Hi and welcome to the forum.you are in the right place! When I first started vaping this happened to me as well. I read of a trick chocolate tasters used to reset their palate and taste buds. This trick wored wonderfully for me. It didn't work for my husband though, but it's worth a try. What you do is get freshly ground coffee and inhale the aroma several times throughout the day. This should help rest your taste. Believe It or not vapors tongue has more to do with your nose than tongue. This trick worked wonders for me. It's sure worth a try. If it does not work you might just have to wait it out. It WILL eventually get better I promise you this. So hang in there! You can do this !! I'm rooting for you!! Best wishes to you!!

Hang in there Jesse.

If you find something that doesnt work for you, view it as a learning experience and keep looking until you find something that does.

The number one trait that successful people share is perseverance. Even if you backpedal a bit use that to figure out what went wrong and KEEP TRYING!

You'll get there eventually and be so proud of yourself when you do.

Oh and I forgot to add. I know what you're talking about with the weight and other problems. I'm 30, nothing but high school education, 280lbs, live at home with my parents, unemployed at the moment. Battling depression, anxiety and PTSD. I ssd laid up for a few years with a medical problem I won't go into here, and nobody wants to hire someone with a several year gap on the old resume. Lots of old friends have moved on and away from me. I have a wonderful girlfriend though who's always helped me. And I quit smoking in June. And I'm enrolled in my local poly technical institute now in their computer programs. Life can get better. And sometimes all it takes to get the ball rolling is a small change like ditching the cigarettes. I'm down to 265 since I quit. And my life is getting back on track and I'm starting to feel much better physically!
Keep it up man! And good luck!

Welcome Uncle00Jesse
In hindsight i may have had the vapor tongue seemed like the vaping wasn't as good as it was at first. Trouble is I didn't know anything but i kept at it and things just figured themselves out. Don't know if i accidentaly did something to make things ok again.
I was and well still are going through e liquids from companies to see what i like.

I don't know if there is any science behind it , something to do with stopping smoking and vaping ( though I've read more than once that vaping can be drying ) so keep up your fluids.

Obviously its better than smoking so don't let that smoking monkey get on your back.
Keep experimenting with different liquids and try different voltages/wattage that helps me for some liquids.

By any chance might you be coming down with something or having allergy problems? Like someone above said, taste is largely smell. So, if your sinuses are yucky, your taste will be yucky also.

Another possibility, have you recently started taking any new medication? When I started taking Metformin for my diabetes, I lost all sense of taste (after a couple of weeks of everything tasting metallic).

Good luck!

Hello and welcome. Don't give up I have an aspire natualus mini and a kangerTech Either can flood occasionally I usually check the coil is fitted snugly. Then I try to take very slow gentle drags this usually sorts it out. As you can see from all the responses we are here for you. If you have a stinky stick it's not the end of the world, just pick yourself up, dust yourself down and get vaping. You will get the hang of it.

Halo you all!

Yup.. as mentioned earlier in the thread, smoking is very hard to quit.
Im also very new to vaping, after about one week since my first e-sig dropped down at home. Allready i have hade one quick jump backwards the other day, want and bought a pack of smokes, lighted one up and.. so darn disqusting compared to vaping!

One thing i have noticed, wich meems to work for me, is the VW battery that i have. I also had a day when the vaping did not taste anything.. What i then tried was to turn the W to maximum, that made the trick to me.

Perhaps one of the best ideas why to go for a VW battery instead of a permanent voltage one?

Hang in there dude! Every day you stay of the smokes is a day you give yourself a better life..

One step at a time, Jesse :) You said it yourself - it's not all going to change overnight.

Your tastebuds are starting to recover, so things will be "off" for a bit. Drink LOTS of water (it helps keep you hydrated and flushes gunk from your system). I'm days long gone from taking shots (10-15 yrs ago, no sweat!). You might want to find a strong menthol juice (not even tobacco-flavored) to take a hit here and there. I will do that when my tastebuds get "bored", or even when my head feels stuffy. Kinds opens up the airway a bit.

I've also seen people comment on sniffing coffee beans. That can "reset" some of your tasting capabilities.

I have the MVP and the full-sized and mini Nautiluses. So far (after 2 months) I've not had any leaking issues. Make sure the coil is "snug" in the base, and make sure the rest of the pieces are "snug" but not over-tight. You don't mention what airhole setting you're using - you might be drawing too much, like how you may have drawn on cigarettes. Longer, easier draws - not at all like sucking a milkshake through a coffee stirrer. Also, keep the draw going for just a moment AFTER you release the fire button. That will pull any lingering vapor from the chimney and help preclude it from recondensing.

Hang in there - we're all here for ya. One step at a time :)

I struggled with vape tongue for almost the first month. Much like you, at first it was all great, and then nothing. I vaped cinnamon and menthol to help get me through. It can be a PITA when equipment malfunctions. Maybe grab a cheap back-up? I started with Evod sets, so that was one nice aspect, there are two, so when one went goofy, at least I had a back-up. Hang in there!

