I'm sorry, but I need to rant

So i'm at my local bar, my friend is trying to quit smoking and is smoking a herbal mix. No tobacco, and nothing illegal, just herbs. Bar tender tells him to put it out. A while later the bar tender tells me to put a way my PV. I do, but now I'm out side on my phone. Because here's the thing, despite being illegal this bar lets you smoke. So tobacco is ok but any replacement therapy is not? Well they lost my business. Cant complain to my gf cause this is her hang out. So i'm on the street vaping and complaining.

Is it wrong that my first thought was I'd rather be standing outside a bar vaping in Santa Cruz then inside the bar vaping in the tiny town I'm currently living in? Seriously though that's a really stupid double standard they have going on there!

Sounds like this may be a good opportunity to meet the bar's actual manager and see if he might be interested in learning about vaping and consider giving that policy a change-up. Who knows, if you talk to him without it being confrontational, but educational and as an otherwise happy customer, especially since smoking is allowed in the bar, it may take the situation and make it a pretty cool opportunity...

Despite being illegal. Well sounds to me like they could get in trouble, I'd say to him, "isn't it illegal to smoke tobacco in here ?". " I could get you in alot of trouble, so why don't you let me vaporize this water and I won't say anything about what your allowing here ?".

I would be calling this guy out on everything, while trying not to get ...... off. Who the hell would allow cigarettes and not PV's in a place ? Its screwed up.

Not a whole lot you can do, try to educate the management, but narrow minded people are ignorant by choice. Stupid is just plain unfixable. I don't know the laws in your area pertaining to e-cigs, but you could try somewhere else, although you would have to convince your gf to change locations.

So far there aren't laws about e-cigs. Current legislation might make e-cigs banned where tobacco is, but not yet. But hey, these dive bars here in SC don't enforce the tobacco bans. Also, I wouldn't hold it over them or almost "blackmail" them. I use to smoke in these bars when I was a smoker - my problem is the whole double standard thing. I totally agree with being educational and not confrontational, but I find it funny because usually you have to educate people about e-cigs and how they aren't like tobacco. But this place that allows smoking, and not ecigs? Some mangers at bars that follow the law have told me I can vape inside. I scoff at the idea a smoking bar doesn't let me vape - it's hilarious and absurd. I will try to speak with someone, if they let me have my PV I will give them money again, if not - no more income from this guy. I'll just have to go to the non-smoking bars which let me vape. I'll let the others enjoy their 1st and 2nd hand smoke in their extremely smokey environment.

I understand your point, but they will do what they want. I wouldn't waste too much time with them, especially since you have the choice of going to bars that have a more sensible policy.

Okay, I'm a big proponent of not vaping where you can't smoke and not drawing unwanted attention to ourselves or otherwise making waves.... but that would have ...... me off righteously.
