Great post until you got to the nicotine recommendations. 0,3 or 6mg strength for a PAD smoker looking to quit is a recipe for failure. I would recommend 18mg at a minimum and 24 or 32mg if available. Its easier to cut a nic level that's too high than it is too increase one that's to low.[/
I disagree I was a little under a pack a day but i started with 6 nic on a eleaf i stick 20w, it allowed me to vape more which filled in the habit part. Within a month I was up to an rx200 but quickly changed to 3 nic when I switched to RDAs so it all depends on your habits.

This is currently what I am looking at, $49.50 Kanger TOPBOX Mini 75W TC Starter Kit | Cloud Paradise Inc. but it seems a bit excessive to start with.

I am currently using a Mark 10 but it is crap and needs to go, though it helps, a bit, a very little bit.

I would call that a very good starter kit. It's not excessive at all, especially when you consider the price. There are lots of e-cig brands that will charge double that price for a 'Pen' (eGo) e-cig and even one that will charge 3 times that for a $3.72 plastic cig look a like.

$49.50 is a great deal. Take it.

*edit* I see you ordered the istick 60w. Also good. Take it!.... you did.

Not always a failure I started vaping quit smoking after almost 30 years I started at 3mg & have stuck with 3mg & smoke free for 7 months. I would also recommend looking at the Joyetech VTC kit

Regarding nic-level we have to keep in focus if OP is starting out with subohm or not.
With a packet a day normal recommendations I have seen all over is 16-24 mg nic if we're not talking sub ohm vaping. I am pretty sure that with 6mg for 1.0 ohm coils and above as I saw recommended by some could be a road to failure or at least difficulties with jumping 100% to vaping because the nic cravings will still be too hard to kick. The 3 and 6 mg are for sub ohm, but with MTL vaping there still is a need for higher level of nicotine.

I figured I would go to my local smoke shop and test out a few options to see what fits. 6mg sounds fine by the way. My Mark Ten XL is 3.5 and cut me back from 20 a day to 5 a day within the first day. Of course I need to have the thing on me all the time and take puffs nearly all day, but hey, it proves I do not need much more! Either way, I'll still take a trip to the smoke shop and tryout a few options.

My personal experience using Cig-A-Likes to achieve becoming a Non-Smoker was to start high and when I switched to a MOD I cut the Nicotine level in half since I had twice the vapor. Having a tank allowed to Mix in some higher % liquid if I felt I needed a bit more kick. Just my opinion from my personal experience and do what you feel is best for you. :2c::2c:

Only one small problem. 3.5% is 35mg. 6mg is 6mg.

6mg is very little Nicotine on lower power hardware. Some people inadvertently give up smoking just by puffing away on their vape (regardless of Nicotine level). Most people actually need the Nicotine.

I know a lady (1 PAD) who was 'recommended' 6mg. A year later, she was still smoking.

Up to you of course. :)

Good comment. :)

I used cig-a-likes with 24mg and it did not work. It also was heading towards a $6,000 a year habit, as that's what these products do... they 'claim' one cartomizer is 30 or 40 cigarettes and actually, that is not the case. They are about the money.

The fact they can even say that (and not be sued) is criminal, as is the price i.m.o.

I watched a few uTube videos and learned how to refill the cartridges and went with 2.4% Tobacco flavored e-Lquid. Cut the cost and raised the Nic percentage. Was able to continue on the path to becoming a Non-Smoker using Cig-A-Likes as an AID to achieve my goal. It was shear determination and will power getting past the cravings. I have said it many times what a good friend told me many years ago when I quit smoking............ It is OK to want one just don't have it!

My point exactly. :D
I think it's better to be a little high on nic from the start (not to a nauseating level, of course) and cut back quick than be too low on nicotine level and still crave (and maybe smoke) analogues because you do not get the necessary nicotine.

I know for sure that the nicotine level for me had to be higher rather than lower than expected, based on my former smoking habits. After one month I am slowly lowering my nic level with DIY juices. But I am off the analogues!

Sounds like the typical real world scenario.

I was using 45mg when i was hitting cig-a-likes. I was still using 36mg when i moved to ego's etc.

Most people would warn off anyone from using high levels of nicotine. If a smoker wants to quit smoking then a high nicotine vape is really the only way to go.

My provari/Kayfun setup is 24mg - mouth to lung.

My high powered box mod/multiple coil RTA setup is 4.5mg - direct lung ( use like an asthema inhaler).

As far as i know i've always had the right balance. Cig-a-likes never worked with anything less than 45mg for me.

If on a tight budget, and already have some vape gear to get by on, Id spend the money little by little getting a really good charger, and then some really good batteries.

Doing this, you are 3/4 of the way there........and can buy a good mod that takes separate batts at any time in the next few months when you can dig up more cash.

JMHO. Don't put cart before horse. :)
