!! Then you'll probably get sick of seeing so much of me. Ha. Rob, the Mini I rebuilt is that little gold/black that you borrowed for a week or so....that you fell in love with, remember? She's good a new, and rocking a milled down RM2 right now. Sweet.

Retiring and moving to Maine to shuck mods ;)

Believe me, it's crossed my mind!!! I was sorta thinking of this mod rebuilding as a "job interview" of sorts, Rob.......

And I have a good work ethic. I found out I have enough unused sick leave and vacation to get an extra 2 years of credit on my retirement! And I work cheap.....did I mention that?

All joking aside...it's interesting the twists and turns our lives will take. In this case, the road less traveled may be Rural Route 1, Maine.

Ayah. :)

So true. If I didn't have grandkids nearby, I'd have my car packed with a "Maine or Bust" sign hanging on the back. Ha. I'd just show up on Rob's doorstep and volunteer my services. Wouldn't that just be the Cat's Meow????!!!

I'm impulsive.....and a free spirit (except for those grandkids.) I could totally see it... :)

We're no longer living in the stagecoach days -- planes, trains and automobiles. Grandkids travel well. :) Follow your heart, friend.

btw...I spent much of my younger years in Camden, Maine. To date, there is no other place on the planet that gives me that feeling. Tough to describe -- tranquil, peaceful, joy.