Good advice above. My 2 cents...

re: taste... Smoking wreaks havoc on your senses of taste and smell. Quitting temporarily wreaks more havoc, but it WILL improve in time. Also, your expectations versus the realities of what vaping can provide flavor-wise might be out of proportion at this moment, as were mine when I first started. There's a learning curve and experimentation involved in discovering what flavors really work for you day in and day out. What I thought was great when I first started (mainly high nic 'red type' liquids) now tastes horrible to me. If you'd told me I'd be vaping custard and tiramisu and loving it I'd have branded you crazy. And those favorites are temporary. Next week it'll be something else (that I never dreamed I'd like). Do a lot of switching between liquids. Strawberies are delicious, but if you eat them for breakfast, lunch and dinner you'll come to hate them quickly. Variety is the spice of life. Try it all, keep an open mind, and don't get bummed out when you burn out on a flavor. There's always something else you'll like more.

re, equipment...keep it simple, man! Kanger EVOD glass and EGO-C twists are my recommendation. Though I've since acquired a mountain of more exotic, expensive vaping junk, I never leave home without my venerable EGO-C EVOD glass. Compact, light, durable, and most important, eminently reliable. Just whip it out and vape it.

Vape stores are in business to make a profit, and right now it seems they're making healthy profits on Nautilus hype. With apologies to the hordes of Nautilus fans, mine is the most unreliable piece of gear I own. Actually, everything "Aspire" that I own has let me down at a critical moment. I love my MVP 2, and it's solid and reliable, but it's also a brick, so it stays at home. I also love to tinker with my Kayfuns etc....when I'm at home and within arm's reach of my equipment, but I would never consider taking them anywhere out of the house except to a vaping party. Go with EVOD/EGO-C twist (or something similarly simple) and work up from there.

re: relapse...I smoke-vaped for well over a month before I felt secure enough with vaping (mainly, my gear) to trust it completely. "What if this battery dies? What if the tank runs dry? What if it breaks? What if? What if? What if? I read between the lines of your post a good amount of the same 'distrust'. Don't panic! Allow yourself a transition period. If you feel you need a cigarette, smoke one. Smoke ONE...then back to vaping. Don't beat yourself up over it. Now's not the time to descend into self-defeat. Just keep plugging away and you WILL find your groove.

re: weight...It never ceases to amaze me how thoroughly my "Vanilla cake" eliquid has satisfied the (nightly) craving I used to have for twinkies (insert your preferred junk food here). Contrary to popular folklore, I've actually LOST 40 lbs. since I quit smoking. Keep it in mind.

Chin up, keep vaping, give it a chance!

Welcome Jesse! Don't give up. I knew it's hard to have patience with this thing, bit it is worth it. Promise.

As for the flooding, my nautilus was doing quite a bit of that. I found that when I unscrewed the tank portion to refill it, the coil head was unscrewing a bit and letting juice down into the air chamber. I started just taking the whole thing apart and making sure there was no excess in the air chamber and soaking it up if there was, and wiping down all the threading and reassembling the bottom before refilling. It's a little bit of a pain, but it doesn't spit at me anymore once a new coil is broken in.

Hope that helps a bit. Congrats on switching! Once you get it down, you'll never want to go back, believe you me. Happy Vaping!

Hey Jesse! You're doing something really good for yourself. Just take it one day at a time, and don't beat yourself up if you have a cigarette, like others have said. There is even a pretty good chance that doing so will be so disgusting that you don't want to smoke another. And I heartily cosign the DRINK WATER mantra. Lots of water, more than you think you need. Just increasing your body's hydration in general will make you feel much better I think. This is a good, supportive community that will have your back. Don't give up, you can do it!

Welcome to the forum Jessie.

You have gotten some good advice and some great words of encouragement Jessie, but I will reiterate some of the same sentiments. For vapor tongue I have heard honey and lemon are a solution, try the coffee as well.

Don't beat yourself up it is not the easiest transition for many and frustrations can lead to a smoke, so what if it does Fretting and stressing over a smoke is not going to help just be thankful for all the ones that you don't have. If you have the real desire to quit then you will be able to but it may not be easy.

Ask a lot of questions and read, this place can be a distraction from smoking by itself lol.

The nautilus is pretty reliable, but having the airflow closed down too much will make it flood. If possible open it up a size or two. Hope that helps!
My experience with the Nautilus tanks are a bit different. I found the full size one with bvc coils to be a constant pain in the rear if left to sit for awhile. The mini though was and is still a reliable tank that I recommend.

Hi and welcome! I may be late to the party, but to reiterate what others have said stick with it!!!! Luckily for me I quit smoking the very same evening that I purchased my first "starter kit". I tag-teamed with an analog 3 different times and only made it halfway through and for some reason I just didn't get my usual "fix".

I too suffered olfactory fatigue (vapers tongue) and all my stuff tasted either nasty, peppery, or harsh. Thankfully it came and went and I don't really remember when the last time I experienced it. I learned to hate cigarettes and don't like to be around smokers anymore. I smoked PAD+ for over 20 years and luckily it took me just one day to break the "need" and I just didn't desire a smoke anymore. Honestly I don't think I could even stomach one.

The overall health rewards will eventually reveal themselves completely and it will be a joyous experience.

The cravings and olfactory fatigue are temporary and soon you will find your vape-vanna.

Just remember it took you a while to get used to cigs. Switching to vaping is about the same and unfortunately there is no instant cure for everyone. If you have been cig free for 4 days I'd bet that they will be different to you if you smoked one.

Best of luck!

Go get the strongest cinnamon juice you can find. Then have them put in extra flavor, and get it at a higher nicotine level. Your taste buds are on strike, and ya just gotta work through it.

On the Nautilus though, I might be able to help. I can't post links, but search for: Apire BVC heads leaking bad in New Members Forum. I posted everything I've been able to figure out. And while I sometimes still get a little spit, it's a LOT better.

Good luck and stay strong
