Would be interesting to hear your thoughts on the matter after you have had a few days to think about it. I am assuming you have knowledge of flight characteristics of military aircraft so yes, it would be of interest to me to see what you think in a few days.

Well frankly I wasn't planning on thinking about it much but this was no military aircraft. No aircraft or spacecraft could possibly generate that kind of light intensity. Perhaps it was a meteor collision in space, whatever it was it was quite impressive.

Maybe it was a Sprite. (super high atmospheric, superbright)

"Towards the end of November, during a thaw, at nine o'clock one morning, a train on the Warsaw and Petersburg railway was approaching the latter city at full speed. The morning was so damp and misty that it was only with great difficulty that the day succeeded in breaking; and it was impossible to distinguish anything more than a few yards away from the carriage windows.

Some of the passengers by this particular train were returning from abroad; but the third-class carriages were the best filled, chiefly with insignificant persons of various occupations and degrees, picked up at the different stations nearer town. All of them seemed weary, and most of them had sleepy eyes and a shivering expression, while their complexions generally appeared to have taken on the colour of the fog outside.

When day dawned, two passengers in one of the third-class carriages found themselves opposite each other. Both were young fellows, both were rather poorly dressed, both had remarkable faces, and both were evidently anxious to start a conversation. If they had but known why, at this particular moment, they were both remarkable persons, they would undoubtedly have wondered at the strange chance which had set them down opposite to one another in a third-class carriage of the Warsaw Railway Company."

Actually Pic & it didn't happen. ;)

I made a dibie-like from a wood/resin blank Mundy. I generally don't show my feeble attempts to copy Pete's great design but in your case I'll make an exception to motivate you to get working ;)

Ok this is certainly way off topic but I have to share this experience with you folks.

Flying last night at 39000 feet, it was a clear night and we were heading eastbound (heading 095) at the time. At approximately 12 o'clock ( straight ahead) high, in fact very high, I would guestimate way outside the atmosphere a light appeared and progressively got brighter. Way brighter and much larger while moving from right to left. The object became about 4-5 times brighter than it first started then suddenly disappeared.

Now I'll say that I've been flying 30 years and have seen many times meteors entering the earths atmosphere and burning up, I've seen 10's if not hundreds of satellites but this thing was completely different.

Meteors falling make a reddish/yellowish light which has somewhat of a tail but this was completely round and brilliant white. It's luminosity and size were increasing in intensity and size and then it suddenly disappeared.

Satellites have a tendency to also reflect sunlight and seem like bright objects however since it was night and we were heading eastbound (sun is rising ahead of us) it would be impossible for a satellite to reflect the sun towards our direction nor with such intensity as this object had.

The only way I could possibly justify this sighting is perhaps a very large meteor halling with an entry trajectory directly towards us so it's tail wasn't visible from our position but it certainly had a brightness and brilliant white glow like I've never seen before.

Even the way it disappeared is not common to a meteor falling. Those have a tendency to glow then gradually extinguish (fade) as they break up entering the atmosphere. This thing just switched off without any fading and it was certainly way bigger than anything I've ever seen in all my years of flying.

My co-pilot was equally baffled by what we both clearly saw

If anything I agree with this quote by Jodie Foster from the movie Contact

" I'll tell you one thing about the universe, though. The universe is a pretty big place. It's bigger than anything anyone has ever dreamed of before. So if it's just us... seems like an awful waste of space. Right? "

Steve, did the guy with big hair (Giorgio A. Tsoukalos) see you after your flight to interview you for ancient aliens? I know you think maybe meteor, but would not the ancient alien astronaut theory of it really being an alien spacecraft looking to land on its docking station (a pyramid in whatever area you were flying) and cut up some more perfectly square blocks for dibby sumpins' be more plausible? Could it be that Peters works of art are really just alien artifacts in which the idea was planted in his brain and magically comes through his hands.... The magnets reverse poles and the mod can levitate... And furthermore doesn't Giorgio look like he could be a distant relative of Peters....

Then again, perhaps God intended to give us silly humans a heck of a lot of Lebensraum... ;)
(Wait, we'd better not get too deep into this here, lest we get cast into the Outside)
