I used the .4 coil too, and that also dribbled. The .16 in the cleito 120 also dribbled. Guess I bought a pair of dribblers when I should have used an Avocado from the get go....

We've all done the "turning a potato into a battery" experiment. However, I dont think @Mooch has quite finished running tests on the Avocado batteries. Whats the CDR on that thing?:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Do you hit MTL or DTL ? Does your KBOX Mini support Temp Control ?
You can achieve all that you want with the KBOX and a SubTank Mini using the RBA, but the wicking is very tricky and usually from too much. I still use one in daily rotation [since they came out] with a .54ohm stainless steel coil, in SS mode, and 420F. Great old school stuff. I also use another SubTank Mini with a .46ohm SS coil, SS mode, 440F, on a Reuleaux RX200S [I don't care for the plastic battery holder/tabs on the RX2/3].
The DNA chipset is good when you get it set, and Escribe is a pain.[bet you won't like foolin' with it] If you choose one, I suggest the VT133. I have boxed mine, and use both the HohmWrecker G2 and the HohmSlice in place of them. One G2 has an Avocado 22mm, single SS .56ohm, 420F/18.5W....one HohmSlice with an Avocado 24mm dual SS .58ohm, 420F/28.5W
A very good [old school and proven] tank is a Kayfun V5, and you can get a 1:1 clone [very good] SJMY Kayfun V5 for very few $$$$. MTL or DTL, easy build, EASY wicking, and NEVER leaks. [You must always lube the two bottom o-rings, with straight VG, each time you take it apart. I use at least 4 K-5's every day....in temp, in voltage, and in wattage....on P3's, TC100W's, G2's, KBOX, with single .5ohm-.6ohm SS coils.

The spitting is generally caused by too much power for the build (and too much juice flow), and I doubt I have ever made the same build EXACTLY. [Maybe on the K-5's and the Avocado's I stay consistent], and all it takes is a little adjustment. More air, less air, less power, less juice flow, and/or all of it together.
If you keep the air flow too tight, you will get a lot of juice built up and it will spit.

We all like different stuff, and we all build a little differently. I have many other mods/atty's, but over the years I stopped buying everything new that came out, and focused on the simpler, better tried-and-true devices, and learned what each one preferred. Most all of the new atty's I bought in the last 8-10 months have been boxed back up, with the exception of the Ammit, which I adore.

The temp control will reduce spitting [set right] and will definitely give much longer coil and wick life, but I still use a couple devices in wattage. I rarely use any wire other than SS 316L , mostly spaced coils, but still make some claptons, titanium for ultra-deep ohms, 316L mesh for some coils and some wicks, and even some Kanthal A1 to get the ohms up higher [for my sister].
Coils are easy, wicking can be tricky, then adjust everything from there. Many of the new Kanger OCC coils have too much wick and need a pin hole put in the juice holes thru the cotton. I haven't used any in 2-3 years, but my sister still does.
There are so many variations today, and not so easy to fix.....unless you are sitting right there together. Best solution is to get something you like, that's trustworthy, and then just keep messin' with it. Today is much easier with all the choices, yet there is a lot of hyped up junk too. In the early days we were forced to innovate.
An Ammit would be good to start with, and a nice mod, preferably with temp control, so you have the choice. The Ammit is 22mm, so it will work on your KBOX. Again, does your KBOX Mini have temp control?

Any mod that houses a DNA75 board.

Can you build for real?

I agree, the biggest reason is reliability. I've had zero issues with my Evolv boards. I did have to repair my Hotcig because the ribbon cable was getting pinched by the fire button and making it stick. If you want reliability get an Evolv device or a Yihi device if you're on a budget. My old Ipv4 is still working strong and it's been dropped a million times.

And here I always thought an Avocado with some lemon juice followed by garlic was the treatment for vaper's tongue.

And to the OP, I imagine even without the Avocado, you can see there are many solutions for a better vape experience. You've had lots of recommendations, and they are pretty reasonable. I'd pick and choose one or two things to try, see how it works for you, and keep making small adjustments until you're confident you can get a consistently satisfying vape.

Speaking of 'paid vape reviewers' I want to choke some of these reviewers...you're promoting a device that YOU GOT FOR FREE TO REVIEW, at LEAST LEARN how to pronounce it properly.

...and AsMODus is getting ridiculous with their pricing. $350 for a Minikin v2 just because it's stab wood and resin? Really? I can get a VA Primo or Axis mod for that, and it won't have the issues some of these Asmodus mods have.
