I have a Uwell Crown and a Sig 150W TC. I purchased the RBA for the Crown, 100% cotton, and Ni200 resistance wire. I've tried the Ni200 pre-made coils that come with the Crown. I didn't like the taste (I've read that it takes some time before the coil is broken in). So, I tried building my own coils. No matter the number of wraps, I can never get within the range of 0.15 or 0.2. All my builds on the RBA are coming in at 0.09 or lower. I've tried contacting the wire and spacing the wire and nothing seems to work like the Crown pre-made coils. With my RBA builds, I get a cold vape no matter how high I turn the temp and joules up. I'm wondering if the wire is the problem or perhaps its just the RBA deck itself. With the pre-made Crown coils, I get a nice hot vape and I can adjust temp and joules up and down to vary the vape heat.

RBA deck uses:

RoHS Nickel 200 Resistance Wire 28g

Crown pre-made uses:

Well, I don't think I need to explain this because it can be found online.

You are using 28 awg ni200 and can't get enough resistance?
If you want to stick with nickel the answer is really simple. Get a lighter gauge wire and don't run contact coils. You shouldn't even need to be asking this, ECF has a great search function. If you don't understand how wire gauge effects resistance you shouldn't be making coils.

Wow...thanks for your input.

If wrapped on a #6-32 machine screw...

Steam Engine: 0.15 = 12.51 Wraps

Steam Engine: 0.20 = 16.78 Wraps

The Crown RBA deck looks pretty small. Might want to use 30g Ni200 to acheive your target resistance with spaced wraps that will fit the deck.

I have tried wraping 12, 13 and even 14. My issue is that the Crown has a small deck. I end up bending the legs to screw them down. No matter how many wraps, I still don't end up with my target 0.15 ohms. The highest I've gotten is 0.14. That was the closet to my target ohm level. And for the record to ease the stressed posters, I have no problem with Kanthal wire. I'll just keep trying until I have it right.

If you have an android phone look for an app called "cloud box". This has been a major help for me and the coils I wanted to build. Put in the resistance the wire and it will tell you the amount of wraps. I put in my resistance at .8 ohms, I did the amount of wraps, and it came at exactly .8 ohms. It does work.
