I posted a thread about how I was desperate to stop smoking and asked for some advice.

I will summarise some of the advice given that may help other people looking to make the transition. I'm very much at the start of the journey.

1 I keep craving cigs.

- Advice given was to concentrate on tobbaco flavours to start with as your brain can associate the sweet ones / desserts ones with smoking and makes you think of the after meal analogue smoke!

2 Requires a bit of will power

People on here said e cigs does require a bit a of willpower to start with. I've changed my mindset today. And it made a difference. Invaoed until my cravings subsided. Normally an analogue took 5 mins to smoke. vaping took me half an hour before the craving went. Using 18mg so think I'm going to buy some 24 and experiment. Yep I've smoked analogues today but more importantly I've replaced 6 analogues with vaping today! My normal smoking time is every half an hour but today it's averaging about 1.5 hours. This is a big win for me! Starting slow and steady.

You should always think about the analogues you have saved through gaping! Feel very pleased with myself. Have a long way to go but it's a start! From the advice I've been given in here sometimes it can take a while to adjust and the all or nothing mentality doesn't always work.

I would like to thanks everyone on here who has been so supportive!

I'm vaping gold and silver by Hangsen at 18mg and 6mg Apple as a chill out vape.

P.S Looking for a nice roll up flavour 24mg juice. Know of anything?

I did the same as Purplepeeps, I stayed away from Tobacco flavorings as well. The flavorings made cravings a bit worse than when vaping on other flavors. I also went with REALLY sweet juices, they taste better, and it keeps my attention. This is my second go around vaping, the first time wasn't successful and I ended up going back to cigs after a few months. I am on my second attempt at vaping, I have much better gear than the first time I tried, and I have ordered juices from different vendors who are considered better quality.

I am on day 1 of a full 24 hours being analog free. I have had some analog cravings, but nothing extreme. My nic fits are MUCH lower this time compared to the first time. The first time I started vaping, it was like quitting cold turkey, and I was a hot mess the first 2 weeks. Funny enough, I am vaping the same 12mg I started with last year, and when I went back to analogs last year, I went back full force and started smoking 2 packs a day compared to my 1 pack a day that I used to smoke.

I found so far that the excitement of new toys keeps my interest lol. I have made a LONG list of items that I would like to buy to support my vaping habit. Every paycheck I get, I will order 1 item, whether it is new juice from a new vendor, a new tank, a new mod, accessories to make my mod sexy lol. The more excited I am, the more I turn to my PV when cravings arise.

It will take time, but eventually you will get it. Nothing in life is easy, we just have to make the decision on if it is worth fighting for. My health and my life is more than worth the struggles and fighting of being cigarette free. And remember, you are NOT a failure, until you quit trying. Good luck!

I believe as a smoker previous methods have ignored the hand to mouth routine which is a significant part of smoking. No NRT or worse flat out quit methods address the issue. That is where the "It's so hard" originates. I did not even start vaping with the goal of quitting just cutting down and using something in non smoking areas. I drifted away from cigarettes since the hand to mouth habit was satisfied.

Congrats on the decision! If you make your mind up that this is the only solution and you stick to it. You will find that it becomes easier as the hours and days go by. Relish in the thought that you are making a life changing decision for yourself and go for it. You will find that it is much easier than you think. Good luck and Happy Vaping!

Welcome and congratulations from a fellow Englishman :toast:

I would thoroughly recommend LT Ecigs for good quality tobacco flavours at ridiculous prices. From memory I think you will pay around £2.40 to £3.60 for a 10ml bottle. I used to smoke roll ups and was pretty fussy about what I smoked, normally going for custom blends from companies such as Auld Kendal, so I wanted something to fill that gap.

The Moors is just superb, and there are a few other noteworthy ones such as The Crags. Cool Moors is one of my favourites :thumb:

Hope the success continues!

Congrats on the progress, it does get easier once you get some mileage under your belt. I had bad cravings in the first month or so but these gradually reduced once I'd hit the month mark.

As for tobacco flavorings, I can't comment from a personal point of view, but I did a batch of DIY liquid (which is relatively easy to do) for the mother in law recently and bought some DKS Flavorings, Virginia tobacco flavoring. She loves it - not my cup of tea but it does resemble golden Virginia from my rolling days. DIY might be too much of a hassle though and isn't for everyone.

I've been buying my DIY stuff from Freedom to Vape recently, prices are good and based in Ireland. I've not had a bad thing from them to date. The Alchemists Cupboard is worth a look over too but I can't recall if they sold tobacco flavored liquid.

