man, i absolutely give up on wick based systems. try as i might, ever since i've upgraded from ego twists and moved on to more advanced vv devices or even kicked mods, i can't get them to work. not even rebuilds (which i have admittedly almost no experience with making them or using them-maybe tried them twice, three times max). i loved the vivi nova minis on my ego twist, but now, all i taste is burned wick on everything with a wick. even at low settings, i can't get no satisfaction. bottom coil wicks, ce3's...burning wick. i am hoping ss mesh will work better when i cross that bridge. but so far, nothing beats a freshly filled and properly primed carto tank with a single coil 2.5-3 ohm carto.

It's refreshing to see so many people enjoying carto/tanks when there seem to be new threads daily complaining about cartos and tanks. To me it's so easy I can hardly understand all the problems. I use Boge xl sr punched exclusively. They are tightly pack so I syringe fill with a sharp 20 gauge needle with about 1.5 or so ml of juice. It actually is quicker for me to fill a carto this way than dripping into a more loosely packed carto. Maybe I've been lucky but I haven't gotten any bad cartos. Of course most of mine have been purchased from co-ops so that I know they have come directly from Boge.

The only 2 real tricks to carto tanks is completely filling a new carto and getting a little filler tool to help with inserting cartos into the tank so you don't mess up the orings. Common sense and simple, IMHO.

Wow - and I thought it was just me. Here's my post in a a co-op thread a couple of weeks ago:

So I'm up to my armpits in CE4's and RBA's and BCC's and Vivi's and all manner of double-chambered, multi-wicked, airflow-controlled, head-changeable, cutting edge juice delivery apparatuses, and what do I really, really want? Cartomizers. Go figure.

I was having an almost physical craving for the straight-up, no nonsense, shut-up-and-vape-your-juice performance of a cartomizer, so last week I got a pack of 801 Fusions and a new carto tank (my first, believe it or not) and I AM IN HEAVEN! The draw is perfect. The wicking is perfect. The flavor perfect. It makes that satisfying, crackly "bacon frying" noise. The Pyrex tank is the exact diameter of my Vamo and with the red J-Wrap and the red Cherry Vapes ming tip, it's very pleasing to my eye as well.

So I've come full circle. I feel like Dorothy returning to Kansas - the trip to Oz was new and exciting, but truly, there's no place like home.

Like many others, over the last year I have tried many different types of devices but have found the best for me is a boge carto in a tank. I have 3 Phiniac Tanks that I fill with 3 different flavors of juices to vape on my provari's everyday. I find the flavors to get dull and the nic lessens after a full tank is run through one though. Not sure how some of you are puffing on these things for weeks, they are only made for use of 1ml of juice to go through them. I usually refill all 3 tanks with new cartos every 2-3 days so I guess I vape a lot :vapor:

I fill my tanks at least 1-2 times a day, and my cartos work just fine for a week or two. I don't use heavy pg liquid. Maybe one day I will find a rba that doesn't give me burnt wick flavor (gonna try ss mesh), and maybe the rba world will be a bit less confusing when I get into it. Cartomizer tanks are so handy, hassle free, and often really neat looking. They remind me of the matchbox cars I used to collect as a kid, probably because I have too many...and tbey are everywhere.

I highly recommend the Ikenvape 510 Fusion or Platinum if you can land some. They are truly a premium quality carto and worth trying to get some. I recommend getting on the mailing list for notification. And don't delay pulling the trigger, they will sell out in literally minutes.

Have you tried any Smoktek single coil tank replacements? They are what I used prior to the Ikenvapes, and still will be my backup carto should I ever run out the the IKE's.

Single Coil XL Tank replacement 510 cartomizer for 3.5 and 6ml SmokTank XL - w/flange and 1, 2 or 3 holes.

hey bad can you tell me what is the "noticeable" difference between boges and Ikenvapes platinum or Fusion?

After using every regular atomizer I can think of and multiple rebuildable drippers and gennys I am slowly becoming a cargo guy. Simple and easy to use. Only one thing I'm using a jtank and an IBtank. And after vaping for awhile the top of my filler becomes dry. It vape fine but the tops white and dry. I take a couple dry puffs but I can never get it fully wet again. Is it not wicking enough?

Are you using high VG juice? Do you punch your own carto's, and how many holes? It really doesn't matter who's tank it is. A tank merely holds the juice.

Are you getting dry hits, burnt taste? The carto's really shouldn't look too wet on top. That's an indication of flooding.

I vape up to 65/35 with one hole, and never have problems unless I get a bad carto.

Edit: I have had a couple carto's look wet on top, and that's when I start getting the "gurgling" noises.

Juice is 70/30 pg/VG and my carto are pre punched boge. 2 holes and I made them a bit bigger. Still dry on top.

If you hit it dry, and get a burned taste, the taste will remain there. I'm looking at the top of my carto right now, and it doesn't appear wet, yet it vapes very well.

Nope no dry hits. So its not a big deal then? Is its bad to give it a couple dry pulls now and then?

I started with the cheapo clearos that came with my knock off ego batt, they sucked and i knew it within a couple of weeks. Then I tried Boge single coil cartos, better, but a lot of duds and they don't last long. Smoktech dual coil xl cartos are THE best for me, they hold a ton of juice, only fill them twice a day. I get a taste that means they're drying out before an actual burnt dry hit. I like them better than my Vision Vivi Nova. They last weeks and weeks too and have that little extra hollow part at the end that covers the Ego threading so they look better too. Hate the mouthpiece but I've been told no drip tips will fit them because they're wider than normal cartos.

Cartos only. Kanger LR though. I seem to be the odd man out here :) Boge LR are also good. Just got turned off them during Bogegate, I guess. I like the tighter draw on the Kangers and they seem to me to give more vapor due to a slower drag. Once a week, I pull and rinse the polyfill, dry burn like an atty and reinstall with the coffee stirrer trick. I been vaping the same Kangers for months now and they perform just the same.

I do miss the crackling of a Boge and have a few 2.0's set aside if needed.

I guess you and I are the only ones who use Kangers anymore. I get the 2.7 ohm XL which hold over 2 ml of juice. I have used Boges, which taste great, but I always ended up scorching them because I would accidentally let the wick get dry. Once it's toasted, it's toast. Much harder to let a bottom coil go dry, so Kanger it is for me. I have also tried several versions of clearos, but they just taste off for some reason, as well as have wicking, gurgling, and leaking problems. Gonna give the Kanger EVOD a try next. Fingers crossed.
