Yeah, we all have a bit of new vaper optimism. I think you'll see that there is some build up regardless of your juice. Lighter is better, but it's still there and it's burnt on. You can't really see it sometimes. As an experiment, clean one your regular way and let it air dry. Then fire it once and watch the coil. If you can clearly see it go full red within one second, it might not have much build up on it. If you have to fire it for 5 seconds, rest 10 seconds and repeat a number of times, you had build up and if you continue until it glows almost instantly, you'll notice a white ash.

I've discovered that it's virtually impossible to keep, or get, a coil really clean without dry burning.

What I do is this.

Every week of use soak in alcohol for 24 hours to loosen gunk.
Remove and soak 12-24 hours in hot water with a denture cleaning tablet. (That's the best thing. Better than alcohol)
If otherwise not in use, I'll do the above step in an ultrasonic jewelry cleaner and give them an hour or so of the ultrasonic.
Rinse in hot water.
Soak in 91% isopropyl alcohol to displace water
91% dries very fast and leaves no residue
Then leave to dry a few hours or more before dry burning.
Blow out white ash. If I can't blow it out, I'll dry burn a couple more times until I can. If I can't, it's no biggie anyway.
I can usually make an atty last 40-60 days of use that way. So two would last about 3 months of continuous use in rotation.

Actually, I don't really use attys much anymore. I've gotten away from dripping and use mostly cartos. I can get a months worth of cartos, and toss them, for little more than a months worth of attys would cost. But I guess you have an eGo tank system?

Try the denture cleaner soak. It'll make a big difference. Just make sure you get the unflavored "smokers' type and rinse very well because they all have some flavor.

Cool, thanks for the advise. I'll give that a try next time I do a cleaning. Never thought about denture cleaning tabs either.

Kinda bummed that i'll only be able to get 3 months out of the two of them, but I guess it's not terribly bad though its a month less than even my short estimation :( lol

Yeah I use the atty/tank set up because so far the other options I tried just didn't go over well for me, and so far its all I can vap. Though when I get back home I'll be buying about 5 different types of ends to try out to see if I like anything better than the tank (got to love the experiment with everything phase of something new)

I'm kinda worried now because I'm in the middle of the ocean and wont see land again for another 4 weeks, if my attys go bad i'm screwed :(

I'd recommend the Ego-T. My recommendation is a tad bit biased since that's the first and only e-cig I've used aside from the 7-1 brand e-cig (thank god I'm done with that piece of crap)

One tip I've found invaluable is this:

The more your e-cig looks like the 'real thing' the crappier the performance will be. Bear that in mind when browsing.

You also need to consider battery life.. In fact battery life will be your chief consideration. In other words more Mah=better ecig.

But the most important thing is to be consistent. Don't switch back and forth from e-cigs to analogs. Make a firm decision to switch to vaping and stick with it. I won't lie to you; the first week will be HELL. To paraphrase Bill Hicks, every cigarette you see will look like it was made by God and rolled by Jesus. But once you get past that hellish first week it'll be smooth sailing. Or at least it was for me.

Good luck and happy vaping.