If you don't want to go down the DIY route, then Hangsen tobacco liquids seem to come highly recommended from family and friends I know who vape. *Edit - you already vape this brand - as for alternatives I'm not too sure sorry!*

I couldn't vape tobacco flavors, for some reason I went for menthol and chocolate fudge brownie and switch between the two on a whim. I hated menthol cigarettes but for a vape it seems to hit the spot. The chocolate fudge brownie is probably why I've lost weight since vaping too ha-ha :D

Glad it's going better for you, and keep it up. Those days will turn into weeks and months before you know it. You might want to check out the MVP 2 as a really nice variable device. Lots of folks here love using it, myself included. It works with all ego compatible tanks and is very nicely made. You can get a couple of days use before needing to recharge it. Here is a link to a reliable seller on ebay, but it it available lots of places online as well:

^ +1

I don't own an MVP, but heard nothing but good noises about it.

I prefer tube mods, just a preference. I have used a VAMO V5 and an Innokin SVD, both performed pretty well in my eyes for a more than reasonable price upfront.

Provari is generally considered the "ace" of variable voltage Mods, but I've not used one, and it's a hefty price upfront - built to last from what I can tell with excellent after sales service. If I get a bonus this year I might buy one.

Variable voltage/wattage certainly gives you a lot more control over your vaping, and I'd go for it (whatever device you go for)

If I had to recommend one, I got a SVD for £28 online (Ebay). Was so impressed I got my mother in law one, both devices work well and were legitimate and brand new. For the money it's already paid for itself versus smoking and it seems sturdy enough (more so that my Vamo, but it's a hard one to call)

Thinking back to the beginning again. At first, I only wanted to vape something that felt like a cig in my hand. Trying to do with with a eGo battery was difficult. I starting gripping the batteries with my hand. That also helped from getting away from the cig reminder.

I pretty much vape all the time. Not because I feel like I need the nicotine, just love to vape. The flavors, popping of the coils and warm vapor keep me satisified:)

Once I found the perfect tanks(aspire) and juice for me, I was so much happier in my vaping journey. It's all about trial and error. Keep at it until you find what works best, for you.

I often wonder if I would have done so well with vaping if it had not been for the wonderful people on ecf.
I feel the very same way every day. Literally every day.

Nobody needs to worry, though. I'm not going to go getting all mushy and gushy like I did after the overwhelming responses to Hell Hath No Fury.

 ("I love you guys. And gals. Every one of you. I wanna have all your babies. I mean it.")

But what I will say is that I will be VERY surprised if I ever find a place on the internet with more people who are as extraordinarily and unconditionally kind and supportive as the ones here in ECF.

I wuvs you guys.

OK, I'm done. No more mushy. Really. I mean it this time.

you are NOT a failure, until you quit trying
That's one of my favorite mantras. Wisdom to live by, it is. :)

This week will mark my one year smoke free. I was a 1 pack/day of Marlboro light 100s. Smoked for 30 years. I started with 18 mg, but quickly went up to 24, then 32 (or 30?). Despite the high nicotine, I still went through withdrawal for about a week, which reinforces my belief that the addiction is much more complicated than nicotine. Otherwise, the patches and gum would work, right?

Now I'm at 12-18 mg, using a variety of flavors, clearos/tanks, and bats. I haven't cheated with a cig at all since my first kit arrived. If you put your mind to making the switch, you can do it. :)

I have the Vamo V5 and a protank 3 in purple as my new setup. I LOVE it, and I am utterly addicted to mods now, compared to the old ego-T batteries I used to use. It is variable voltage, and variable wattage.

I got my entire kit for $47

I started vaping four years ago with a setup in a mall. $200 and it was pretty much a glorified blu ecig... I loved it and used their Turkish tobacco flavor. After 4 months I moved 2 states away and was told by them that I couldn't use it anymore because their juice was proprietary.. (Very simple carto setup I now know lol)

Well fast forward to now and my buddies started vaping. I told them I wanted what I used to have and wasn't interested in their mods.. Just wanted a simple cigalike with some Turkish flavor!

It's only been a month but I found I love flavor! My adv is diy mint chocolate chip and my Provari. Couldn't be happier!

Moral of the story is don't think u need a tobacco flavor to get off cigs. I smoked for the first 5 days so I could finish off the two and a half packs I had in my car haha. But now I love my vaping! Good luck to you! This forum is a great place!!! :)
