Six weeks ago DH came home with a new ecig kit for himself and after over 45 years of smoking he hasn't had a cig since. A week later he brought a kit home for me to try. Didn't care for the taste of the juice but I could see the possibilities. Since then I've ordered at least 12 samples but still haven't had that "aha" moment many talk about. I have a couple I'm using that aren't bad, but I'm still smoking about a half pack a day. I have smoked lite or ultra lite menthols for at least 40 years.

Any suggestions any of you fine folk have to offer? Thank you!!

Me and you boo. Same boat, I got off. I found "the juice" for me. One question. Do you like the taste of your menthols? If yes, read on, if not, I can't answer.

My advice is to find the juice and hardware that gets you as close or better to what you've been doin' the last 40 years. Then, and only then, will you have a shot. Like I tell people.." I didn't smoke watermelons for 20 years". Peace.

My unit: ego900mah and mini evod 1.8 ohm. Winboro Lights (14mg) Koolport Ice (14mg) Vape on!

Thanks Chimney, I really appreciate the kind words. So many seem to post that they started ecigs and "poof" no smokes. As noted I'm hanging in there as I can see the possibilites. I'm using 12mg nic cause DH's 24 about choked me. Maybe the 18 would do the trick.
Thank you again!! :)

Yes, I would try 18mg if I were you. Another thing you can try is find a very strong menthol juice. Now find a flavor you really like, and try making a mix of the two. I never smoked menthol cigarettes, but I keep a small bottle of menthol around to add to some fruit flavors. It really wakes them up. The advice to seek out a B&M with a sampling bar is good.

Congratulations on cutting back, and good luck to you in the future. Oh, and welcome to ECF! You can do it! :vapor:

Experiment! I was a menthol smoker. But, it turns out I prefer sweet coffee flavors like Caramel Macchiato and Tiramisu.

By eGo-T, do you mean the eGo-T battery or the whole eGo-T kit with the little tanks? That's what i started with. The flavor is ok. But, the throat hit is lacking.

Try experimenting with different toppers. The eGo-type battery is pretty much the standard. So, most toppers will fit. You could try a bottom-coil clearomizer (like Evod or ProTank), a top-coil clearomizer (like Vivi Nova or CE5), carto-tanks, simple atomizers (like 510 or 306), . . . . . The possibilities are endless. It's relatively inexpensive to just buy one of each to see which you prefer.

You might also try variable voltage. It makes any topper and juice combination you use more versatile. You can experiment and see what voltage works best with each topper and each flavor.

If you want to experiment with equipment, a good kit is Spinner-Twist_Combo.

And, congratulations on cutting back! You're off to a great start! Enjoy the journey!

HI, your post reminded me of myself. I joined the first part of March, and many of my posts have been about flavors or lack thereof. Your taste buds are probably not firing on all cylinders yet. Members suggested to me that I brush my tongue when I brush my teeth, and drink plenty of water. (Lots of water, really) The only flavors that I have really been able to taste are Chocolate and Coffee. My first week I drove to a Vape shop 85 miles away to ask some questions, and try some juices. It was way too early in the process for me. Everything tasted like chemicals, even the juices that are known for their sweetness. So maybe you, like me, will be waiting for your taste buds to come around before you get a truly flavorful vape. My suggestion is to buy tobacco or chocolate flavors until your taste buds come around.

Good luck on your journey! I hope you find something you like very soon. Don't give up!

Mike, you've made me feel much better. I'm not saying that maybe eventually I won't like "watermelon" someday, I just don't see how it will take away my menthol/tobacco craving. I guess I'll keep trying as much as my finances will allow to find something that hits that spot. Have a great day! :)

Thanks alot Neal, that actually makes sense. I haven't tried any variations on the PG/VG so maybe that would do the trick. And I think you're right on the healing part too. For most of my life I've smoked 2 packs a day and for the last 10 days it's been less than 1/2 a pack a day and my lungs seem to be in shock.

yes when you stop smoking the lungs get a chance to clean out and stuff tends to come up; you end up coughing and feel like you should take a smoke to stop the coughing. I remember feeling like that.

Dancing - I just know the stuff DH gave me was an Ego-t battery and the tops are SmokRBC. I guess I need to do more research to see if the top or a variable battery would make a difference. A half pack per day is actually good for me, but unless I find that missing piece I don't know how I'll quit. Thank you for your help!! :)

Hi, I'm new here - just finished registering & to be honest I have no idea what I'm doing lol. I decuded to register to get some information on e-cigs. I feel like I've done hours of research & wasted money only to end up where I began ... hamster on a wheel I guess cause now I'm more confused & very frustrated. If anyone can help me I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks Mama. I've found a menthol that's not too bad, but maybe if I include a tobacco flavor I won't feel like I'm still missing something.

Keep in mind that there's more in cigs than just nicotine. I was told when I started vaping that I would feel like I was missing something and that feeling could last up to a month.

Your body also craves all those other nasty chemicals that come with smoking and it takes time for those cravings to go away.

My first liquid was nothing fancy it was Grape Ape from Niquid. since then i have become a huge fan of Mt Bakers Cinnamon Roll and Razzle Dazzle. id just say stick with it and keep on looking. also i would recommend that you find a vape store locally that will let you try a juice before making a purchase and its seems that most of them are letting people do that now.

How much do you smoke, how long have you smoked, and what have you got yourself so far?
Have you tried any of the disposables?

Momotaro, DH got me an eGo-t with SmokRBC tops. Really not sure if this is good or bad.

I started with an ego-t too :)

Like you, I'm a menthol smoker. I selected pure menthol juice with a touch of koolada. I've found sub-zero from Halo to be extremely helpful in aiding the transition from analogs to solely vaping. The coolness from the koolada (cooling agent) coupled with the menthol taste almost exactly the same as a Marlboro Black Menthol. Throat hit etc was spot on. I've tried other novelty flavors but something seems to be missing. Its definitely not the nicotine (since that can easily be adjusted), rather the menthol throat hit and coolness while exhaling.

My advise is don't go cold turkey on analogs straight away. Cut down on your analogs slowly and try picking up your mod instead of lighting up whenever you have a craving. It takes time and a bit of effort but you'll get there :)

Once you get the hang of things but still feel that something is missing, try changing your setup. I got a mech mod and a RBA tank and the difference in taste, flavour and throat hit was so pronounced. Took me 2 days to realise I was actually eager to vape rather than light an analog. Been analog free ever since. In fact, I've also started trying other flavors (apart from menthol). I'm starting to appreciate and enjoy the nuances in flavor from non-menthol juices and it has been a blast!

Although its still at an early stage, but I'm still blown away that vaping actually works. I'm positive vaping will have a positive impact on your life. Just stick to it without much expectations and try replicate your smoking habit/taste as closely as possible.

You will get there like most of us on ECF :)
