So, I have made the switch. I have one analog left and will smoke it. I guess I'm just too cheap to buy something and not use it. Anyway, I have my ego setup going strong... Several flavors of juice, three batteries, three 3.5 ml tanks, and a good supply of cartos, punched and unpunched. I am pleased with results, but know I will want to upgrade to an APV. It seems as though the Provari is the "gold standard" APV. Is there a way to get comparable performance without dropping the two c-notes? I don't want to pitch all of the 510 stuff I already have, so whatever recommendations you veterans make, bear that in mind. I am so glad to have this resource. You guys are the best!

Gratz on kicking the tar out of your lungs (soon:laugh:)! The v2 lavatube Kit (sold under various names) sells for $100 or less, might be an idea. Also, there are some very good bottom feeders out there (Reo, Vapage, Bogger boxes, Red Sky Mods, etc)
Just look for '510' connection, most of your stuff would work. On some, you may need a 510-510 adapter for your tanks.

Welcome to the forums and congratulations on making the switch!

The Lavatube is comparable to the Provari, and is definitely worth the money if you're interested in VV mods. I personally own a Provari and love it but I can understand that the high price tag turns some people away. Either one would be a good choice. Hopefully some others can drop in their input as well.

I have actually looked at a comparison review between Provari and LT. The upshot of the whole thing was that you get 90% of the features for 50% of the cost with the LT. BUT will the LT have half of the life as the Provari? Or, asked another way, is the Provari just built twice as well as the LT?

My 'bravo' to you on your switch. Why don't you save that last cig (it won't be wasted) and have it in a month or two. You'll be in for quite a surprise.

While I do understand people liking the VV mods, you might give it a bit before you look at one, my boyfriend has a LT and loves it, but for myself once I got away from that ego t tank system and its problems and went with LR carts on my batteries I have found what seems to be perfect for me, and it works well with my preferred juices. So for me a VV wouldn't be the best idea and so I am looking at getting a mechanical like the Legacy.

So before you decide on any of them, play around with a few things see what you like or don't like first.

I don't own a lavatube so it would be hard for me to answer your question comparing build quality but I can tell you that the Provari is built like a tank. I definitely don't regret the money I spent on it. All my other mods have been untouched since I received it. Maybe somebody that owns both can compare them better for you.

I just e mailed Provape the other day because I just don't feel like going in the pool because I can't stand not having my Provari in hand at all times. I was wanting to know what the repair cost would be if I just decided to take it in the pool with me and happened to drop ot. This was the Email I got back Hi Dana,

Actually, a few ProVaris have gone swimming in the past. One was dropped in the ocean another in a lake and another in a swimming pool. If you give it a bath with isopropyl alcohol (99-92%) a couple times and then let dry thoroughly, it will most likely work afterwards. These babies are tough as nails. Here's a link to our troubleshooting page which explains how to clean a ProVari: Troubleshooting Tips

However, if it does fall in the pool and you are unable to get it to work with the above mentioned solution, the worst case scenario would be we would have to replace the circuit board and that costs $65.

I was just amazed and ordered a 2nd for backup and now will just use my Provari in the pool. I think the Lava tube is probably pretty good as well but not as good as a Provari in build quality. Hope this helps.

My opinion, about 5 times as well:evil:
Just that you said you didnt want to sink $200 in a provari

I didn't say I didn't want to spend the $200... I just wondered is there was a short cut. If it's worth it, I will spend it. If the Provari will last 5 X's as long as the LT, then, of course, I will spend twice as much on it. BUT, remember, I still have that last analog... Sounds as though you believe that buying the LT could be the waste, as it wouldn't stand up?

Maybe it wouldn't stand up to the Provari if you take it swimming..LOL! Never tried that, but I own 2 Lavatubes and I love them. I looked at the Provari and may even still get it eventually, but right now, I'm shying away from the sky-high price tag. I'm not having any problems with my LTs and I'm using them mainly with Phiniac Pyrex tanks and sometimes with clearos/cartos. :)

Not at all. I just think a SS USA built Mod is going to last longer. I have had 2 LT's, never had an issue. Its (IMHO) just the difference between a Rolls Royce & a Volkswagen.
