I have been a very heavy smoker for almost three and a half years now and I have finally given decided to give it up for good. I actually enjoy smoking and I really don't want to quit but the risks outweigh the benefits by far. I have ordered an Ego system and some 18mg juice with some cartos and a drip tip. I would greatly appreciate any advice or support on quitting smoking and vaping in general. So if anyone has absolutely anything that will help me on my journey, feel free to pass it along.:?:

Welcome to the wonderful world of vaping Diagasa! I feel you made an excellent choice with the Ego...I spent hundreds of dollars fooling around with a Blu-cig, and couldn't quit with it. I finally was able to quit when I got my Riva(ego). I primarily use cartomizers, but also love dripping when at home. My advice would be to stick with it. My first weeks without an analog I was coughing up phlegm and mucus quite a bit, and I know others have experienced that too...almost as if my lungs were getting the crap out after years of smoking. After that, it has been smooth sailing. What started as a hobby, is now a passion. It's so much fun experimenting with different atty's, carto's, and of course, flavors! Also, check out youtube for great vids regarding how to properly vape, i.e. drip and use cartomizers. There's a ton of liquid out there, but if you want a first-time customer deal on amazing juice, check out thevaporroom.net. As soon as I found them, I left behind Dekang juice for good. Best of luck on your fun journey!

I smoked for 35+ years, almost all that time unfiltered hand rolled. I quit once in that time for 4.5 years but went back to it because I enjoy smoking and don't want to lose that pleasure. It's now approaching twelve weeks since I last lit a cig and I have no desire at all for one. Don't even think about them any more. Vaping has replaced smoking completely and I love it, and I have no intention of giving it up. Many many more on here with similar stories, my own wife's story is pretty much the same.

It took time, and some money, to find the best system for us but we did not give up, just kept going and ordering different stuff and flavours until we found our vaping nirvana. So be prepared for a learning curve, be prepared for trial and error, be prepared for frustrations along the way - just don't give up. If what you have at the time isn't working for you, be that hardware, NIC level, flavour, juice composition, try something else. Just don't give up. You will get there.

Our health has improved lots. Our home doesn't stink any more, neither do we. We are enjoying our passion for vaping without the Reaper looking over our shoulder. I have a new hobby of mixing my own juice and flavours. There is even hope (providing I don't find another expensive mod I fancy) that we will break even in a couple of months time against what we would have spent on tobacco and by Christmas we should have saved a substantial amount.

Compared to smoking, vaping is all good, and worth every penny and minute of effort put into it.

Good luck on your journey, I hope you find the satisfaction that we have :thumb:

Everyone's experience moving to vaping full time is a little bit different. For me it was a very organic process. I got a cheap kit to play around with. I smoked more than I vaped, but I started preferring the vaping experience to smoking and eventually got down to one or two analogs a day, then stopped buying more.

I quickly escalated from the no-name kit to a 510, then an eGo then a bunch of other stuff and even started writing articles about it. My wife thinks I'm a wee bit obsessed :)

Some keep going with their basic kits and are quite content and yes, some find they aren't into vaping at all and give up. I think the key to success is sort of sticking with it, try not to form an opinion after a few days or even weeks.

I smoked for 25 years a pack and a half a day and loved smoking. I tried to quit several times because of the health problems smoking so kindly gave me.

It took awhile before I found the right device and juices for me but once I did, I found I enjoyed vaping far more than I ever did smoking.

My advice is to not give up. Once you find what works for you, you'll have a far more enjoyable experience. And once your taste buds return ( they've been numbed by smoking) you're going to find food is soooooo much better too.

You need a lot of help. And this forum is just the place to get it.

First thing is to believe what the e-juice makers tell us:

18mg: Equivalent of a lite cig.
24mg: Equivalent of a regular cig.
36mg: Equivalent of a non-filtered cig.

Sounds to me like you might have already wasted some money. Sorry if that is the case.

