thanks, man. i do keep up with that thread. ;)

So, you mean if someone wanted to order and assemble their own GDNA internals, get a shell from me (GDibiNA) . . .. they could order the plastic caps to go with it and then have them chrome plated?
Ok I got got word back from the company..... So what I asked is if they can paint the shell and accents, internal, cap mix match and this is what he sent back just now

Hi George,

We do offer some chroming options, but it would depend on the product and quantity. We’d also need to do some prototyping in terms of adhesion testing to be sure it would work on a product. How many of these units would be done and could we get one in to prototype?

Thanks, Jason

I should post the chroming process here if there's interest here ....... Not much there so.......?

I don't think there's any harm in posting about the chroming process. There's plenty of room in here. some folks may want to order shells and have caps chromed. IDK.

No, I hear ya. It's just I posted that here with no prior mention....I posted video of the process I can copy paste here if you'd like? I don't know if they will even take it on yet I'm thinking about sending them a plastic mech assembly to 1)see if they can do it 2)how well it turns out..... Being that it's printed, the lines may have to be prepped prior to chroming.... But I've seen this process done on deer antlers?? Lol

I'm not sure if this finishing idea has brought up before, but I've been looking at these finishes and remembered a CHROMING SYSTEM that I almost bought into to. Its spray on chrome, non toxic and the results are truly unbelievable and a great variety of color preferences. There's another company for you 1% er's that does real gold plating (cosmic gold, I believe) on plastic or whatever, I've seen a picture of chromed deer antlers (? Whatever? ) in the 3 step process there's an actuating step that fills in rough surfaces and preps material for the product.
Here's a picture of a piece of ceramic tile ((10 years old, and scuffed up) but that goes to the resiliency of the finish)) that was sent to me along with their literature:
The link is a series of videos showing the process. I think that this beautiful mod is begging for a finish like this. There are different finishing processes. I know that there is a flexible chrome finish that would be perfect for your creations either the Dna or the Mech......in my case definitely BOTH!
I've seen hydrographics but not this
Check this out!
It was conceived because of all the restrictions and bans on the traditional process using copper (but that was on metal anyway) this process has been around for a long time the automobile industry had the technology and someone came up with a condensed mobile version of what the auto industry does on a grand scale chroming emblems, lettering, interior door handles etc.... for vehicles.

Here's an update in regard to the patina'ed afc: Mark states he did his zenith afc about month ago with no deterioration.

Also he won't put another hole in it :( I don't blame him that's not in his wheelhouse.

Well that's good news. I wouldn't want someone messing around with my holes who doesn't even belong in my wheelhouse. Also I'm confused who patina'ed whom and why we have a whole nother kettle of fish cookin?

All I know is MamaTried probably started it.

and why do wheels need a house anyways?.....

Lookie what came in the mail today

The brass and copper sleeves are gorgeous!

I can't imagine putting a patina on either. But maybe a third.....

What's the little L shaped thing with the two little bits in the Baggie for?

Unlike the rest of you blokes who know what you're doing already, I'll be waiting for the weekend to build my nuppin. I'll be wrapping my first coils and hope to do a dual coil set up. I like a challenge...,we'll see how that goes.....
