Hey everyone. I am looking for an inexpensive mod per the following:

- 18650 size, prefer it not to telescope
- 510 connector only or covered ego threads, no exposed ego threads
- side button preferred, specifically near the top
- mechanical would be cool but not required, I am able to repair wiring and switches
- and here is the kicker, under $30 or as close to it as possible, definitely not over $40
- not a plastic Bolt

So far my best option seems to be the Paladin from smokerevolt, just wanting to know if there are any other choices.

Thanks!

The Paladin has wires in it. It's not a matter of repairing wires, it's the added complexity of the device that keeps me away from such a device. Further the extra wires, solder joints, etc. may all contribute to limiting the capability of the mod as well as possibly introducing extra voltage drop at the coil (increased over all resistance).

A pure mechanical's largest appeal is probably found in it's simplicity. The simpler it is the better. They also tend to be very good at what they do best, which is probably SLR (Super Low Resistance, below 1.2 ohms) vaping. Once you get into low ohms, high watts and higher drain territory the wiring may quickly become the weakest link in the design (but batteries are first!)

Thanks for the suggestions!

I've looked at the KTS, and as far as telescoping mods go, that one doesn't look too bad. I just don't like the looks of most of them. I will definitely check out the sigelei #8. I was hoping to find a cheaper one with a top button, but they seem hard to come by. I've heard that is a trickier design, so the few mechs out there with it are more spendy.

I like the idea of a true mech, but I don't intend to vape below 1 ohm, so the limitations of wires and solder may not be noticeable. But I guess it comes down to where I want my firing button positioned at this point. Still, it would be nice to get the best of all worlds.

For a regulated mod I would say the Vamo should fit the bill. Cheap, capable, relatively well built. It has no competition in it's price range, IMHO.

+1 for the Vamo.

Has ego threads as well as 510, but the ego threads are recessed in the drip well. You wouldn't see them with an atomizer/tank on top.

Cloudz, here is a smoking deal on a Sig #8 and a free bottle of juice (I wouldn't buy their batteries, etc. though). Hot off the press:

Sigelei #8 Mod Electronic Cigarette from AquaVaporCig North Carolina

Awesome! I might just pull the trigger on that one unless I get some other suggestion that stops me.

As for the Vamo, I know I can get one for around $30 from China and I am sure they are nice, but I'm really looking for something unregulated. Should have included that criterion.

This mod will spend its life attached to RBAs, with an occasional visit from my clearos and carto tanks when all my ego batteries are dead.

Looking at your preferred requirements, how about the Sigelei #20:

Sigelei #20 - YouTube

I am thinking of getting one but I have a K100 on the way.

I have the k100 now and love it. I cant count how many times ive dropped it since i got it. Theres a dent in the battery tube, the bottom fire button is bent and the blue finish has several scrape marks. Im ashamed to say that but i cant seem to not drop it, guess cause its so small. With all the abuse, it works as good as it did on day one.

I am trying to fight the urge of buying a new mechanical. The sigelei #20 is another telescope but i love that feature. Ive been eyeballing the 20 and the kts storm (another telecope)

As for non telescopes, ive read decent stuff about the #8 listed above. And at that price, its hard to say no.

Dang it... Speaking of being hard to say no... I know im going to end up buying something before the end of the night. I gotta fight it!

Edit: ...Didnt fight it. Just preordered the #20. Cant wait til it gets here.

Good luck and enjoy.

Other than the telescoping, the #20 seems almost perfect. And it doesn't look all that bad to me either. The only thing I would be worried about is the mechanical "switch" it has, I've heard its kind of a weird design which could fail easily. Then again, I'm sure most owners could use it forever and never have a problem.