HTH,
Dave

Listen to what the others have already posted above, it's all great advise. Also, if you can't do the "I didn't have another analog after my very first vape"; don't worry, chances are if you can't immediately quit smoking, I'm fairly sure that you will cut back substantially. Keep at it and if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

It's really not only vaping to got me away from Cigarettes it was also the this great community as well as vaping becoming a hobby of yours sooner or later. All these things together got me away from cigarettes not only vaping itself.

Just make sure you always have enough of everything 2 bat's enough attys, cartos, juice, charger because if you end up in the woods with only one battery you will grab a cig sooner or later due to your battery running low.

I actually smoke Camel Menthol Lights. I did a wee bit of homework on the subject before I bought.

I love menthol cigarettes. I've vaped for a couple of years and I occassionally have a real cigarette. I find if I smoke a menthol, I have a really hard time not chain smoking them. With a non-menthos cigarette, I truly can have just one.

So this is a suggestion to you and all prior menthol smokers. You might want to switch to non-menthol real cigarettes prior to switching to ecigs. It may make the transition to ecigs a little easier.

And for cripes sakes, if you choose to smoke a real cigarette once in a while, do NOT smoke a menthol.

What I miss is the flavor of real tobacco. Not menthol. Menthol can be had in an ecig.

Dave

I had been smoking a pack a day for over 5 years (camel menthol lights), I quit 5 months ago using my joye 510. I would suggest to limit yourself to one or two analogs for the first week while your trying to use your ego. Then the next week only one a day. By the third week you won't want any at all and you will start to realize how bad they taste an smell. That's how I did it and it worked, I think if your trying to quit and tell yourself you can't have any you're just going to want one more. Try to limit yourself more and more and before you know it you'll be an ex smoker. I would suggest using a liquid with 24mg your body is going to be craving nicotine and because nictotine is absorbed into your lungs slower with an ecig I would suggest 24mg to start and see how you feel. Good Luck!! :)

I greatly appreciate all the great advice. I just got my ego in the mail today. I had an analog at ten this morning and after I made sure everything worked, I vaped a while. I must say the double mint eliquid that I got is really amazing. I haven't had the urge for a real cigarette yet. I've gotten myself a wee bit lightheaded but still haven't wanted an analog yet. I'll keep you all posted with my progress.

I have been rather enjoying the world of vaping and I have been faithfully using my Ego with the Ego Cartomizers. They are super amazing but I was wondering if the ego T will be as good as the ego I'm currently using with the ego cartomizers.... I really want to try the ego t but I don't want to be disappointed with it. Is it truly as good as everyone else says it is or am I just better off with the regular Ego and the Ego Cartomizers?

I vape a Riva... which is just like your Ego.... I got an Ego T kit a little while back, and I dont think its that great. It dosent leak a bit but the flavor is muted and it dosent wick up fast enough for me most of the time.... I like to vape a 50/50ish mix PGVG and I chain vape, big drags.....it cant hang.... my Riva with boge 2.0 cartos... no problem!

One of the ways I tell people when they buy an e cig in order to stop smoking completely is not having any cigarettes close at hand and use the ecig when you have cravings and over a period of time you should use the e cig automatically. After a week or two you will find analogs disgusting!

My #1 piece of advice is don't pressure yourslef just let it happen.

#2 order a small bottle of 24 mg juice for bad cravings and only use it when you really want a cig bad.

#3 Hydrate hydrate hydrate

The cartomizers you are using, are they hard plastic that have to be filled with a syringe? If so, you could try the new dual coil cartomizers that are made specifically for the ego battery. My husband and i have been using them for about a week and they work very well. Also, Boge 2.0 cartos work well but don't hold near as much liquid as the new dual coil.

I have the ego t atomizers and used to use them :) If you get one that works right, they are nice other than a muted flavor. When they don't work right, it can become a very frustrating vaping event. If I had it to do over, I'd skip the ego t atties and stick with cartomizers.
