I'm sure this is a repeat, but why cartos?

Ya congrats on the 3 weeks, that is awesome!

vaping is really personal preference, in my opinion. Hubby and I vape totally different flavors and have very different set ups. He only uses like a side winder carto type thing. I have rebuilables, vivis, protank and cartos. I think cartos are very portable and true to flavor with the least amount of fuss.

Now hubby gets me to set up his gear and refills with needle tops on the sidewinder. But his deal is the more he has to mess with it the less interested he is. I am a gear head, he knows how to turn on the TV and blu ray, I got the compters and ecigs.

Baditude is slacking.... :)

Once you get over the learning curve they're just very convenient and reliable. Prime carto, fill tank, vape until empty and refill.
No rinsing or dry-buring, no leaking, no anything really, they just work great.

Now there's bad batches of cartos happing and a few odd duds here and there, but generally I think cartos in tanks are great.

Most of the string-wicked delivery devices leave me wanting in flavor production, are position dependent, and often inconsistant. I find clearomizers and T3's give a harsh vape. Tried the lastest version of the Vivi Nova and was mildly impressed with the short time I've used them.

My standby vape for several months has been a pyrex cartotank with an Ikenvape cartomizer. Consistant flavor production and generally a smoother vape. Not position dependent. I'm comfortable carrying my PV with a cartotank in a pocket and not worrying about leaking. Unlike using a cartomizer solo, I can easily view the juice levels in a tank. Using a pyrex tank I don't have to worry about a flavor cracking/melting the tube.

Cartotanks do have a slight learning curve and use a somewhat unique vaping technique for best results. However, if the carto is pre-filled correctly (adequately), the correct number of holes are in the carto for the juice used, the tank itself is filled correctly, and you use the right vaping technique ...cartotanks offer one of the better vaping experiences available IMHO.

For me, clearo's have a plastic-y taste to them. On top of the fact, they will tend to crack when filled with cinnamon and citrus juices. Carto's have a really good flavor and produce vapor. I really like the U-DCTank setup. I had one of the original DC Tanks when they first came out and enjoyed it, and they have improved immensely over even that.

I'm not the least little bit fond of the polyfill taste from cartos so never bothered with the tanks.

I strongly favor the flavor of dripping but found the process way, way too fussy. Squonking a bottom feeder seemed to me to pose the same issues of battling a too dry/too wet atty as manual dripping so I never bothered with trying one.

Avid's AMP Tank solved all my dripping problems. The taste is identical, not similar, but identical to dripping. I've found my AMP Tanks make it easy peasy for me to keep the atty perfectly saturated in either in manual or auto-feed mode.

Next to the AMP Tank for flavor I like Kanger's little M3 clearos. However, they don't hold much and are annoying to clean. Dry burning to keep the coils clean is pretty much by guess and by golly.

I have been thoroughly underwhelmed with my AGA-T2s with stainless wicks as far as taste is concerned. I've got some ceramic wicks but haven't been particularly motivated to try them since my AMP tanks are working so well for me.

I despise cartos. They ALL taste like some kind of filler. All.

She got that wrong after "Atty". For "Atty" it goes like:

Atty>carto>puke>drip for 2 years>tanks or clearos.

But YMMV.

Want the best taste, try dripping.

:D

My fav is to drip with a bottom feeder. Next is carto/tank on a different pv.

You guys are awesome! I will def give cartos another shot, a much more patient attempt next time, and gonna read back through all of the suggestions and make some choices on which way I want to go. I have been oogling over some of the hand blown glass carto tanks from Phiniac...another problem for me has been spending way too much money on this stuff! It's all so awesome! Oh, and on a side note, something I learned this afternoon: Don't shop for new juice when you are hungry!

I'm still pretty new here, but as for me, I'm currently using a punched boge in a dct and honestly, it takes 5 minutes to get ready, I fill it every so often, and it gives me no problems, good vape, good flavor, I've tried vivi novas, clearos, and tank style, this has been my favorite. I'm wanting to try an rba, but it feels intimidating

Whoa, wait a sec here, I know nothing about the glass tanks and drip tips. Need to get more info on these for sure. I'd like to make my own if possible. I need something purple for my purple Provari. Double amber purple borosilicate glass would be perfect!!

If you like glass tanks you might want to take a look at these blown glass beauties with matching drip tips. Sagewood also has an ECF thread, Sagewood Glass - Fine Hand Blown Drip Tips, Carto Tanks, Juice Jars & More!.

I prefer Vivi's or my Igo-l's at night when I'm home. I have tried tanks and carts but they don't seem to wick good with my juice I like and I have to do alot of dry sucking, etc. the only carts I do like are the XL Ressurectors that hold 2.5 ml of juice so you don't really need a tank. They are ugly but they have the best flavor to me for carts. I keep them around for newbs and backup.

3 weeks analog free TODAY! I've been using Viva Nova's and clearomizers and decided to try a carto tank yesterday. I watched a nice instruction video on how to fill it...let's just say I'm not very good at following instructions and not only did it take forever, it got messy and I got impatient and I hit it too soon, which brought about a lovely burning Q-tip taste/smell, and then I over compensated and flooded the darn thing! I know, I know, operator error 100%! I know I did EXACTLY everything wrong but I am still curious as to why so many people prefer carto tanks?

I agree...novas are best choice for me as well...tried cartos but went back to my nova very fast

I have stalked that thread obsessively! So impressed with all the pretty set-ups. I have an order in with Teena for some tips and charms, they are SO pretty! Okay, gonna click the link for tanks now...

IMHO, if you know how to use them properly and aren't spoiled by the superior taste of atomizers, cartomizer tanks can deliver a great vape with near no fuss portability. As long as you prime them and become experienced refilling them, they can last for weeks. I highly recommend that people try them if they haven't.

That being said, I've barely touched a cartomizer tank in the past month since I got my AMP Tank which I take with me everywhere. It's definitely fiddly, but the quality of the vape is well worth the trouble. It's definitely more hassle and leaky than cartomizer tanks.

I've also been using RBAs a bunch lately. The vape on a 1Ω coil is pretty incredible. Although the wick and coil is rock solid if using silica, it leaks out the air hole when tilted and requires regular refilling. Again, more hassle (relatively, at least the initial setup) and leaky than cartomizer tanks.

I have a bunch of IBtanked Pyrex tanks with cartomizers filled with juice. At least until I replace them with submersible rebuildable atomizers some day.
