She's Grand!! She has just a few knicks (I think just a few lol), but I'm sure there's room for improvement. Monday she ships out to me and sometime next week she'll begin her new life with me. Bogey named his "Knickers" and I love that name so much I decided to name mine "Ima Knickers Two". Can't wait to saddle her up and give her a whirl. I love you guys!

Thanks for the family welcome everyone!! and yes, you bet I'll post a pic when it arrives. :)

OMG, Mlinky, I am so happy for you... and jealous! I wish me and my Knickers could be there with you and yours. Are you watching or participating? I'll be thinkin' of you, have fun!!

Just watching. My boy is on stall rest recovering from a hoof abcess. Had to cut it way down. Good news is, he is healing up beautifully :)

Oh ouch, those are no fun at all. I remember years ago having to use pine tar and leather pads on one... do they still do that? It's good to hear he's doing better and on the uphill side of the battle.

The products have changed some, but the mechanics are about the same. I felt like such a bad horse mommy. His hoof wall had separated, and he still went around looking happy. He only showed a little off behind for a few weeks, but it must have been hurting for months. :( When they cut it down, instead of being ouchy on the nub of a hoof he had left, he put all his weight down on it...I could swear he sighed in relief. Thankfully, it's grown out about 1 1/2" and looking nice and solid.

(((((((((MLinky))))))))) You're a great momma!! If not, he wouldn't be on his road to recovery... he'd still be out there in Offville and you'd be content in your indifference. He's lucky to have you in his life, you care for him deeply and you do your best. Besides, horses always take turns with being a little "off" here or there... it's only natural to wait and see before calling the professionals. In fact, the professionals usually tell us to wait and see (if there's no obvious life threatening problems like blood gushing or fever). Be good to yourself! He loves you just the way you are. He KNOWS you and he knows your best intentions :)

I finally watched Secretariat on dvd. OMG!!! What a movie!! Have you seen it yet?

Thanks Uma, that makes me feel better. :) I have done everything possible to make sure that nothing bad happens to him. My first horse was a big dollar 4 time world champion who was thrown away when he was only 12. He was deemed too dangerous to keep by the program he was donated to. He hated people. I think that he was supposed to win every time those people flew in for a show, whether he was ready or not, and goodness knows what they did to him to make sure he got those blues. He would try to kill vets; he would back into the corner of his stall and strike like a snake if anyone walked in; he would flip over if anyone on the ground touched his reins while someone was mounted or mounting. I didn't know enough to be terrified and loved him beyond reason. I played tag with him (LOL, I noticed he seemed lonely and spent most of his time watching me when I turned him out in the paddock; he probably was just worried I was going to do something to him), took him on trail rides, showed him in beginner classes, and learned to mount by being tossed in the air. By the end of his life, he would come up to the front of his stall nickering for peppermints. I lost him to founder 10 years ago and not a day goes by that I don't miss him. *sniff* He taught me a lot, and I am certain to have a 16 hand horse waiting to play tag at the rainbow bridge.

I have Secretariat on DVD, but haven't watched it yet. I was going to wait for a cold winter day when I am missing the barn. I have heard nothing but great things about it from all of my horsey friends. They filmed quite a bit of it here.
